:I am presuming the broken sortability is the goaltender's save percentage column? The problem there may be that it is treating ".900" as a word value rather than a number, thus the 0 always shows up first. I've fixed that with a sort template. Otherwise, You shouldn't need hidden values for any of the player stats sections, as they are all numbers. The two greatest problems I had with the Flames draft picks table is that if anything other than a numeral is used, it treats the entire column as an alpha sort, thus putting 9 before 80, etc, and that blank spaces were treated as equivalent to 0, and sorted accordingly. Neither of these issues seems present in your table. If this isn't what you are trying to solve, can you point me more specifically towards what needs fixing? NHL article rule discussion
Please have a look at WT:HOCKEY#Editing "records" articles when a record is broken if you have time. I would like to discuss the inflexibility of the "don't update until the season is over" rule. − Twas Now ( talk • contribs • e-mail ) 20:36, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing my oversight at {{Legendsmember}}. If you have time, please also review Varsity Blues men's ice hockey team, and reassess. Flibirigit (talk) 18:55, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
I just saw the message you left on the MMM project page, and first of all I wanted to say thank-you for the encouragement and second, I wanted to let you know that the El Senor Presidente novel page is up for FAC. If you have the time to look it over and give us some feedback or vote on it we would really appreciate it. We are hoping that the nomination process will not be too drawn out as we don't have too much time for our grades, which will be much improved if we get to FA status! Thanks again for the note, --Mfreud (talk) 05:35, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading Image:Vezina.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:52, 9 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skeezix1000 (talk) 13:52, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your email. We need a source, because the date and origin of the image will dictate whether or not it is in the public domain. If it is a Canadian image, it is most likely public domain in both Canada and the U.S. (because the Wikipedia servers are located in the U.S., an image must be public domain both in its country of origin and in the U.S.). If it is an American image, we cannot determine if the image is public domain as it could easily have been taken in 1923 or afterwards (any time up until some time towards the end of 1925). That's why the source is essential, because the image can't be deemed to be public domain without it. I hope that helps. We don't necessarily need to know the photographer (the creators of older photos are often unknown), but we do need the source. I guess the most important question is: where did you get the image? Skeezix1000 (talk) 19:44, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Normally, we'd want something a bit more certain, but I think you're right in this case that the image is almost certainly a Canadian one. In that case, I'll fix the image description and it should be fine. Thanks for the help. Skeezix1000 (talk) 16:43, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Comprehensive long lists discussion
Hello, I noticed that you took part in the recent FLRC for List of Arsenal F.C. players and thought you might be interested in participating in a new discussion. The FLRC was closed as no consensus and it is clear the the issue of incompleteness in longer FLs is not over, so a discussion page has been started here. Please feel free to comment. -- Scorpion0422 21:21, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Stanley Cup template
Thanks for bringing up this issue. I'm not a member of the Hockey project, and kind of made an assumption that since baseball, american football, and basketball had adopted these navboxes, hockey would be no different. For someone like Richard, I would suggest looking at Babe Ruth as a player with many World Series titles. On the Ruth page the champion navboxes are placed within one collapsible navbox (so all of Richard's 11 navboxes would take up the space of one). That way, if a reader wants to look, if they choose, without cluttering the page. Beyond that, I don't see much that differentiates hockey from other sports on WP. Let me know what you think. Thanks. - Masonpatriot (talk) 00:44, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response. I agree that things like this are a balance. While there is a need to limit the clutter that may come to a page like Henri Richard or Mark Messier, I also think that navboxes like this help build the many articles that are in stub status and bolster the articles of the not-so-notable players. To use an example from baseball, a player like Kevin Cash, who has been an on-and-off backup catcher in MLB for a few years low on the notability scale. His inclusion, however, on the 2007 Boston Red Sox enhances his notability, since he was a member of that group. Anyway, those are some of my thoughts. Please check out Georges Boucher for an example of what I was talking about regarding minimizing multiple navboxes. Thanks. - Masonpatriot (talk) 01:43, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Oliwa.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Oliwa.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 22:25, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Vancouver Canucks task force
Hey! I noticed you spend a bit of your time on Wikipedia editing Vancouver Canucks related articels. I have been thinking about starting a Vancouver Canucks task force under WikiProject Ice Hockey for some time now, and am now going into the stage of gathering interest, seeing if anyone would actually be interested in joining. I've made a temporary page for the task force at User:Nurmsook/Vancouver Canucks task force. Basically, I just need to get enough members before I actually launch the task force. I still have to create some templates and alter a few that already exist once I get enough members, so hopefully you will be interested! If you would like to help out, please add your name to the list at User:Nurmsook/Vancouver Canucks task force#Participants. Thanks! – Nurmsook! (talk) 00:06, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have gone ahead and launched the task force. It can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Vancouver Canucks task force. If you'd like to add a userbox to your userpage, feel free to add {{User WikiProject Ice Hockey/Vancouver Canucks}}. Basically, for the first little while here, I'll be tagging all applicable pages with the task force option on the talk page. From then on, it'll just be general improvement of the Canucks related articles. Feel free to take any route you please with this task force. Hopefully we can make some great improvements to these articles! – Nurmsook! (talk) 22:42, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

- I'm wondering: I see the discussion on the issue, but why block edits until the game is over? While there are pointless edits, a lot of people are reading this article, and I don't see why we can't let them know that right away when viewing the article. Ral315 (talk) 06:11, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- I think thats a thing thats done Wiki-wide. Since the game isn't offically over, it shouldn't be listed, but I'm sure there is a better explanation. Whammies Were Here 06:16, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Trevor Linden
Thank you so much!!! :-) I'm very glad that the FAC closed though; I was getting totally sick of laundry lists. :-p I even forgot to do some things yesterday, it's great you helped me there. :-) Maxim(talk) 21:59, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Getting Linden on the Main Page can be reasonably easily arranged. However, the jersey retirement idea might not work... do you have any other dates in mind? Maxim(talk) 22:23, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Grats on the FA guys... and don't hog all of the main page dates! I wanna get the Flames article up for the season opener in October. ;) Resolute 22:39, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
I recently noticed that you deleted Image:Lindenmclean1994.jpg, citing invalid justification. As the uploader of the image, that leads me to just ask for some clarification. I'm not totally familiar with the whole image policy, finding it way to complex and difficult to follow when there's much more I'd rather be doing, so I hope you can bear with me here. I added the image when preparing Trevor Linden for it's FA nom, which it passed. I'd like to point out that not once during the nomination were any concerns raised about this or any other images, but that's probably not enough of a basis to back this on.
The image was added after I was trying to find more images of Linden, feeling two current ones were not enough. After looking at Dominik Hasek, which uses some non-free images. Specifically, my rational for uploading was Image:VezinaHasek.jpg. As such, I tried to provide the same justification used for that image.
I don't want this to be seen as a user complaining that someone deleted their image, because it's not that. I'm more trying to understand what rational can be given to keep Image:Lindenmclean1994.jpg, as it is the most defining picture in the career of Trevor Linden. Kaiser matias (talk) 17:59, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- To use the image would require a full rationale to be written explaining how the image complies with all the criteria at WP:NFCC. Do you think you could do that? Stifle (talk) 18:15, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi Kaiser, Sorry to add to your image issues, but would you happen to remember where you got this image from? I'm presuming from legendsofhockey.net, but would like confirmation of this. It has been raised as an issue at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/History of the National Hockey League (1917–1942), and I would like to keep this image in the article. Thanks! Resolute 16:34, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi, sorry for troubling you with yet another image, I added Image:Trevor Linden draft photo 1988.JPG to Copyright problems because I don't think it meets the fair use rationale. Free alternatives, of higher quality, exist. If you think the image should remain you could try reduce it's size and remove it from the nucks draft article. Sorry. --Krm500 (talk) 23:43, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again, I was wondering if you were interested in having a another image in the infobox and move the current picture down to the Return to Vancouver section (replacing the image there). I was thinking that a cropped version of this would be a good image for the infobox. --Krm500 (talk) 16:52, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Sd79 small logo.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Sd79 small logo.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Shane O'Brien and the 2008–09 Vancouver Canucks season article
I have to disagree with the removal of the † symbol from Shane O'Brien's name in the 2008–09 Vancouver Canucks season article. The symbol denotes that the player spent time with another team before joining Vancouver and that his stats on this page reflect time with the Canucks only. O'Brien played in one regular season game with Tampa Bay prior to joining Vancouver, as can be seen here. Regardless if you get traded at the beginning of the year or at the trade deadline, it was a regular season game and if he goes on to play in all 82 Canucks games, he will have played 83 regular season games this year. Not having the symbol beside O'Brien just doesn't make any sense to me. If it's not a consistent symbol, then why have it at all? He may not have recorded any points in the game, but at the end of the day, his 1 game worth of stats should be included on the Tampa season article with the * symbol or whatever is being used for played who didn't finish the year with the team, and the † symbol should be beside his name in the Vancouver article. – Nurmsook! talk... 01:53, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
WP:TFAR for Trevor Linden
I totally forgot to nominate Trevor Linden for Today's featured article. Just to clear things up, the date we wanted for this nomination is December 17, 2008. I just made a template (if that's what it's called) for the nomination...
Trevor Linden, OBC (born April 11, 1970, in Medicine Hat, Alberta) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played centre and right wing with four different teams: the Vancouver Canucks (in two stints), New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens, and Washington Capitals. Before joining the NHL in 1988, Linden captained the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League (WHL) to consecutive Memorial Cup championships. In addition to appearing in two NHL All-Star games, Linden was a member of the 1998 Canadian Olympic team and participated in the 1996 World Cup of Hockey.
Throughout his career, Linden has been recognized as a respected leader on and off the ice. He was named captain of the Canucks at the age of 21, making him one of the youngest captains in league history. While captaining the Canucks, Linden led the team to within a game of winning the Stanley Cup in 1994. It was during this time that he began to be called Captain Canuck. In 1998 he was elected President of the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA), a position he held for eight years. As President, he played an instrumental role in the 2004–05 NHL lockout, including taking a direct role in negotiations with league owners. Off the ice, Linden has taken an active role in charities, and was awarded the King Clancy Memorial Trophy for leadership on the ice and humanitarian contributions off the ice in 1997, as well as the NHL Foundation Player Award in 2008. After 19 seasons in the NHL, Linden retired on June 11, 2008, twenty years to the day after he was drafted into the NHL. (more...)

Re: Some information on the WHL
My one good book that covers this time frame (The Memorial Cup) does not mention who the captain was. It has small team photos for each year, and in 1987 shows five players wearing an A, but none wearing a C. 1988 has a player wearing a C, but I can't figure out who it was. Logically, I would expect Chynoweth was the captain rather than Linden, though he probably wore an A. During this time, Linden would have been 17/18 years old, while Chynoweth was 19/20. Typically it is the 19 year olds that serve as captains on junior teams, and I expect that it would have been similar 20 years ago, especially with a team as stacked as those Tigers' teams were. Either way, I would expect I could find out for sure from an old newspaper, and if you like, can add that to my list of things to do next time I visit the library. Cheers, Resolute 07:41, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- And I have the answer for 1988 courtesy of the current issue of Prospects Hockey. Dean Chynoweth was the captain in 1988. His father presented him with the Memorial Cup that season. Hope this helps! Resolute 04:03, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Excellent, sure, I think it could be used. Out of curiosity, what does the book say the lineup of the 1920 bronze medal winning Czech team is? (almost every source I've found is different and uses various combinations of 12 guys) -- Scorpion0422 02:28, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Patrick O'Sullivan
According to [1], it has an original trade of O'Sullivan to the Hurricanes, and then a trade between the Hurricanes and the Oilers. I don't know if this is a three-way trade, but is it safe to exclude the Hurricanes from his list of teams in the infobox (irregardless of whether he played a game for them or not)? I suspect so, but I'm asking you since I see you were the one who added the information. 71.177.247.178 (talk) 21:04, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Nominating NHL Eastern and Western Conference templates for deletion=Jumping to conclusions
The templates were designed to help casual hockey fans a better, more concentrated understanding of the lineage behind the respective conferences. For example, it's highly likely that a lot of people who don't follow the NHL don't instantly understand the significance of the Campbell and Wales Conferences or the divisions that corresponded them.

- I am presuming the broken sortability is the goaltender's save percentage column? Resolute 00:15, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
