A new newsletter directory is out!
A new Newsletter directory has been created to replace the old, out-of-date one. If your WikiProject and its taskforces have newsletters (even inactive ones), or if you know of a missing newsletter (including from sister projects like WikiSpecies), please include it in the directory! The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.

Naming conventions for public statues
See Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Visual_arts#Naming_conventions_for_public_statues. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:20, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
Article titles
There is a discussion about titles for articles on statues etc at Wikipedia talk:Article titles which may be of interest. PamD 07:08, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
- Please? We really need editors editing public art to be in the conversation. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 21:31, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
- This one's tough. I'm waiting to see where we land, because many articles are likely going to need to be moved. I'm guilty of using several conventions because there was so much inconsistency, as well as differences based on region. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:53, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
- I know. I pushed myself to say something. I think the conversation is important because new sculpture and other public art articles are coming, and they may be titled haphazardly. A statement addressing the issues would be very useful. One question I have, does the art literature name these things differently to the public media? —SmokeyJoe (talk) 22:17, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool
Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Public art in Boston
Hello, fellow public art lovers. Ahead of the upcoming WikiConference North America, which will be held in Boston in November, I'm creating a project page listing public artworks in the city at Wikipedia:WikiProject Sculpture/Boston.
Surprisingly, there were only 6 Wikipedia articles about public art in Boston, before this month. So far I've created Boston Massacre Monument, Equestrian statue of Joseph Hooker, Statue of Charles Sumner (Boston), Statue of Charles Sumner (Cambridge, Massachusetts), and Statue of Wendell Phillips, as well as List of public art in Boston and Template:Public art in Boston. I'll be continuing work on Boston's public art in the next couple months and invite any project members to help out! Could be a fun little collaboration. :)
Thanks, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:52, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
Task force?
Should WikiProject Public Art be converted into a task force of WikiProject Visual arts?
The necessity of this project has been questioned at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sculpture. I'm not advocating for merging or maintaining a standalone project, but I'm pinging folks in Category:WikiProject Public art participants for feedback.
What do project members prefer? Pros and cons for merging vs. staying independent? Let's discuss! ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:44, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Status
I see User:Tom (LT) has marked this project as "semi-active". Do any project members object? Thoughts on converting to a task force? Hard for me to accept there's limited interest in public art on Wikipedia. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:14, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
- I think this project saw it's heyday when we started it initially, years and years ago. At this point I'd just merge it into WP Visual art. Missvain (talk) 16:10, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping, I hope that status update was not taken too hard - I just happened to notice there was not that much activity in these parts. To be honest I think task forces are often better for these sorts of clearly defined areas. That’s because there’s more editors that can become involved and because the time spent maintaining a task force vs project is much less. Au revoir! (Please ping me if you are going to reply :) ), --Tom (LT) (talk) 23:24, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
