It can cause a range of kidney problems not just failure. Plus the ref does not mention acute and chronic. We should really not extrapolate beyond what the ref says. If you want to add further details you should find a ref that supports its. Risk Factors for Multiple Myeloma
Isn't the largest risk factor for developing MM age? The article states that the average age of onset is 70. Are other risk factor like obesity larger?
- Obesity not mentioned in this recent review: doi:10.1053/j.seminoncol.2016.11.004. African Americans have a substantially increased risk, and this may extend to Afro-Caribbeans. JFW | T@lk 19:29, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Cardiovascular Effects.
Not sure if this is worthy of its own spot in the article. I just did a question on a board exam source (USMLE Step 1) and it was referencing the damage to the heart from MM. I haven't been able to find anything specific aside from the hemodynamic changes. My guess was these hemodynamic changes may mess with our heart's output and lead to High-Output Heart Failure. If someone can make a confirmation and maybe fit this in somewhere that would be beneficial. ---- Paul K. | MechE | MSY-2 | Chemist | Let's talk 13:46, 24 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Paulkarr: Such a point would require a high quality secondary source. The main concern is cardiac amyloid from light chain disease. JFW | T@lk 14:27, 24 September 2019 (UTC)
