Nikita Sembowski (born November 3, 2001), better known online as Niki Nihachu or simply Nihachu, is a German YouTuber and Twitch streamer. She is best known for her gaming content, vlogs, and "Just Chatting" livestreams, as well as her inclusion in the Dream SMP.

Personal life

Nikita Sembowski[4][5][6] was born in Germany[7] on 3 November 2001.[8][9] She often moved around, mostly due to her mother getting new partners.[10]: 0:59 Nihachu has lived in seven countries, including Germany, Spain, Austria, England, Sweden, Switzerland, and the US, and speaks three languages: German, Spanish, and English.[9] She has said that moving a lot has helped her, as she is no longer affected by culture shock.[10]: 4:51

She was kidnapped at six years old by her mother's ex-husband, and remained kidnapped for three years before being rescued by her mother and her mother's new boyfriend.[10]: 1:22–2:35 Nihachu described her childhood as "never [having] much stability",[10]: 1:19 with her mother becoming an alcoholic, leading to Nihachu having a "very hostile" home life.[10]: 4:09 She moved out of her home in Switzerland at 17, moving to Berlin, Germany, where she returned to school.[10]: 8:37 After finishing school, Nihachu decided she wouldn't attend university to study medicine, and would instead become a full-time content creator.[10]: 10:45

She is pansexual.[9] She has eisoptrophobia (a phobia of mirrors) due to a video she was shown as a child.[10]: 29:56 She suffers from sleep paralysis, and wakes up easily.[10]: 5:28–5:50 She has dealt with eating disorders and body dysmorphia.[11] She has described herself as "a very insecure person", and had abandonment issues with friends.[10]: 13:02–13:23 In school she "wanted to be a scene kid", and was bullied for her "broken, and dry, and frizzy" hair.[10]: 13:54 She has dealt with stalkers, and was once followed home by a fan.[10]: 13:54 She has expressed interest in becoming a psychiatrist for content creators.[10]: 19:00[12][9]

Career

Nihachu began streaming at age 17, whilst still living with her mother and her mother's boyfriend in Switzerland. She began streaming after having operations on her legs, rendering her unable to walk for around a year.[10]: 7:31[9]

She began to gain traction online after appearing on an episode of the Rajjchelor (now called Love or Host) on 4 February 2020. The show comprises one streamer, who in this case was Wilbur Soot,[13][14] whom Nihachu was already a fan of, and ten contestants. Before the game begins, the contestants can choose either "love" or "host", with "love" meaning the contestant and the steamer would date, and "host" meaning the streamer would host the contestant's Twitch livestream. The show is done for content, and the "dates" are not genuine, whist the "hosts" are. Nihachu applied as a joke, but got in, and ending up winning the game after being chosen by Wilbur Soot. Her appearance on the show gained her around 14,000 Twitch followers the same night.[10]: 9:02–10:16  Nihachu has since appeared on the show four more times, three times as a contestant,[15][16][17] and once as the streamer.[18]

Nihachu's found further success after being invited by Wilbur Soot and TommyInnit to join the Dream SMP.[19][20] It moved her from 600 to 6000 average viewers per steam.[10]: 11:08–11:42 For a while, she stopped creating content with Wilbur Soot, due to being shipped with him.[10]: 15:21[21] Nihachu is signed under Pokimane's talent management company, RTS.[22]
