Current alerts |
This page documents vandalism in progress. Please report users engaging in vandalism at the top of the "Current alerts" list below. Please only use this page for repeated malicious vandalism, not for one-off edits, or newbie tests. If you discover newbie testing and feel like the user could use some help, please list them at Wikipedia:Clueless newbies. Except in cases of vandalbot or other rapid-fire attacks, please warn users and wait for further vandalism before listing them here. Do not list non-vandalism (see Cautions and alternatives below).

|
Please list the IP address or user name, pages touched, and damage done. Sign your name using ~~~~ after your report. Put the person's IP or username in the edit summary.
User:Ravinesh rds is delting images and text from articles relating to the human body.
- Cautions and alternatives
- Please do not bite the newcomers by listing newbie tests as vandalism. Instead, assume good faith and list them at Wikipedia:Clueless newbies. If you suspect an edit may be vandalism but are unsure, list the edit on RC patrol. See NPOV dispute, Accuracy dispute and Requests for comment for content disputes. Page protection may be requested. Report three revert rule violations at WP:AN/3RR.
- If you come across very recent vandalism where it seems that the perpetrator should be blocked immediately (and has already been warned), try listing your report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism.
- Archives and related pages
- How to spot vandalism, Dealing with vandalism, /Archive 1, /Archive 2, /archive06072004, /Archive 20040724, /Archive200408, /Archive200409, /Archive200410, /Archive200411, /Archive200412, /Archive200501, /Archive200502, /Archive200503, /Archive200504, /Archive200504-1 /New Imperialism, /Mr. Treason, /Wik, Old page history (pre May 2004)
- Blocks and other tools
- List of blocked users, information on an IP, network tools, Whois, Meta:Finding network abuse contacts, Trace the location of an IP address
Pages suffering from repeated vandalism
See Wikipedia:Most vandalized pages.
- This page is not a noticeboard. To report vandalism, use the administrators' vandalism noticeboard.
This page summarises a limited number of long term abusers, to assist members of the community who believe they may have cause to report another incident. Note that this page is not a noticeboard. Names should only be added for the most egregious and well-attested cases. Most users here will have been banned, some on multiple occasions.
In the vast majority of cases, denying recognition and revert, block, ignore are more suitable approaches. |
- Cautionary notes
- Don't provide too much info
- The text should tread a careful balance between providing useful information and providing enough to obstruct detection. In general such information should only be shared with users of a high level of reputation.
- Hints on useful info
- Consider providing just a summary of the behaviors and nature of disruption, key case pages (SPI/ANI/RFAR), and the names of current experienced users familiar with the abuser (with their "giveaways", history, behavior traits, etc.)
- Don't use LTA unless needed
- Only add vandals that have a need to be pointed out, especially ones whose contributions could be confused for good-faith edits by somebody unfamiliar with their modus operandi. This includes sneaky sockpuppeteers, prolific trolls, POV-pushers, editors who add deliberately false or biased information and promotional editors. Blatant vandals whose sockpuppet accounts would be blocked swiftly as vandalism-only even if they weren't evading a previous block usually do not need to be listed here.
- Use language carefully
- Do not use language that glorifies vandalism. Do not use relative time phrases such as "lately", "recently" without qualification (use "As of date...").
For help, please ask on the project's talk page or contact one of the helpers. You may also be interested in the filing instructions, but again, please be mindful of DENY. If you need more information on an user listed here, your best bet would be to contact the user that submitted the report, which can be found in the page history.

- ChrisW has for many weeks now been insisting on including links to his own (unrelated) web site in the Big Brother (Australian TV series) article. He's now resorted to the vandalising of user pages of those involved in the dispute, and impersonation of myself to further push his POV. Repeated attempts by several editors to educate this user have fallen on deaf ears and merely sparked further bouts of vandalism. -- Longhair | Talk 09:32, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)

- Update - I suspect this person has now adopted the name Del Boy and is now making, and persisting reverting, some very controversial changes to pages relating to fascist and anti-fascist activities in Britain, e.g. Searchlight magazine, using terms like "Jewish thugs" to describe anti-fascist activists. This is serious. He has also (in his various incarnations )made some vandalous or controversial changes to other pages e.g. potometer and created a patent nonsense page I marked for speedy deletion. PatGallacher 17:28, 2005 Mar 8 (UTC)
- I don't think this user is necessarily a vandal; he just hasn't grasped the concept of NPOV. I've left various notes on his various talk pages suggesting that he tone down the terms he uses (such as his fixation on 'jewish thugs') if he doesn't want his changes to be quickly reverted. - At first I thought this guy was a clueless newbie, but I now suspect he's editing in bad faith. He pretends to be a clueless newbie and an Arabic speaker who isn't too good with English. I think he's trying to see how long he can go before we realise he's here to cause trouble. Some of his edits make it pretty clear that's what he's up to. Articles he has contributed include Hahid Faras, Laughter of Allah, Hala Jahaj Eid Mosque Praying Ground for the Worship of Allha, our father, the beloved, Mosque of Allah, Gailouh Road, Hong Kong, Jalah, Lahjab Lahjab Lahjab, Tahjid! Wadihud Allah?, and for all I know some others that have been speedied. He also replaced the entire contents of an article with the word "ALLAH" (see this diff), made this strange addition, and this, and this. If he was an anon we'd probably have blocked him by now. I think he's demonstrated that he's here to mess things up, but see what you think. — Trilobite (Talk) 13:00, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)

- Closing in on one hundred edits since March 2. Every change I checked looked like vandalism (I don't know enough to be sure in every case). Usually quite subtle (changing the alleged capital of a district, bogus links, introduces new states that countries allegedly border to, etc.). User got a stern warning from Lady Tenar, but keeps going. That's going to be quite a bit of work to clean up. Rl 22:02, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- User created a few pages too, but those pages needed to be either 1) wikified, 2) checked for consistency, or 3) have warning put on it. Most of the attempts are bogus, though.
- I fixed Densbüren and Pailly (those were the new pages); several other people reverted edits by this user; looks like all is fixed for now. Rl 23:32, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)

- Thre's an overwhelming preponderance of valuable edits. Clearly this IP address is shared by one good, hard-working (indian or sri lankan, by the looks of it) wikipedian and one (rather lackadaisical) vandal. - The IP 206.137.1.33 has repeatedly tried to replace the Spencer Gifts article with a copyvio from the "history" page on the company's official site. After I reverted the first attempt, he or she immediately reverted back to the copyvio, claiming the non-copyvio version was "irrelevant" and "inaccurate", as shown by the article's edit history. I reverted again, then the IP went back to the copyvio version, claiming that Spencer's "allowed" reproduction of its official history. After the third revert, User:WikiPic sent me an email where they claimed to work for Spencer's and said they authorized copies of historical and promotional materials. The email came from a Comcast (USA cable Internet) address, not a Spencer's address as you would expect an email from a Spencer's corporate employee to come from. The latest reverts from WikiPic and the IP once again claim the original, non-copyvio article is "inaccurate" and that "Wikipedia is welcome to Call Spencer Gifts Corporate". I seriously doubt the copy from the website is authorized, and if it is it's extremely POV and inappropriate for Wikipedia. /sɪzlæk˺/ 04:21, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)
