... you semiprotected [https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=Jambalaya this page] on August 12, 2014, which seems to be a heck of a long time ago. I might understand if it was a contentious page, but it just deals with an american dish, and the accident originating it seems to happen within a day or two. Looking at it from the outside, a 3/4 days (even a week) long protection would have been more sensible, I think. 09:21:00, 19 June 2017 review of submission by NeenKaler

Hi Bearcat,

Thank you for taking the time to review my first full submission. Apologies for it not being up to scratch - I'm still learning :) I hope you can help with a few queries over why the Userbenchmark submission was declined.

Firstly, you made a comment that many of the sources linked were glancing name references. The ZDnet and Sapphire Nation articles (section 4 of this article is dedicated to UserBenchmark - so not such a small reference) specifically and with reasonable depth, illustrate to me that professional PC users recommend Userbenchmark. I would like to understand better why this doesn't indicate notoriety.

Secondly, I can see that there are many more online software reviews of Userbenchmark, similar to Softpedia e.g. http://userbenchmark.findmysoft.com/. Would you reccommend that I add more of these?

And lastly, personally, I use and love this website and was surprised that there was no Wiki article on the topic yet. I know that a large proportion of the PC Master Race Reddit community also use and write about this site on Reddit. And I'm not alone if the Alexa website rankings are anything to go by: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/userbenchmark.com where Userbenchmark is currently ranked at 4716th globally and 2624th in the US. I was wondering if you recommended any way to incorporate this info into the Wiki article?

Once again, thanks for your time. And I look forward to hearing from you.

The Bighead

Hi Bearcat, While I don't think you created this article, I did see where you made a major contribution,so I wanted to let you know.

Deletion of Matt Flynn

Hi Bearcat! I recently requested and was going to make a page for Matt Flynn but just found out that his page was deleted today. He is currently running for Governor of Wisconsin: http://forwardwithflynn.com/ and polling at #1: http://www.jsonline.com/story/news/investigations/daniel-bice/2017/08/08/bice-judge-david-borowski-weighs-possible-challenge-u-s-rep-gwen-moore/514977001/ . Please advise! Thank you!!!

But two other Wisconsin chairs also have pages even though they haven't been in office as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martha_Laning https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Tate

WikiProject Genealogy - newsletter No.5 -2017

Newsletter Nr 5, 2017-12-30, for WikiProject Genealogy (and Wikimedia genealogy project on Meta)

Participation:

This is the fifth newsletter sent by mass mail to members in Wikipedia:WikiProject Genealogy, to everyone who voted a support for establishing a potential Wikimedia genealogy project on meta, and anyone who during the years showed an interest in genealogy on talk pages and likewise.

A demo wiki is up and running!

Dear members of WikiProject Genealogy, this will be the last newsletter for 2017, but maybe the most important one!

You can already now try out the demo for a genealogy wiki at https://tools.wmflabs.org/genealogy/wiki/Main_Page and try out the functions. You will find parts of the 18th Pharao dynasty and other records submitted by the 7 first users, and it would be great if you would add some records.

And with those great news we want to wish you a creative New Year 2018!

Don't want newsletters? If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the mailing list or alternatively to opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Opted-out of message delivery to your user talk page.

Chad McNamara

Hi Bearcat, If you go thru his Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/chadmcnamara/ you can see that he lives with his partner. And in a post from November 4, 2017, He captioned a photo with "@chadmcnamara: My man making me an end table. That's love. #fall #woodworking #saturday #imwatchingfigureskating" and one user commented "@32whatismylife: @chadmcnamara not trying to be mean? are you gay" and Chad replied "@chadmcnamara: @32whatismylife was it 'my man' or figure skating that gave it away." Clearly he's gay. I do my research. Add the category back if you want, I provided with enough, If you want to go thru his account be my guess. Also in a more recent post from January 2, 2018, He caption a photo with "@chadmcnamara: Happy 2018 from our family to yours. Now get me to a beach." The photo pictures Chad with his partner and their 2 dogs.

Berlin

Hi Bearcat. Hope you're well. Most of the films have been named for the 68th Berlin International Film Festival and I've started to create stubs for most of them. Do you know which ones would come in scope for the List of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender-related films of 2018? Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 10:06, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of Canadian films of 2004, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ben Bass (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

CKOO-FM Move Discussion

Thanks for the "head's up" that pages being the subject of a "move" request should have the "_(defunct)" modifier added to them, and not the "_(old)" one that I used for CKOO-FM_(Old). I noticed that you didn't bother renaming that one, guessing that's just because it's the subject of a deletion request. I didn't realize that stations that never make it on the air don't get a Wikipedia page (perhaps just a mention as part of its radio station owner's page, at best?). Sorry about moving the old CKOO-FM page at first as part of my "move request" for CJUI-FM but I'm pleased to see you've supported my "move request". Sounds like the original CKOO-FM page just slipped through the cracks, eh? --Doug Mehus (talk) 03:41, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming Wiki Edit-a-thon

Hi Bearcat, I'm organizing a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Canadian Writers' Summit in Toronto in June 2018 with some help from Art+Feminism. I was wondering if you might be interested in helping out since you're such an expert user and are into the CanLit scene. For example, I'm now putting together a list of stubs/missing articles for our workshop participants to start with, and would appreciate any suggestions you might have. Please let me know if you would be interested in helping out in any way. Thanks! Kaparica (talk) 20:31, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed your userbox on your user page and....

You actually use linux mint? Cool! i use it too. (sometimes). :) The garmine (talk) 05:39, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

i agree with the sentiment here, but i am curious - what is a "bumf"? Jytdog (talk) 20:56, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply, Bearcat. These are all great suggestions. Kaparica (talk) 17:09, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Odd

This, which you have worked on in the early days, looks strange, don't you think? A lot of it is simply a letter from an official. --2604:2000:E016:A700:E847:240F:9BE:AC5B (talk) 18:58, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

CBC Radio 2 vs. CBC Music

Hi Bearcat, my apologies for jumping the gun on the changes that we need for our CBC pages -

Attached below is our official FAQ regarding the name change.

https://cbchelp.cbc.ca/hc/en-us/articles/360000745054-Radio-2-is-changing-names-What-you-need-to-know-

Would it be possible to change the name of the categories:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:CBC_Radio_2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:CBC_Radio_2_programs to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:CBC_Music https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:CBC_Music_programs

And merge these two pages:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBC_Radio_2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBC_Music

Please let me know, I also have a new logo that needs to be updated on the CBC Music page.

Please let me know if I need to attach a reference to each of the frequency pages, as I will need to make those changes again once the above updates are complete.

Thank you!

Hi Bearcat,

Thank you so much for your help with these pages, everything looks perfect from what I can see - have a nice weekend!

I want a new discussion for Marie K. Newman.

She founded and runs a NATIONAL nonprofit organization and authored a book on the subject of bullying before announcing her run for Congress. Her candidacy has attracted NATIONAL attention, and was even covered by a UK newspaper. On what planet does that constitute non-notability? I'm seeing either a lack of common sense here or political bias. --MopTop (talk) 17:20, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 6th Canadian Screen Awards, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page James Duthie (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

New Jersey political stuff

It looks like there are a number of other New Jersey politician pages which don't qualify under WP:N or WP:POLITICAL and since you've been in these discussions I'm wondering what your thoughts on cleaning them up are, since it's a bit contentious at this point in time. I worked through a category from R to L before stopping (alphabetically backwards, not right-to-left) and would propose the following based on what's been deleted: Eliu Rivera, Elizabeth Randall, Samuel H. Patterson, James S. Parkes, Tomas J. Padilla, Bryant B. Newcomb, Theodore J. Narozanick, John J. Murphy, Edgar O. Murphy, Jose C. Muñoz, Bernadette P. McPherson, Dennis McNerney, William D. McDowell, Joseph Mayer (politician), Maria Barnaby Greenwald, Doris Mahalick, Hank Lyon, Anna C. Little, Brian D. Levine, Harry Larrison Jr., Gerald Lange Jr., Renee Lane

Wondering if you had any advice on whether or not these should be nominated. SportingFlyer talk 05:45, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
