Revision as of 19:29, 12 August 2009

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Semi-protection 59.95.101.61 (talk) 19:29, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection - Many random IP edits trying to get promotion for themselves through Wiki. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 19:24, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Full-protect. The move protection doesn't appear to have stopped the edit war on that article. SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 19:12, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection. There is an unnecessary edit conflict happening on this page. I am requesting semi-protection for a temporary amount of time due to anonymous IP addresses constantly introducing false information onto the article. These multiple anonymous addresses could possibly be the same person. Before I tell you what false information he/she/they are displaying, I will say the facts first. Randy Blythe, the vocalist of Lamb of God, did guest vocals for the band Gojira on this album that the article focuses on. Blythe donated guest vocals to one song, and the song was track seven, Adoration for None. However, these anonymous IP addresses are brainwashed into thinking that Randy Blythe guested for track six, All the Tears, instead of what is proven to be the song that he guested for, which is indeed Adoration for None. Blabbermouth can confirm that Adoration for None is the track that Randy Blythe guested on, along with the album's liner notes (which I have plans of sourcing for additional material later on). The person/people behind these anonymous IP addresses most likely does not own the album; if they did, they would certainly know that the guest vocals are on Adoration for None and clearly not All the Tears. Also, I think it is notable to point out that the anonymous addresses have used the word "idiot" twice to prove their point. The first time the term was used, it was plural and more people were active in reverting the false information. The second time was today, when I was the only person reverting it and the IP was directing the message to me. Back to the introduction of flase information, this false information has been introduced repeatedly ever since before the album was released. The album was released on October 14, 2008, which is almost ten months ago. The conflict has since received a resurrection and needs to be stopped immediately, considering the vanity of these edits. There have been invisible messages put up for guidance, and even a source to confirm that Randy Blythe did guest on Adoration for None and not All the Tears, but these have been disregarded by the IPs for some reason. That sums up why I would request temporary semi-protection and possibly looking into the origins of these IP addresses, since, as stated earlier, they could possibly be the same person. Thank you. Temporary semi-protection. During last night's game, he charged the mound and was ejected from the game. Since then, the article has become a haven for ip vandalism. Mgmvegas (talk) 18:43, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection. Most of the positive edits we recieve from IPs are IP vandalism reverts and undoings. We've hardly improved the article in the past week or so, just been reverting vandalism. • S • C • A • R • C • E • 17:12, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Declined I see the problem, but it looks like the locals have it well in hand. Since this is a very-likely point of entry to Wikipedia for the people reading the book, I'm very hesitant to protect it without a major attack to defend against. Maybe the IP reverters will become the editors of the future here. SarekOfVulcan (talk) 17:31, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection. Vandalism, WP:BLP issues by various IP editors. Kevin (talk) 05:28, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This was just here yesterday, went to BLPN twice with no reply (last I saw), and ended up with a frustrated editor on my talk page. Besides the IP that was blocked for BLP style vandalism, the actual level has been low. I started following the page so there was another set of eyes on it. I'll let another admin make the protection call, and I'm fine with it going either way. tedder (talk) 06:21, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. You're talking about this article, right? It's hardly being edited by anyone, let alone vandals. tedder (talk) 00:15, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite full-protection, it has been repeatedly redirected to Lady Gaga and repeatedly restored. It does not ever need to be restored. It was an unofficial album that was released when the artist was non-notable. Furthermore, it is only available on torrent sites; we don't need to promote illegal activity here on Wikipedia. POKERdance talk/contribs 18:57, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fully protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. If it's a reliably sourced album, it's okay to mention torrents (wikipedia doesn't censor). However, until it can be created properly, I full-protected it. I'd appreciate you filling out the talk page to explain the situation. tedder (talk) 04:33, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
