Minimal Niacin dose for intramuscular injection enough for a flushing

Thank you for your edits of Niacin. There was a minimal dose specified to produce flushing. However, it was not specified whether it was an oral dose or IM/IV dose. Probably the oral one. If so, we should clarify that. Do you have a good source at hand? Also, it seems that for IM/IV path, even doses as small as 10 mg are enough to produce flushing. In a country where I live (Republic of Moldova), nicotinic acid is only available in pharmacies, as a separate substance, in injectable form only. The oral form is only available in small doses as a vitamin-B complex together with other vitamins. In Russia, situation is the same - the main form is injectable, albeit the tablets of nicotinic acid are avaialable as a serarate substance, the injectable form is more widespread. That's why I have asked to you emphasize on the form of niacin. By the way, I have substantially edited the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CYP4F2 today. Could you please review it, maybe you may have some ideas on how can I improve it? About your comment here about leaving the citation needed rather than deleting. I find that the prevailing attitude in the circle of editors who work with medical articles the most is that statements without citations must be immediately deleted. Mike Turnbull, Mertbiol - Thank you both for offer and patience. Actually, intending to start my replies to the GA review today. As for the medical path, first I got COVID and started Paxlovid. Five days later my wife tested positive and started Paxlovid. Five days after ending treatment, I tested positive again (am now negative again), and five days after my wife's treatment she tested positive again (and then today, negative!). Luckily, rebound symptoms were not too severe for either of us, and no evidence at present for post-COVID symptoms. David notMD (talk) 15:59, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Yes that Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir#Rebound is quite common and one of the reasons that I don't think that therapy will be a long-term winner. Provided one is vaccinated I don't think most people need anti-virals as well. My own infection with omicron earlier this year proved to be mild, fortunately. BluesRock007 You had an abandoned draft created by someone else back in 2020 (Draft:Eliza Neals) unabandoned earlier this month. Separately, User:Derek R Bullmore created an article about her, leaving a note on your Talk page to this effect. A third editor removed the connection to the draft, so that it now forwards to the article. What I suggest is that you look at the article and see if it can be improved. Although the draft no longer exists, if you click on Veiw history at the existing article, you can see and retrieve the content you had previously added to the defunct draft. John Maynard Friedman Ericnex13's account is less than a week old. Yes, all edits to date have been reverted. Ericnex13 has been warned. I am willing to see if behavior improves before recommending blocking. P.S. Coincidently, I live in Maynard, Massachusetts. Maynard was a common surname in England, dating back centuries (also as Mainard). In our instance, Amory Maynard moved to a small community informally named Assabet Village in 1846 and built a large woolen mill. When it came time to apply to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for a forma name in 1871, given that he employed most of the people and owned most of the housing, it was "unanimous" that the town was named after him. Teahouse thread

Hi, David, just to give more context to what happened in that Teahouse thread: The original post was made by The Anti-patroll, but the second was made by The Anto-patroll, a completely separate user who was registered *after* both the initial post and my reply to it. Both of the second user's edits were referencing the long-term abuse account Willy on Wheels; it's almost certainly not *that* LTA, but there are other LTAs that like to imitate that one. Either way, it's an extremely strong indicator that it was a vandalism-only account, attempting to perform a joe job on the original Teahouse poster, hoping a hasty admin would mix up the two due to the similar usernames and block the wrong account. Given this context, I don't believe it is unduly harsh, nor a record for blocking an obviously bad-faith account (and that it would take quite a bit more than "I was being childish and stupid and immature, and will never do it again" to get them unblocked), but as always you're welcome to seek a second opinion or whatever else you want to do. Doc James Yes, vitamin D was the most distant from US and EU, so good to see where that came from. I considered folate at 400 as significantly lower than US and EU, both at 600, but the latter two were for dietary folate equivalents, with the understanding that a supplement has 1.7X the bioavailability of foor sourced. Ref 2, page 54, pointed out that the product in the table incorporated 400 of supplement, equivalent to 680 of dietary folate equivalent, and thus not lower than the other two values. I saw also that the ref your listed has 55 mg vitamin C for pregnancy and 70 for lactating. Let me know if you feel that the article would be better with US and EU columns abd explanation for the differences. I would be willing to work on that. The COI tag was put there in early May of last year when one of the editors of the article (Hannayana) was still active on it; it was this editor who created an impression of "COI". This editor is not longer active; in fact, Hannayana has not edited this article since then, thus the activity that caused the COI has been stopped. Another point: Bonadea, the editor who put the COI tag, was not one of the frequent editors of the article; his only contribution to the article was the COI tag. (It seems that he is no longer active as an editor on Wikipedia.) Since the COI has been resolved, I would appreciate it if you reinstate my removal of the COI tag. Happy New Year! Henrylukas12 To my understanding, a COI tag is appropriate if an editor with a known personal connection to the subject of the article has made a significant series of edits to the article. Just because that person has ceased to edit does not mean the COI is no longer valid. If over time, other edits have modified, added, subtracted content, so that the impact has been diluted, only then is removing a COI appropriate. In this instance, User:Hannayana made scores of edits to the NK article between February 2022 and April 2023 and there have been only minor changes since then. Ashvik08122023 First, I am not a Reviewer of drafts, just a Teahouse Host who advises. However, in looking at Draft:T S Nandakumar my thinking is that it needs revision. Naming a long list of people he has played with does not contribute to his notability (notability is not contagious). The many awards are considered too minor by Wikipedia to contribute to notability, although there is still a benefin in including perhaps the most important 4-5. Perhaps the best you can do is submit again and see what the next reviewer writes. If that person declines it, you can ask for a bit more guidance on that person's Talk page. Michael Eamon Herbst You can create either a second Sandbox (Sandbox2) or create a draft with the draft prefix (preferred). See Wikipedia:Drafts to start process. Be aware that "Publish changes" saves the draft as a draft. As with what is in your current Sandbox, when you think you are done, submiting the draft puts it in a backlog of drafts waiting for a reviewer, as part of the Articles for Creation (AfC) process. The backlog - now approaching 2,000 - is not a queue, so a submitted draft may be reviewed in days, weeks, or (sadly) months. You can continue to work on it while waiting for the reviewer. Drafts can be accepted, declined, rejected (as in not good enough to try improving it) and Speedy deleted. Reviewers of declined drafts give one or more reasons. New article on an Intergovermental Organization

Hello David!

I'm working at an intergovernmental organization that have 11 member states.

I've brought up to my supervisors that having a factual article of our organization will be helpful in helping people understand what we do.

As such, they have allowed me to do some research.

We aim to be an uncontroversial organization whose goal is to improve trade and investment among our member countries and we conduct activities that aim to contribute to that.

What I would like to ask is: - can I submit an article? - what is the process like, how is it different from submitting articles of private companies? - there are government sources from member states about our organization as well, will that be considered as secondary sources? - can we cite our own publications for stuff like the list of our past Secretaries-general/activities?

Byrnachi Government and non-gov organizations have to meet similar requirements as commercial companies. See WP:NCORP for establishing notability. Also see WP:42 for standards for refs. Employees can submit draft via the Articles for Creation (AfC) process described at WP:YFA, but first you needs to declare your paid relationship. See WP:PAID]. Content must be referenced. Both of them were under investigation for fraud and fraudulent schemes by the state of Missouri, because the state of Missouri had caught onto the grifting that they were doing, and the fraud they were committing with all of these various nonprofits . I think it’s notable to remove her from the Munchhausen by proxy victim list because she is not a victim of Munchhausen by proxy. She was a performer in her mother fraudulent schemes that she went along with if you watch the trailers for the lifetime series, her cousin even says that she used to push her cousins around in the wheelchair. Improving article with removed content

Hello David,

thanks for your comments these past days on the Lev Gatovsky article. I am writting to you because a user removed a section based on copyright, and for some reason I cannot access to that change in order to recover the text I had written.

My idea would be to improve it and use more of my own writting, as I understand that was problem. The source seemed legitimate and I cited with as much info. as I could get. But without the original text to start from is even more difficult. Do you know how could I retrieve it? Do you have other suggestions of things I could use to improve the page in view of the DYK nomination?

FranGallego33 Copyright infringement is a cardinal sin for Wikipedia. The Administrator who removed it from the article history will not return it. If I remember correctly, the Edit summary named the sites that were copied, so you have the option of going to those, copying content to your computer, revising so that the facts are now expressed in your own words, then pasting that into the article with the websites as references. Light paraphrasing is not enough.The DYK reviewer will detemine if your earlier edits that expanded the article were sufficient to meet the 5X qualification. thanks for your reply. After several hours, I wrote every line of the section myself, paraphrasing as much as I could. Not only that but I also linked all the relevant words to other pages. Minutes after that someone has deleted the whole section because I wrote the reference in the heading, which takes less time to solve than writting the explanation.

Am I doing something wrong? Is it not allowed to use that source?

FranGallego33 Drmies is a very experienced editor/Administrator. Your edits are running afoul of basic Wikipedia rules. External links is reserved for a few items that don't work as references, for example for a living person, that person's website. Would any of what Drmies deleted there have value as references? Section titles do not get references. The purpose of a ref is to validate a factual statement in the text; titles are not factual statements. The article also has blocks of text that are essay like rather than encyclopaedic, and without references. For example, who's words are these? Yes, I totally understand the reasons for the edits. What surprised me was the fact of deleting instead of leaving a banner asking for sources, a comment on the talk page or something that may give me a bit of a head start, instead of completely deleting the text.

The reason I had put the citation in the header was that was my main source for the whole section. So I thought that by putting it there it would encompass the whole section. I will rewrite it even if I have to repeat the source several times then.

The same with the sentences you have taken. They came from another source that was already cited and in the Biblio, so I didn't put them not to repeat the citation several times.

I do not know Gatovsky either, I just found an article with two sentences and an interesting claim. I thought it would be nice to recover someone from oblivion. Finding sources for him is very difficult and that's why I tend to repeat them.

I'll try to upload everything, properly cited, even if I have to repeat sources so there's no doubt that the text is original. Regarding the external links, I understand that too, I'll try to get the citations and leave only the links for which I cannot cite.

It was just the dramatism of such deletions instead of leaving a comment so I can improve them with a bit of time. Having to write a whole section for an edit that can take me a couple of minutes to solve it's a bit discouraging...

The Admin who did this described it as "Unambiguous advertising or promotion: self written vanity page", which is forbidden. The Admin also provided links to see WP:COI, WP:RS, WP:Notability (people) to further explain.

Wikipedia has articles about people, not blogs or social media content or websites by people. To qualify for an article, there must be publications about a person written by people with no personal or paid connection to that person. People are advised against trying to create an article about themselves (or a topic of personal interest to themselves) (see WP:AUTO). All facts in an article must be verified by references. At my end, the specifics of what you want added are not covered in any references I find, or else the absorption physiology is so complicated (active and passive absorption, vitamins bound to transporter proteins in circulation but also not bound), that what you want is impossible to state and verify. Lev Gatovsky again

It's me again, after a user rejected the nomination the other day I got the motivation to go back to the page and try to edit as good as I can to make it comply with the standards. Today I see that somebody deleted all of the work done during these months, work that had already being seen by other editors including you. So, if you don't mind, I'm going to paste the message I have left to the editor that rejected the nomination, and I ask you the same thing I ask him at the end:

I am the user that has done most of the work regarding Lev Gatovsky's page. I agree that Political economy terms regarding soviet affairs can be frankly difficult to understand sometimes. My idea was of course to try to "dumb it down" a bit for the common reader that is not used to this type of talking. This can be done with time, summarizing the content and linking it to other terms that appear in other articles. But I dont think being difficult to understand makes it necessarily bad, as there are plenty of wikipedia articles that have very complex topics as well for the common reader.

I do agree some sections are maybe too long for the relevance of its content, and my plan as I said was to summarize them even more when I had the time, but at least I had them there. These texts that I had to translate manually from articles of the time written in Russian (a language I do not speak), and then I wrote them with my own words (except the ones that are properly sourced as a quotation block). The reason for why there aren't many sources is just that: there aren't many sources from him, or at least no easily available. So I had to repeat the same one several times (another experienced editor suggested me that this was better than just referencing once a whole section).

My personal theory is that he was censored by the Soviet government later in his life and thats why is difficult to find material. That is the same reason there is almost no biographical information about him, as I had to take it bit by bit from different sources. All of this was explained in the talk page of the article.

The early life section was not my own idea, but the work of another experienced editor, and the fact that it mentions at the beginning that he was jewish is that I was not sure where to mention it in the text. As I said, I didnt have enough material for the biographical part. But as an economist, I think his work is definetely relevant and important to be discussed. The fact that he was director of the soviet institute of economics for so many years kind of indicates the importance he had on the field.

Still, as I said, this work I have been doing mainly alone, so I havent had the time to work on it properly, which I was counting on doing along this month.

After all of this I guess you can understand my surprise when I see that another user has deleted almost everything reverting the page to its original state. Leaving a claim that is indeed false: he was not the first soviet economist to bring up the objetive rules (whatever that means) of soviet economy.

I understand the rejection of the nomination, but I hope you can also understand what a waste would be to censor this person for a second time in his life. I hope you can help me bring back the page to its recent state, so I can continue working on implementing your suggestions.

Hello David, I'd definitely like to keep the family photographs of Ensign Bobbie R. Allen and Lt(jg) Arlene E. Allen as well as the historical family photograph of Joe and Dolly Allen and their families.

The photograph of my Great-grandparents and their family are an important source for this article because the photograph displays the life of East Texas families in the early 1900's and it's a valid way to communicate Bobbie R. Allen's unusual Biography.

Regarding inclusion of the photographs of Ensign Bobbie R. Allen and Lt(jg) Arlene E. Allen, the photo's included are also important references as they both were U.S. Navy officers in WWII. The photos support the Biography but I could possibly try and change the category of Own Work to U.S. Govt. Photograph as their photos were technically created by a Navy Photographer. B vitamins Safety Info

Hi David, re https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B6#Dietary_recommendations Ref 35 of the requested link I gave you on my Talk page is the 2023 revised European Vitamin B6 Upper Limit. As per that message, I should make wp a low priority, yet there are severe consequences of not making current ULs and safety info readily available to busy readers scanning wp for ULs, and you rolled back my warning par without replacing it with something better despite that I gave you the requested ref in that msg.

I note you arranged the DRIs for all B vitamins - thanks for that work! And it is at least consistent to start with the minimum vit reqs, then followed by the safety info, especially if ULs are not available for all vits. Yet I suggest the main danger for most wp readers are excess vits due to B vits being added to NoDoz, Corn Flakes, and many (most??) supplements. Hence I suggest:

• a long term goal should be to arrange all wp vit articles to give safety info first, followed by min / avg reqs
• the safety info should be arranged by reverse chronological order - if the European UL is more current than the USA UL, put the Europeans first
• where there is controversy or any other need for extensive reading, that should be flagged at the start of the relevant section with an unreferenced overview par (with the refs appearing in the subsequent overviewed pars).

Currently the B6 article leads with a 1998 USA UL of 100mg, with the European 2007(??) 25mg UL buried several lines below, with no mention of the 2023 European 12mg UL, and no indication for busy readers that they should read beyond the USA UL. As per my msg on my talk page, this is dangerous. I will give you time to receive this current msg and edit as you see fit, otherwise I will just revert B6 back to my added par - I could add the 2023 European ref, but given your msg on my talk page said you were not aware of any changes since 2008, and your extensive work on the B vits (thanks again!), I hope you would want to add that ref yourself. Your response might be to instead require me to learn to jump thru the wp procs you deem necessary, but I say again I don't have the time, so I would pre-empt any edit war by appealing to other senior editors with the comment that wp needs to make it easy for concerned readers to improve dangerous articles as a higher priority than perfect consistency and wp procedure.

Perhaps the only outstanding issue is (further?) warning that many older multivitamins sold as recently as a few months(?) ago (in Australia) had dosages totaling higher that revised ULs, and that there can(??) be side-effects that might be significant even though they may fly below the radar of researchers checking for serious illnesses. Not at all sure how this could / should be done without POV / OR, yet as per msg on my Talk page, it is serious - I will leave it in your capable hands as you see fit.

A tedious consequence is that Pharma is massively lowering some doses (e.g. B6 and Zn), and a cynical person might think this is so that they can sell supplements like candy without fear of causing OD. E.g. I noticed* my fav Vit C + Zn is being run out at half price (I bought 5 jars :-), with the new Swisse 'Immune' version having with Zn reduced from 50mg to 5mg. Fair enough, I s'pose, given that frequent dosing throughout the day Might be more efficacious - I'll just quarter the 50mg pills :-) (I think I read that recent research suggests the C+Zn only works for the Zn-deficient, but I will happily stick with my fav placebo.) If you notice any non-OR stuff tracking multi-vit dosages, it might make a useful article.

(*It was noticing this run-out that caused me to check vit dosage recommendations, and thus realise why my friend suffered for 18 months before a very alert GP reviewed her B6 consumption. DEF2051 No. Med/health articles call for re3ferences that comply with WP:MEDRS. Case studies do not belong anywhere. What is needed is non-journal publications that can be used to verify more information about the syndrome - what are the signs and symptoms, a bit on history of when the gene defect was identified as cause, any treatments, etc. The article needs to b e longer than just the one sentence.

NinjaMiura See Help:Referencing for beginners for how to create refs and insert those into the text. Also, for when there are articles about supercars, those articles will have refs. @Bantomey TOI can be a reliable reference source, but TOI also accepts and prints press-release type content for payment. IMDb, which you added as a ref before resubmitting, is not accepted as a reliable source by Wikipedia because anyone can add to it. Draft: Mainspring Energy

Thank you kindly for taking an interest in this article, and making some improvements to it. You will note from my past editing that I have an interest in nuclear energy/nunclear physics. This Mainspring Energy is a novel company I learned about a few weeks ago. I believe they make an excellent product, and they will become very successful. While it is a branch of chemical energy (they can burn fossil fuel, or biogas, etc.), I found their approach to energy production to be quite novel and worthy of an article. I am working on responses to DoubleGrazing and to Bobby Cohn at the moment and just wanted to check in with you first.

(1) DoubleGrazing gave me a 'heads up' on conflict of interest (the subject of my AfC was my father) and (2) Bobby Cohn flagged up the need for more independently verifiable citations to avoid wholesale deletions of unsubstantiated text.

For (1) and if you have time, please could you review the COI declaration that I have inserted at the beginning of my AfC and for (2), I am planning to work my way through the text paragraph by paragraph adding citations that I have been able to identify and research.

If you are able to let me know if I am on the right track, I would be most grateful.
