Restore
Hey few days ago you have deleted the page that I've created Rafale Deal Controversy and redirect Rafael scam due to copyright violation. And now these are recreated .So if its possible can you please restore the page that I had created with current version of its content.? It will help me to reduce the number of deleted pages from articles created page .thank you. Akhiljaxxn (talk) 01:34, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- We cannot restore any page deleted as a copyright violation. Ronhjones (Talk) 01:40, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
Non-deterministic sorting
The bot keeps edit-warring with itself, see [1]. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 03:06, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Headbomb: That's because the sort is case insensitive (as requested) so "QSR magazine" and "QSR Magazine" are placed in random order. Did you want both entries? Not sure how to fix that, I'll have a think. Ronhjones (Talk) 15:59, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- Both entries are desired, as the bot we use is case-sensitive. I suggest sorting 'cap first, lower case second' where multiple entries are otherwise equivalent. E.g. Eggplant > ELIFE > ELife > eLife > Emory. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 19:34, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Headbomb: There is now a plain sort and then a lowercase sort one after the other, see how it goes. I do have a backup plan. Ronhjones (Talk) 15:45, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

Thank You & input needed
Thank You for taking the time to add the company logo to the National Aviation Academy page! I have another issue though.. Another editor decided to delete everything I wrote, plus what was there originally. And what they wrote has a typo. I have been trying to find current third party sources to cite and it is taking me longer than planned. But, I don't understand why they deleted everything from the page. Do you? Any input is much appreciated. Updates-for-you 2018 (talk) 15:17, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
- The page history will tell you who edited and their reasons (https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=National_Aviation_Academy&action=history). There will be links to their talk page as well. Do remember if any paragraph does not have a reference to back it up, then it's likely to go. Ronhjones (Talk) 15:52, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- Ordinary pages can no longer be loaded as javascript. You could do this using
?action=raw&ctype=text/javascript
in the URL. Only fully protected pages in the MediaWiki: namespace or user javascript subpages can be loaded as javascript now. This is for better security. [2][3]
Problems
- New and updated translations from translatewiki.net will not reach the wikis for a while. You can still translate messages on translatewiki.net. The Wikimedia wikis will be updated with the new translations later. This is because of work on the translation system. [4][5]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 2 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 3 October. It will be on all wikis from 4 October (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 3 October at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the meeting with the Wikimedia Foundation Search Platform team. The meeting will be on 3 October at 15:00 UTC. See how to join if you want to know how the search function works or have questions.
Future changes
- Because of a data centre test you will be able to read but not edit the wikis for up to an hour on 10 October. This will start at 14:00 (UTC). You might lose edits if you try to save during this time. The time when you can't edit might be shorter than an hour. You can read more about this.

Hello, do you know what pages call this category? Since it contains only WP:HD and the reference desks, I figured it was include-onlyed in their headers, but I'm not finding it there.
Context — it seems to me that it should be "help" rather than "Help", and "Wikpedia" definitely ought to become "Wikipedia", so I was going to change the links and move the category, but I don't know where the fix needs to happen. Nyttend (talk) 22:19, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- Never mind; I discovered that it was on the pages directly, so I've updated them. Category is now at Category:Wikipedia help pages with dated sections; could you tell RonBot to use the new name? Thanks. Nyttend (talk) 22:24, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – October 2018
News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2018).
- Justlettersandnumbers • L235
- Bgwhite • HorsePunchKid • J Greb • KillerChihuahua • Rami R • Winhunter
Interface administrator changes
- Cyberpower678 • Deryck Chan • Oshwah • Pharos • Ragesoss • Ritchie333
- Guerillero • NativeForeigner • Snowolf • Xeno
- Following a request for comment, the process for appointing interface administrators has been established. Currently only existing admins can request these rights, while a new RfC has begun on whether it should be available to non-admins.
- There is an open request for comment on Meta regarding the creation a new user group for global edit filter management.
- Partial blocks should be available for testing in October on the Test Wikipedia and the Beta-Cluster. This new feature allows admins to block users from editing specific pages and in the near-future, namespaces and uploading files. You can expect more updates and an invitation to help with testing once it is available.
- The Foundations' Anti-Harassment Tools team is currently looking for input on how to measure the effectiveness of blocks. This is in particular related to how they will measure the success of the aforementioned partial blocks.
- Because of a data centre test, you will be able to read but not edit the Wikimedia projects for up to an hour on 10 October. This will start at 14:00 (UTC). You might lose edits if you try to save during this time.
- The Arbitration Committee has, by motion, amended the procedure on functionary inactivity.
- The community consultation for 2018 CheckUser and Oversight appointments has concluded. Appointments will be made by October 11.
- Following a request for comment, the size of the Arbitration Committee will be decreased to 13 arbitrators, starting in 2019. Additionally, the minimum support percentage required to be appointed to a two-year term on ArbCom has been increased to 60%. ArbCom candidates who receive between 50% and 60% support will be appointed to one-year terms instead.
- Nominations for the 2018 Arbitration Committee Electoral Commission are being accepted until 12 October. These are the editors who help run the ArbCom election smoothly. If you are interested in volunteering for this role, please consider nominating yourself.
