Hi there! Thanks for cleaning up some parts of Eva Haller. There is still an AfD discussion going on right now... it's been going on for over two weeks, but has only been re-listed once. From what I've seen, there's a sufficcient amount of votes to be able to keep it (two keeps and one weak delete). Would you be able to help with making the decision? If you can't make the decision, it would still be awesome if you could contribute in the discussion. Many thanks! United191 (talk) 21:01, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I saw you were mentioned at one of the AfD debates, and decided to ask you a favour. Can you recount the death toll in the above article? I put the body count as for both February 2 and February 11 respectively. Thanks. Another question: When is it appropriate to use templates such as {{Terrorism-stub}} or {{massacre-stub}}?--Mishae (talk) 20:57, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of named passenger trains of India, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Junagarh (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Two measures (one for you and one for a good friend) of potable quasi-barnstar, for your extraordinary devotion to the dreary task of deletion sorting, an underappreciated task that enables processes such as this. -- Hoary (talk) 03:33, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong place listing for AfD visibility

Thank you for adding listings for AfD visibility. In the case of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DranDeh and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mani Petha Brath Nest today, you added it to Iran-related films. These are two Balochistani films. I wonder why you added to Iran when Balochistan is also a region on Pakistan. Maybe this should be added also? Just a heads up. Cheers. -- Alexf(talk) 14:56, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Maybe it will be a good idea as the OP and the director seem to hail from Pakistan. Thx. -- Alexf(talk) 15:23, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed a lack of any discussion as to the enabling legislation for the Robert E. Lee Memorial and added a lengthy quote discussing the same taken from a National Park Service paper. I tried to reference the link, which takes you to the PDF paper, but the link was disallowed. Here it is (in part):

url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CDwQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fparkplanning.nps.gov%2FshowFile.cfm%3FprojectID%3D14952%26MIMEType%3Dapplication%25252Fpdf%26filename%3DRehabilitation%2520of%2520Arlington%2520House%2520%2520EA_public%2520review%2520copy.pdf%26sfid%3D0&ei=vJssU6LXH8TCywHqrIGQBg&usg=AFQjCNFpiTreD53IeirBMyfBZ5ave8Xeaw&sig2=84LVwMYV73UUIuRfvgmbtA&bvm=bv.62922401,d.aWc

It is preceded by http://www.google.com/ and I understand the problem with the google search part but don't know how to link to the PDF any other way. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello, talk-page stalker here.
First stage: cut the junk that precedes the first occurrence of "http", resulting in:
http%3A%2F%2Fparkplanning.nps.gov%2FshowFile.cfm%3FprojectID%3D14952%26MIMEType%3Dapplication%25252Fpdf%26filename%3DRehabilitation%2520of%2520Arlington%2520House%2520%2520EA_public%2520review%2520copy.pdf%26sfid%3D0&ei=vJssU6LXH8TCywHqrIGQBg&usg=AFQjCNFpiTreD53IeirBMyfBZ5ave8Xeaw&sig2=84LVwMYV73UUIuRfvgmbtA&bvm=bv.62922401,d.aWc
Second stage: cut the junk after what looks like the end of a URL, resulting in:

Third stage: consulting Percent-encoding, convert (other than "%20"=space), resulting in

The result still looks garbled to me, but as of a couple of minutes ago, yes this link was working. -- Hoary (talk) 03:56, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Casual Male Retail Group Article

Hello Gene93k,

I was writing about the article Casual Male Retail Group article, as a representative of Destination XL (formerly Casual Male Retail Group); I'm wondering is there anyway you can update the title of the article? We have incorporated as Destination XL Group, Inc. as we have customers who are "googling" Destination XL--the Wiki Article appears with the Casual Male Retail Group name, part of our rebranding is to move away from the Casual Male Retail Group name and this is why I ask if the title of the article can be updated? I can also send an updated logo image if that is helpful?

I also noticed that there was a request for outside sources for the article and I have a few links that may be helpful:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/06/business/media/destination-xl-caters http://www.mrketplace.com/21802/retailer-of-the-year-casual-male-nails-it/ http://www.mrketplace.com/51374/dxl-the-over-sized-man-is-under-served

Sppedy Deletion of Brittany O'Neil

You marked Brittany O'Neil Article as Speedy Deletion. I dont know what made you to do so. The person is a Living American Actress whose article are already exists in other wiki languages. I dont know why are you intresting to delete it. I have added valid references and added wiki data links also. we can add more details to the article to elaborate the content rather than deleting it. I hope you can re consider your decision of deleting the article.--పోటుగాడు (talk) 07:45, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I Can do nothing if you have already made your mind to delete the article. However, One thing i can say is, your act highly disappointed me and discouraged me to write any further articles in wikipedia. An article that is not quite AFD but not sure what to say

List of universities in the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, just has one college it seems in this area so is not quite a list-so maybe it should be merged or redirected? I'm kind of hesitant to put an AFD on it to be honest. Wgolf (talk) 20:09, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin Harrington AfD

I noticed there was some weird behavior going on in the AfD for Kevin Harrington: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Kevin_Harrington_(entrepreneur)

If you look at the edit history, appears that an IP user voted twice, then signed as a different user to avoid detection. Could be other stuff going on there too but that was the most suspicious. Breadblade (talk) 02:28, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

How do you add categories to AFD's

Hi Gene93k, I noticed you added a category to one of the AFDs I was looking at. How did you do that? What is the template for that. Is there a way to stop rude nominations?

PBP's current rash of one by one nominations at best in my view are getting ruder and ruder. His campaign seems to have as its goal to remove every article on a LAtter-day Saint from Wikipedia, at least every one that does not reflect negatively on Latter-day Saints. He also seems to be intent on avoiding any real discussion, nominating for Prod Deletion articles with 4 sources and similar actions. His speed at nominating articles for deletion is getting out of hand in my view. He is using more and more attack phrasing in his nominations, and being more and more antagonistic in his attempts to remove articles. I am really fed up with it. Especially since he tried to redirect out of existence an article I created without any discussion or notification. That was the last straw that I found extremely highly offensive.John Pack Lambert (talk) 00:39, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Malls; organization

Hi Gene. A quick question ... how do we determine that a mall is an organization or corporation, leading to this? It's not that I disagree; just that I've been told at wp that we don't consider a mall to be that (I happen to think you are right). --Epeefleche (talk) 18:44, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've been categorizing malls under "O" as commercial enterprises. If there's a consensus in favor of something else, like "P" for Places and Transportation, I'll go along with it. • Gene93k (talk) 19:16, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think you are correct. But the thread I had in mind -- where I was told that 2 editors believed that malls are not companies/organizations (incorrectly I believe, as you can see is emphasized by my last point in the thread) -- is here. Epeefleche (talk) 20:31, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

UsedEverywhere

Hi there!

I think there is some confusion finding references for UsedEverywhere.com because the sites are broken down locally ... for example in Victoria B.C. , where it's the dominate classified site, it's only ever referred to as UsedVictoria.com.

I found this video of a news segment on the company... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bY4QHGz_iqY&feature=youtu.be&t=54s

Are videos considered okay as references for Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Almagordo (talkcontribs) 18:59, 26 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • A YouTube video can be cited if (and a very big if) the publisher can be verified as a reliable source and the clip is not copyright infringement. The video does not clearly state its origin. Is Island 30 a program on CHEK-DT? If that's true, it helps, but it's not enough by itself. Please note that linking to YouTube is generally discouraged. • Gene93k (talk) 21:02, 26 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gene, I've been putting a bit more work into this UsedEverywhere.com wikipage ... I'd like to get your opinion on the updates!

Hello Gene, My name is Mari and I am fairly new to Wikipedia. I am curious as to why someone would submit a page for deletion without doing due diligence and call someones Wiki page Wikipuffery. It is damaging to a persons credibility and just irresponsible and mean spirited in my opinion especially if the person submitting the page for deletion misquotes information on the Wiki subject. This is in regards to Alex Young (singer). Any feedback would be appreciated thanks in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mc2Mari (talkcontribs) 01:30, 28 June 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]

Delete John Stanton

Hi! It is John Stanton writing.

I note that I am up for deletion from Wiki and that's not my call, of course. Debate and delete if you must. I DO take offense to Plot Spoiler indicating that much of my writing is "fringe." When I write satire like "Interview with God" that can be considered fringe. But the bulk of my work has been cited in a lot of credible places. Efforts (cited too) for the American Behavorial Scientist, National DEFENSE magazine, papers/presentations for the International Studies Association, and cites in a host of military-related publications can hardly be considered "fringe". Just a few of those are listed below the next paragraph.

I believe that Plot Spoiler is an editor with a notable bias who uses Wiki Law to advance his cause. It is no surprise that Spoiler's call for deletion came right after a piece I wrote calling him out and discussing the recent Israel invasion and destruction of much of Gaza, and the political power of the Israeli lobby in the USA. In that piece I supported the edits made to my Wiki entry but I do not applaud censorship or the attempt to label me as "fringe."

I do not have the time or inclination to revisit this matter. But I have taken this time to dispute the "fringe" label as that is a false indictment.

Written just after 911, this piece Terrorists Will Exploit [1] has been cited, according to Google Scholar, 38 times over the years.

One of the more recent cites to the above piece is this: Information content security on the Internet: the control model and its evaluation BX Fang, YC Guo…- SCIENCE CHINA Information Sciences, 2010 - Springer Abstract Flooding of harmful information on the Internet seriously endangers thephysiological and mental health of teenagers. Due to the user-friendliness of the Internet as well as the difficulty in the authentication for the access of specific categories of.

National DEFENSE magazine is hardly a "fringe" publication. My work their under the good offices of Sandra Erwin and Bob Williams led to articles cited by the US military--dozens of them in fact. Here is one: www.carlisle.army.mil/library/bibs/warfar03.htmBaker, Donald L. Terrorism, a New Age of War: Isthe United States Up to the ..... Garstka, John J. "Network-Centric Warfare Offers Warfighting Advantage: ... "Guarding Virtual Borders: In Cyberspace, the Best Defense Is a Good Offense. .....Stanton, John J. "Space-Based Optical Comms Could Fix Bandwidth Problem

My five year coverage of the US Army's Human Terrain System produced over 100 articles from sources I will never name as they have bills to pay and clearances to keep. And in these times, no one dare reveal sources and methods. At any rate those pieces were cited in dozens of publications: The AAA's report on USA HTS, The Tender Soldier by Vanessa Gezari, Wired's Danger Room, The Daily Beast, etc.

My piece on Evolutionary Cognitive Neuroscience was cited in Rebbeca Costa's Watchman's Rattle...You may also find my work cited at Questia and even in the US Army Commanders Filed Guide for female engagement teams here:http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/report/call/call_11-38_v1.pdf and at JSTOR http://www.jstor.org/stable/10.2307/20179957?Search=yes&resultItemClick=true&searchText=human&searchText=terrain&searchText=system&searchText=john&searchText=stanton&searchUri=%2Faction%2FdoBasicSearch%3FQuery%3Dhuman%2Bterrain%2Bsystem%2Bjohn%2Bstanton%26amp%3Bprq%3Dhuman%2Bterrain%2Bsystem%26amp%3Bhp%3D25%26amp%3Bacc%3Don%26amp%3Bwc%3Don%26amp%3Bfc%3Doff%26amp%3Bso%3Drel — Preceding unsigned comment added by JJSX12 (talkcontribs) 15:09, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Jalpaiguri

Hi Gene93k,
If you haven't noticed you were reverted here at Template:Jalpaiguri topics. Same editor has also made 'suspicious' unsourced edits on Jalpaiguri. I AGF, but am beginning to smell socks. Just FYI.--220 of Borg 07:25, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information in support of NOT deleting the Michael and Marisa page

This page has not been updated in years and needs to be. It will updated properly. New information regarding this duo demonstrates that they are a viable pop/adult contemporary duo with enough celebrity to warrant their page. New substantial information: Michael and Marisa have been written up in Billboard Magazine, on CNN.com, Huffington Post, AOL, in Parent's Magazine, J-14 magazine, and many others. Checking on google will confirm. Their anti-bullying music is part of the school curriculum of many schools across the U.S. and they are spokespeople for PACER which is described on the Wikipedia Unity Day page as a renowned anti bullying organization based in Minneapolis endorsed by Ellen Degeneres. Michael and Marisa are releasing their third album of original music written with some of the most renowned producers in music who have volunteered to co-write and produce with them. They have won major songwriting awards from a Nashville based organization (19,000+ international entries and Michael and Marisa honorable mention). Last month they were they opened all across the U.S.on the national tour of the band "Rixton" (see Wikepedia page), who is a platinum artist with a #14 song on pop radio and #1 in the U.K. Next month they are opening for Demi Lovato (X-Factor Judge, Top 40 artist, actress etc. see Wikipedia page). When doing appearances thousands of high school and college kids line up for meet and greets in cities across the U.S. Bottom line is that Michael and Marisa are celebrities that warrant a Wikipedia page, however the page needs to be updated properly with current information that shows that. Childish references like playing with Legos need to be replaced with references to being written up in Billboard Magazine, a respected magazine for the music industry. I will make sure that the page is properly updated. Michael and Marisa have had a wikipedia page since 2009 and have done 300 shows nationwide at viable venues such as the Bamboozle Tour, Six Flags Amusement Park Arenas, Whisky-a-Go-Go, Roxy, Lincoln Center, Webster Hall, NY and 100's of others. They have also done a lot of philanthropic work. In addition to PACER mentioned above, most recently they have been active with A Beautiful Life Foundation which was established to stream music into Children's Hospitals across the country. They have also held fundraising concerts for Toys for Tots and Doug Flutie's Autism charity and last month donated a concert as part of Ecofest held at Times Square in New York City. Sorry for the length of this. Trying to show that Michael and Marisa are substantial enough to warrant their page. Looking for support not to delete the page. Googling Michael and Marisa will confirm. Press is posted on their website Michaelandmarisa.com as well as info. on the producers involved. Thanks!

Deletion Question

I have two questions about a recent deletion...

1. Why was Chase Iron Eyes' entry deleted? I couldn't find any discussion about the reasons - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chase_Iron_Eyes

and

2. I see you are associated with some archived discussions, but when I follow the links, I couldn't find any specific references to Chase Iron Eyes' entry or why it was deleted - can you point me to a link where I will find discussions about his entry, specifically?

Thank you.

Belle Knox AFD #2

The second AFD for Belle Knox has been overturned and relisted. As you commented on the original AFD, you may wish to comment on this one as well. As there have been developments and sources created since the time of the original AFD, please review to see if your comments/!vote are the same or may have changed. Gaijin42 (talk)

Hi pop, User:9825 has blanked the AFD above while discussion is still going on. I have previously warned this user about removing templates like Speedy or AFD. pop (talk) 15:25, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
