You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the [[copyright]] status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the ''exact'' source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status. |
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following [{{fullurl:Special:Log|type=upload&user={{PAGENAMEE}}}} this link]. If you have any questions please ask them at the [[Wikipedia:Media copyright questions|Media copyright questions page]] or me at my talk page. <div class="floatleft" style="margin-bottom:0">[[File:Ambox warning orange.svg|48px|alt=|link=]]</div>A discussion is taking place as to whether the article '''[[:Fusion (music)]]''' is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to [[Wikipedia:List of policies and guidelines|Wikipedia's policies and guidelines]] or whether it should be [[Wikipedia:Deletion policy|deleted]]. |

I'd just like to say that I too feel that that bit at the top of your userpage should be removed; while I will not remove it myself or force you to remove it, I feel that it's a bit disturbing to have anything that personal as the first thing on your userpage. [[Image:Ambox warning yellow.svg|left|link=|48px|]] |
The article [[Antwerp, New York (disambiguation)]] has been [[Wikipedia:Proposed deletion|proposed for deletion]] because of the following concern: |
The image at the top of your user page is indeed deeply offensive; as you well know, the preferred form of homosexual intercourse on #wikipedia is oral. - [[User:David Gerard|David Gerard]] 19:54, 13 July 2005 (UTC) |

:Besides, it doesn't blink. —[[User:Cryptic|Cryptic]] [[User talk:Cryptic|(talk)]] 22:32, 13 July 2005 (UTC) |
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your [[Help:edit summary|edit summary]] or on [[Talk:Antwerp, New York (disambiguation)|the article's talk page]]. |
== GNAA == |
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the [[Wikipedia:Proposed deletion|proposed deletion process]], but other [[Wikipedia:deletion process|deletion process]]es exist. In particular, the [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion|speedy deletion]] process can result in deletion without discussion, and [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion|articles for deletion]] allows discussion to reach [[Wikipedia:Consensus|consensus]] for deletion.<!-- Template:Proposed deletion notify --> [[User:Boleyn|Boleyn]] ([[User talk:Boleyn|talk]]) 17:08, 12 November 2014 (UTC) |

Hi SPUI. The decision you made on [[Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Gay Nigger Association of America attempt 6|this VFD debate]] was the "correct" one, but since you were involved in the debate, I would recommend that you do not close it. ([[Wikipedia:Deletion_process]] says that you should not close those debates you have participated in, although I personally give some leeway for closers who declare the result as "keep", when they voted "delete". Nonetheless, I have now confirmed the "keep" result, and I will be sending a sterner message to Calton for his name calling. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing inappropriate pages, such as [[:My anus is bleeding]], is not in accordance with our [[Wikipedia:List of policies|policies]]. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by [[:My anus is bleeding|visiting the page]] and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". |||
Hi there! I must say I was largely unaware of the GNAA before the (sixth?) VFD recently started. But what has happened since then is simply amazing. Rather than simply trolling Wikipedia, the GNAA has somehow been meta-trolling and has convinced Wikipedia to troll itself - as evidenced by the recent plethora of GNAA-related pages and requests for deletion thereof, AND requests for deletion thereof. I find this wonderfully ironic and more than a little hilarious. I can hardly say to keep up the good work (or possibly, bad work) but this may prove good medicine for people who take WP way to seriously. So cheers, and have a good laugh! Another place that changed dramatically was the unincorporated community of [[East Blythe, California]]. According to Kulp, the SM&B name was applied to two companies (NJ & NY), so they probably only had charter rights to the state line in the vicinity of Boston Corners. The line from State Line to Northampton would have been an extension of the Mass. Central, but it's not clear whether it would have been built under their charter, or whether they did/would have had to charter another railroad to construct that line. As for the route east of Boston Corners, my educated guess would be that the original SM&B (NY) charter had rights Liberty Corners (NY/NJ state line) to Boston Corners. However, the SM&B (NY) doesn't seem to have been included in the renaming and subsequent mergers/reorganizations of the SM&B (NJ) which were limited to PA and NJ. Per Kulp, the line from Liberty Corners to Pine Island (on the Erie RR) was graded by the PS&NE and track laid by the PP&B, which then chartered the Campbell Hall Connecting Railroad in NY and turned over the track to it, presumably because the loss of the SM&B (NY) left them with no NY charter. By this time, the route beyond Campbell Hall was CNE&W. [[User:Choess|Choess]] 22:00, July 23, 2005 (UTC) |

Here's the sequence of events, as I remember them: Someone (possibly Snowspinner, not sure) kickbanned and then unbanned soon after (long enough for the autorejoin to fail) a user who had been lurking and was suspected of being a Scientologist logging the channel, and was apparently in the same IP range as Scientologists. (It turned out to be a newbie who was puzzled at being kicked.) Kmccoy argued that this was rather over the top, and said that he could send the Scientologists logs and nothing could be done about it. Snowspinner then removed his channel op priveleges. --[[User:SPUI|SPUI]] ([[User talk:SPUI|talk]]) 07:33, 30 July 2005 (UTC) |
:SPUI, I'm terribly sorry, but I'm afraid you got the whole IRC thing the wrong way round. It was I, not Snowspinner, who kick-ban-unbanned the user; it wasn't particularly that we thought he was a Scientologist, but more that the user had been logged on for something like 75 hours without any activity, and had an auto-rejoin on, so we assumed that the user may have been a logger and kick-ban-unbanned the user just so that the user is no longer on channel (not denying channel access, or performing any kind of disciplinary procedure - after all, it is meant to be a channel for chatting). As you rightly pointed out, the user was a newbie, and I apologised to said user and explained the situation. Kmccoy was upset about the fact that I'd kicked a perfectly innocent user off the channel, and said that he might as well send logs to anyone who might wish to collect them (using the Church of Scientology as an example, as we've been having some trouble with CoS-related personnel lately). Snowspinner only removed Kmccoy's ops for about 15 minutes just to prove his point; he gave them back afterwards, and didn't mean any harm by doing so. The ultimate irony of the scenario is, after all, the fact that I am a Scientologist. --[[User:NicholasTurnbull|NicholasTurnbull]] 17:09, 31 July 2005 (UTC) |

==Google Maps Links== |
In response to your question on my talk page about why I was using Google Map links for the locations on the Interstate connection points, the simple fact is that I know about them. I was not aware of any other method available here for providing a link the user could click on to go directly to a map, except maybe for the U.S. Census Tiger Map server and their comments are that they don't really want to become a map site for general use by the public. (I gather what they're really trying to do is provide a resource for people creating small maps to download and put elsewhere although they seem to imply they don't want that either.) |

Google's map page also provides a "clickable link" that is useful for the purpose of providing a link to the particular map in question at the resolution given. Now, if you know of something else - such as your suggestion of the TerraserverUSA system and some Wikipedia internal template that can reference it - that supplies clearly visible maps that a single link can go directly to that point and show it on a map, I'm all ears in hearing about it. I'll be more than happy to use something else either in place of or in addition to Google's mapping system. I think the one supplied by Google works nicely, but if there is something better and/or easier to use for a reference, that's fine. |

The template you recommended doesn't provide direct access to a map, it provides a page of links to maps. I will add that template reference but I think providing a direct link to Google will be more useful. Also, I am, however, not sure what you mean by "won't work in all browsers" as Google's map system works in both Netscape 7.2 and IE. Maybe it doesn't work in older browsers I will include dual references, I think so if it doesn't work using Google maps they can try another one. I'd be happy to include other map server references if there is a direct "clickable link" feature allowing one to directly go to the specific map image. ==[[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion|Speedy deletion]] nomination of [[:Interstate 109 (California)]]== |

The coordinate template <nowiki>{{coor d|lat|fraction|long|fraction}} is ugly. I don't want to show the latitude and longitude. And I am not interested in putting in two references, I tried creating a template <nowiki>{{</nowiki>[[template:Google Map|Google Map]]}} to create a Google link to a map and automatically create a cross-link to others but it doesn't work, I'm not sure why. So I'm sticking with what does work, which is the direct reference to Google. If you can figure a way to make the template work so I can pass parameters to it, then I'd be happy to use it. But the most important thing is having a direct immediate link to the map point for the point in question. |

By the way, if you choose to use a non-standard browser and standard features don't work in it, that's your problem. Google's use of background requests to load images while other things are being shown or drawn works with Netscape 7 which means it also works with Firefox and anything using the Mozilla codebase. And it also works with IE. I would presume it also works with Opera. That probably covers 99.9% of all browsers in use. |

There were routes both sorted with and without initial zeros, which made the whole concept not work properly. Personally, I liked the sort key being the first digit, as otherwise you have a crapload of things showing up in the Wikipedia index under "0". From a generalized encyclopedia sorting standpoint (not a road numbering standpoint), this was unreadable to me, because it meant there were no useful headings in the index. |

If you would like to make test edits, please use the [[Wikipedia:Sandbox|sandbox]]. Nice work on the Chicago rail terminals template. I'm impressed that, in the 24 hours since I wrote/expanded those articles, they're getting so much attention. |

== Speedy deletion nomination of Do you still beat your wife == |

:A good source of info on old rail infrastructure is HABS/HAER, the files for which you can find at the Library of Congress website [http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/habs_haer/ here]. Each entry has photos from the 60s or 70s as well as extensive history and, sometimes, measured drawings (although the entry for Central Station seems to be missing the history). |
Hello, SPUI |
:The Nickel Plate did indeed use Illinois Central Station (Central Station) until the mid-50s, I think, at which point its association with the New York Central caused its trains to be moved to LaSalle Street, which was the NYC's Chicago terminal. If you've got any other questions, please feel free to ask. This is an area of interest for me. --[[User:Boreas231|Boreas231]] 03:31, 12 August 2005 (UTC) |

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged [[:Do you still beat your wife]] for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article. |
Hey, nice work on the train stations, especially the Chicago Terminals infobox. I've been agonizing over what to do with them for weeks now, but what you've done tops anything I could come up with. Bravo! 14:11, August 12, 2005 (UTC) |
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can <span class="plainlinks">'''[//en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Talk:Do_you_still_beat_your_wife&action=edit§ion=new&preload=Template:Hangon_preload&preloadtitle=This+page+should+not+be+speedy+deleted+because...+ contest this deletion]'''</span>, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. |
:You're right; I must have been mistaken about the NKP's association with the NYC. What I am certain about, though, is that (Illinois) Central Station was the only major terminal to have existed at the eastern end of 12th Street (aka Roosevelt Road). It was sometimes referred to as "12th Street Station". The remaining commuter station's name is "12th Street-Roosevelt Road". The non-electrified intercity tracks on the IC alignment have now been reconfigured, but there used to be a direct link of quadruple tracks from Central Station to a junction just south of LaSalle Street Station. The connection has now been reduced to double tracks and simplified so that northbound freight trains cross over the commuter tracks under McCormick Place and turn west, connecting to the BNSF (ex-CBQ) over the old St. Charles Airline bridge. |
You can leave a note on [[User talk:Caorongjin|my talk page]] if you have questions. Thanks! |
:As for pinning down the date of the terminal switch, you might try looking for a series called ''The Official guide of the railways and steam navigation lines of the United States, Porto Rico, Canada, Mexico and Cuba.'' It was published annually by the National Railway Publication Company, and includes maps and timetables for every passenger railroad in the U.S., as well as some scheduled freight info. I think it's available in most large university libraries. The Library of Congress call number for the series is HE2727.O3. --[[User:Boreas231|Boreas231]] 14:58, 12 August 2005 (UTC) |

I think it should be consistent with what a passenger would see before boarding a train. The problem is that on through trains, SEPTA crews sometimes put a "Center City Philadelphia" sign on the train, and other times use the ultimate destination of the train. I think "Center City Philadelphia" without a link works best.--[[User:Luciuskwok|Luciuskwok]] 11:57, 25 August 2005 (UTC) |

I think as long as it's clear in the article that the station is in the Philadelphia area, "Center City" works. My preference is to be more verbose in situations where there is ambiguity. --[[User:Luciuskwok|Luciuskwok]] 12:14, 25 August 2005 (UTC) |

I've now made [[Ontario provincial highway 58A]] redirect to [[Townline Tunnel]], since it doesn't really make sense to have a separate article about it IMHO. == VIA stations == |
The form [[Kitchener, Ontario railway station]] (see [[:Category:Canadian railway stations]]) seems to me much more effective for stations named after the city they serve than [[Grimsby (VIA station)]]; for a start, it specifies the province, which is important given that not all city names are unique. It also matches the form that has been used quite successfully for articles about Britain (see examples such as [[Windermere railway station]]), which has far more passenger railway services than anywhere in North America, not to mention all sorts of cities with multiple stations, complicated routes, and the like. |
In many cases, the stations also pre-date VIA, and a number are shared with other railways (I was planning to rename shared VIA-[[GO Transit|GO]] stations such as [[Aldershot (GO Station)]] to the more generic form). [[User:DavidArthur|David Arthur]] 21:04, September 2, 2005 (UTC) |
:I see no reason why information about a railway station's predecessor couldn't be included in the same article, though it seems there are few enough people interested in writing articles about even the stations that ''do'' still exist ([[Pacific Central Station (Vancouver)]] still lacks an entry). When two railways operate from separate stations, there may be call for separate articles (for a parallel of sorts, see [[Canary Wharf tube station]] and [[Canary Wharf DLR station]]), but when there's only one station, I don't think it's productive to attach an individual carrier's name to it, especially when it's shared. The pipe trick is useful, but I personally don't think it's worth having a less-appropriate title in order to save typing. [[User:DavidArthur|David Arthur]] 21:19, September 2, 2005 (UTC) |

You say the InfoMi webpages don't add anything to the articles. I couldn't disagree more. Other than the maps showing the location of the corresponding county, there are no photographs, and bookmarking the webpages gives the articles pictures and, in some cases, some extra info the Wiki articles don't. Thanks in advance for the map. I received several comments about this and I don't have a way to make one. I noticed you did some editing. Thanks for this, too. The Wikitravel article does have a complete route, the Springfield-St. Louis section is there, but it might be hard to find. I'll go ahead and leave it off, though, it seemed strange there, but I didn't know where else to put it. If you have the time, I would appreciate a second set of eyes going through it and seeing if anything else turns up. I would really like to see this become a featured article. Thanks again. Harry Bundy of our Virginian Railway group on Yahoo is a retiree of the original Norfolk Southern and an excellent source for information,a s is warren Calloway. We may be able to get some good ikages, logo help, etc. There is also a group on Yahoo for the original Norfolk Southern. I moderate one and belong to the other. :I did not recreate it. The original deletion was in error, as it was deleted for no source the day after it was uploaded (without giving 7 days). The original uploader re-uploaded it. ==Norfolk Southern (former)== |

I hope you did not mind my nominating your NS article for the DYK feature and adding to it. The various Yahoo rail groups are excited about it. A fellow named Harry Bundy who is active in my [http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/VirginianRailwayEnthusiasts/ Virginian railway Enthusiasts Yahoo group] (550 members online!) is something like a 50-year veteran. Railfans have noted that the original NS (as they seem to call it) may hold some kind of record for its many financial reorganizations. Here are some notes from Harry about the article: |
"Mark: |
A few corrections: |
There is reference to Mackey. Prior to the trestle (1910), this was listed |
in timetables as Mackey's Ferry. After, the station became Mackeys. |
It also notes that this station is "on the other side of the Albemarle |
Sound from Elizabeth City". It's on the other side of the Albemarle Sound from |
Edenton. |
Virginia and Carolina Coast Railroad - later the Suffolk & Carolina. In addition to the line between Suffolk south to Edenton, the S&C also had a line from Beckford Jct. (on the Suffolk-Edenton section) to Elizabeth City. |
The Egyptian Railroad. It isn't said, and not many people know, but North |
Carolina had coal near Cumnock. It was known as the Egyptian field. NS |
steam locomotives burned coal from the Egyptian field until about 1935. As |
one engineer noted - "it packed all the btu's of a day-old cow pie". |
Trivia - Chocowinity was named Marsden to reduce having to send the eleven- |
alphas. As Texas Gulf Sulphur began receiving shipments, Marsden became |
the governing agency. In 1966 BZC (before zip codes), the agent at Timbuktu |
would send any correspondence regarding shipments to AGENT-Marsden, NC. |
Marsden wasn't a post office. The mail would usually be received by the SAL |
agent at Marston, NC and he, being a railroad familiar, would forward it to Chocowinity. So at one midnight in 1966, Marsden became Chocowinity and the NS went back to 1917 because in repeating train orders, stations are spelled out letter-by-letter. Care to guess what dunce was working the night ALL bulletin orders had to be rewritten showing Chocowinity instead of Marsden, and then repeated to the dispatcher?" |
Harry Bundy |
I must learn to do spell checking before releasing my work (due to my motor coordination disability, I transpose letters, creating misspelling a 2nd grader could avoid). Thus, the image file of the night shot of the NS passenger train on the Albemarle Sound was misspelled. I highly recommend the ieSpell program. Good article. I hope it makes the main page. |
BTW, if you get a chance to come up with a simple map of the [[Historic Triangle]], it would enhance that article a great deal, I believe. Thanks! |

I wanted to ask you about the fair use images on [[Rhode Island State Highways/Map sources]]. :Ok, I was just wondering. The difficulty is of course that Rand McNally would be able to claim that they were being defrauded by this as people could use these instead of their wonderful atlases, but I find that pretty unlikely (especially since they'd be hard to print out) so I'm willing to not worry about it. --[[User:Fastfission|Fastfission]] 15:57, 25 September 2005 (UTC) |

Proposed deletion of Antwerp, New York (disambiguation)
[edit]The article Antwerp, New York (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Per WP:2DABS, best to use direct hatnote in these circumstances
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Boleyn (talk) 17:08, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Mountain passes of Kentucky
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Mountain passes of Kentucky requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Compass Rose Corporation
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Orphaned non-free image File:Chessie System logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Chessie System logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:12, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Do you still beat your wife
[edit]Hello, SPUI
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Do you still beat your wife for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!
