When you do get there
[edit]Congrats on 300K! Just in case I'm asleep when it happens. :/ Regards, John. Bringingthewood (talk) 01:01, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! I think it already happened though. If you click my contributions and scroll down to edit count, it says 301,871. I see you hit 60K recently, ever closer to that elusive 100K. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 01:13, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- You're welcome and congrats anyway for the one you didn't reach that I looked at, lol. Yeah, but it will take a little while. I slowed down some, being that I make everything a job. P.S. Thanks again for doing a couple of edits tonight that I hesitated doing. One was removing (USFL). I thought leagues didn't really belong in that box. The other was Greg Reid, I thought I might screw up the photo positioning with that one. I had to laugh, HA, when I saw you did them both. Bringingthewood (talk) 02:22, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Lol lol ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 02:30, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- See you later and enjoy your weekend! John. Bringingthewood (talk) 02:39, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Lol lol ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 02:30, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the free agent 'thank you', I didn't want to steal your edits. It took me twenty minutes and my IP address to figure out how you did that edit summary, lol. I left the slanted look for your edits .. you did it first. :) John. Bringingthewood (talk) 01:39, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oh well, it's slanted also .. it was the thought that counts. ;) Bringingthewood (talk) 01:42, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Loll, thanks. Don't worry about stealing my edits, there are plenty to go around. What do you mean by slanted? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 01:44, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't realize the edit summary has a slanted link look: free agent discussion. I thought it might have a straight up look on mine. I think the summaries do that automatically. Bringingthewood (talk) 01:50, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, it's automatic. I never really thought about it before but it looks like the entire edit summary is slanted, not just links. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 01:54, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm, good to know. How in the hell I remembered to do the slant just now is beyond me. Thanks again, and always remember, the only two sure things in this world: Death and me not reaching 300K. John. Bringingthewood (talk) 02:00, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- lol ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 02:01, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Almost forgot .. congrats on your 300K .. AGAIN! For the one I see. @@. I'll go away now. Bringingthewood (talk) 02:04, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- lol ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 02:01, 12 November 2024 (UTC)

- Now I can ask. Parnell Motley was left (American football) in the lead. Should I avoid putting gridiron for players who have an asterisk next to CFL teams in the infobox?. Not sure if they had to literally play a down in the CFL. Thanks, John. Bringingthewood (talk) 19:30, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- That was just an oversight, I meant to put gridiron there. Go ahead and do what you think is best. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:31, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- LOL, I was hoping you didn't say oversight. I was really trying to see the right way to do it. You seem to be leaning towards both asterisk or not. I hope that it's okay to leave Arena football as American. I see it's a gridiron variety. Still, it's whatever you believe is correct, I go with that. (HA, you changed it and I didn't even finish typing) Bringingthewood (talk) 19:41, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- I don't really mind either way (I thought gridiron is how you were going it, lol). I think I've done it both ways before though. If they didn't actually play in the CFL, we can just leave it as American if you want, I'm not going to go around changing that part. I was mainly just fixing "former American" and "free agent". And yes, arena football is just considered American on here. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:46, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- Fantastic, I'm not changing things either. I do agree, leave it as American unless they actually played in the CFL. That box on the left where it breaks down professional career teams made me wonder a bit. Seems like some really tried to go gridiron, lol. Thank God with arena being American. Well, you've done your duty for today .. I thank you. Enjoy your week! John. Bringingthewood (talk) 20:04, 19 November 2024 (UTC)

Hey
[edit]Can you take a look at this edit and fix what's needed? (talk page stalker) CrashUnderride 14:40, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Looks good. I just changed the title. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:42, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- I went back and changed a few things, reordered a bit of info and sectioned up the history section better. (talk page stalker) CrashUnderride 17:57, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- That looks better. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:02, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

NFL player middle names
[edit]Hello! I seem to be running into player middle names on here that have no sources. I usually use PFR as the main checker with an Internet search. There is a chance some of these edits are legit but have no backing. Also, there is a chance of these being joke edits that have stuck. Do you have a known resource of names other than PFR? If not, it is fine. Red Director (talk) 20:17, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- I use Pro Football Archives too. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 20:24, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- I fear this is potentially an unwinnable war unless we watch the watchlists like a hawk after audits are done lol. Thanks. Red Director (talk) 20:41, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- If there are no sources, just remove it. Sometimes the full name is cited in the first sentence of the early life section but most people don't do that (besides me, because references aren't supposed to go in the lead technically). ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 20:48, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes that is what I have been doing with no reference in the lead. I have noticed one editor using the reference in the edit summary in some situations, which seems like a good idea. Red Director (talk) 20:50, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Citing the middle name ref in the lead is better than nothing at all though. I just meant to check the early life section also before removing any middle names from the lead. Just putting the source in the edit summary is not good enough because people aren't going to comb through years of history to find that. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 20:52, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Gotcha. I am only gonna make changes based on whether or not I can find even one reliable source for an existing middle name. The only change I will make is removing if no source. Red Director (talk) 20:56, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Sounds good. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 21:01, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Often times, the reference to a middle/full legal name is within the opening sentence in the early life section. At least, that's how I personally cite them without putting it into the lead as I try to keep that free of them per WP:CITELEAD. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:51, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
