== No citation for witnesses claiming DOC asked them to keep quiet? == |

On the subject of the South Island Kōkako the article currently says: |
|||
"most recently several reports of sighting have and witnesses interviewed claim DOC asked them to keep it quiet.[7][8]" |
|||
However neither of those references actually seem to mention such claims by witnesses. This seems like a statement which really needs a citation to support it. |

Fiordland sighting
I'm not sure if it's worth recording the possible sightings described here, but I thought I might note it here for further reference. Ron Nilsson mentioned on the radio this morning (National Programme just before 8am, Wed 29th March -- see [1] within the next week or so for streaming audio) that he's hoping to go back there on a proper search. - I see no reason not to mention it directly in the article and in fact if I wasn't in such a hurry this morning I'd do it myself. I turned off the radio just before 8 and missed the interview with Ron Nilsson! Dang! Mona-Lynn 20:29, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Neat -- well I would have done it this morning except I'm not enough of an expert to have been confident about whether this was more significant than the lots of other miscellaneous sightings that hte article already mentions, or if it was particularly notable. The media seems to be claiming htat it's notable. Here's the direct link to the audio stream, for the record. (It'll probably be gone after a week.) The format (mp3 or Windows Media Player) will probably default to whatever your current default is set to at the RadioNZ website , so if you've never streamed it before, you might need to visit there first. I am not sure if they should be merged, any good reason? Brian | (Talk) 21:13, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

No citation for witnesses claiming DOC asked them to keep quiet?
