== Visa requirements for Saudi citizens map change ==

Hi! South Africa recently announced Saudi citizens will be able to enter South Africa without a visa for 90 days starting August 15th. Whenever you're able to, can you please adjust that map and that of the "Visa policy of South Africa" page, too?

Thanks. --[[User:Nay1989|Nay1989]] ([[User talk:Nay1989|talk]]) 22:49, 2 August 2019 (UTC)

This is my first attempt to talk to someone, so really not sure if this is the right thing to do, does not seem right anyway! i saw you deleted my Indian fish names page a long time back, is there a way I can get the content back or is it lost forever?

thanks Dennis — Preceding unsigned comment added by Denzy (talkcontribs) 09:51, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Would you be able to contribute to this page? I can't find some from countries you have visited. Thank you! --Monocletophat123 (talk) 23:46, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Passportguy,

I remember the Maldivian Passport page had a list of countries that Maldivian passort countries could travel to visa free. Do you know what happened to this list, or where I might find this information. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Please email me at ismail_s_a@yahoo.com Many thanks in advance. Iran

Hi. That would be perfect. Don't worry about the Persian within the province templates at the moment. Eventually they will be translated and the villages can be added later. There are also stub templates by province, e,g {{Ardabil-geo-stub}}. Unfortunately the county details don't seem avaiable yet. ON the tageo site if you scroll down the pages you'll see they do list the coordinates in decimals at the bottom on the left. Hope this helps. Covering Iran will be very useful, particularly as articles are springing up on Persian wikipedia, population can be added at a later date. Eventually, with the help of Persian speakers I hope we will develop all of the articles but they need to be started first!! Arabic also will have to be added later. There are always people aadding the transliterations such is our scope so we'll have to leave it to them. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:11, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Probably best if you include an external link under reference just to prevent anybody complaining abut unsourced new articles though, I'll continue with Kazakhstan then. Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:41, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Will do. Passportguy (talk) 14:45, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See Arsun, if you visit the tageo page look at the bottom left of every page it lists the digits. personally I prefer DMS rather than decimal but whatever you're happy with. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:41, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The decimal ones are easier to add, so I chose them instead. However at the moment Tegeo is down, so I can't add any further stubs for the moment. I'll check back later to see if the site is back up. Passportguy (talk) 17:11, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can you use {{subst:PAGENAME}}in the title spaces instead of pagename. It will produce less of a strain on the server. It will save time too! Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:30, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm already ahead of you :-), and have used {{subst:PAGENAME}} for the last 50 or so pages. Passportguy (talk) 16:40, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well I'm doing Kazkahstan at the moment and everything seems OK there. The reason why I picked tageo is that it lists settlements by province for each country and is convenient to get a list from. If you look at Maplandia for instance you'll see that Ardabil province isn't even listed. Don't worry, the other day I found some town names which werne't listed in Iran on the databases using a transliteration on persian. If you google any of the names you'll see the places are verifiable so don't worry about that for now. I've requested that the persian is translated in the templates anyway so if we are missing any major towns or settlements later she should be added. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:01, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't missing, check out this Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:05, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah wikimapia would be the best but unfortunately it doesn't list them. Try this. Coordinates are usually correct. You'll have to be careful though as they often list the same town under a differen spelling. I would still stick to the Tageo list but use coordinates from here. Don't trust the population figures though!! Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:35, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tageo IS correct there are just two towns with the same name see here. I would stick with Tageo as the coordinates are computer generated as on other sites so it is as good as any, and more convenient. If I was you I'd use other sites every now and again just to check it is running smoothly. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:38, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, with most countries they do seem to list the towns. When you start on other provinces I'd use maplandia, I only picked Tageo because you can just copy what appeared to be all the settlements within that province into the templates and start them. The trick will be to upload them and quickly compare with either Maplandia at here or Falling rain to see that they are all there. If you use these three sites and wikimapia where possible you should find that they'll support what you are doing. Occasionally there are settlements which will baffle you especially if the names have changed etc but the task will definately be worthwhile eventually as we and in the Internet develop. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:48, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good work. Yes Herowabad and the other ar ethe same, I would move whatever page to ensure they are both consistent with the new naming. You will find the odd tricky one like this but you seem cleaver enough, you should be able to overcome it. DOn't know about the outside location. There are of course many enclaves in countries like this but if you check other sites go with your instinct is all I can say. Bushehr Province next? Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:14, 2 July 2009 (UTC) Great. One thing though. That list is WAY too big for a nav box. I'll move them to List of cities, towns and villages in West Azarbaijan Province and just link them that way. There are way too many to go in a nav box! The bot didn't run for several reasons yet was approved. Somebody I hope somebody will run one. 67,000 odd is a lot of articles but do whatever you feel capable of. Dr. Blofeld White cat 22:01, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think its a good idea to create a gazeteer like List of cities, towns and villages in Ardabil Province. It saves bloating the templates and seems a sensible step to make. It also means we can connect all the settlements by province. IN the future maybe county info will become available for now this is the best thing to do. I'll create a nav box to link these lists of settlements together and link them in the main List of cities in Iran page. When you think how much is missing our coverage of amajor country like this is very poor. Dr. Blofeld White cat 22:33, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

World city database. It seems to have info on what county they are in by numbers. I guess you just work out which number applies to which by locaiton on the map. So Gavdul by the looks of it belongs to Khalakal County. Dr. Blofeld White cat 23:01, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Correct longitude parameter

The longitude parameter in the infobox in the recently-created Aski Shahr article has been corrected. The correct parameter name is "longd"; "long" (no d) was in the infobox. You might want to check any other articles you have created. Happy editing. Thanks. Truthanado (talk) 23:27, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I don't quite know why it was missing in that particular stub. The others seem to be ok. Of course typos can never be completely ruled out. Passportguy (talk) 23:30, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Iran stub errors

Hi, all the Iran articles you have created recently have the error of using {{pagename}} instead of the name itself in the first sentence. Can you fix these? You should use {{subst:pagename}} if you are generating these articles automatically. Calliopejen1 (talk) 17:14, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'll fix change it to subst:pagename them if you like. Although either seems to lead to the same result on the page. 18:23, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. At least for now they look the same but if the page gets moved it could lead to weird stuff in the article, and also it is confusing for inexperienced editors when they open up the page and see {{pagename}} Keep up the good work with the stub-building! Calliopejen1 (talk) 21:32, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've been looking through more of your Iran stubs and honestly I'm kind of concerned about them. How do you know that Tageo is reliable? I'm clicking through on the coordinates on lots of them and ending up in the middle of nowhere in google maps. Calliopejen1 (talk) 03:13, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, though I'm a big fan of geography coverage generally, I think some of these villages are really pushing it in terms of notability and probably should be combined into lists. Yuznab, for instance, appears to be about the size of two city blocks, and is within a few miles of quite a few other towns. could we combine these into the lowest or next lowest administrative division? I seriously doubt there's any significant coverage of these tiny tiny tiny villages, even if we had access to Iranian print sources. Calliopejen1 (talk) 03:23, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tageo was recommended to by User:Dr. Blofeld. The few ones I did double check did usually roughly correspond with other coordinates given by other sites. The seconds are almost always off, but most sites cannot agree on them for any given town in any case.
As for notability : I would say that as long as something is a recognizable geographical entity, it is per default notable. There are some exceptions, and if you have any specific ones I would be glad to discuss them. Fyi : I based my Cyprus stubs (where I had more local knowledge and a better map) on a list from Tageo provided to by by Dr. Blofeld and in the end only 1-2 % of the places on that list were created by me as redirects or not at all, which seems to indicate that the quality of their lists in terms of notablity is pretty good.
I guess what I am saying is that while there inevitably will be some places on the Tageo list that are not sufficently notable because they are just village quarters or farms, generally speaking most of these places are notable.
As for Yuznab : It looks like a perfectly fine village to me. You need to remember that not all countries village are centered around a church like in central Europe, in many countries a substantial proportion of the population of a "village" lives in outlying farms and the like. Passportguy (talk) 14:45, 3 July 2009 (UTC) Can you use |pushpin_label_position =right for West Azarbaijan anyway. Look inside the infobox. See where is says pushpin map position. Instead of it reading "bottom" change it to right, otherwise the caption appears outside the box because it is so far west. Cheers Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:18, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think much of the area/population is in outlying farm areas. Zoom around in google maps - every tiny cluster of houses has its own names, and they're all really close to each other. Calliopejen1 (talk) 13:53, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Try 37°33'19"N 45°4'51"E? Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:33, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Even if that were true - if Iran is settled in such a way then that is the way it is. And if their system is organized into small villages then that is the only way to list them. I don't see any other way to group them by default. On occassion tiny hamlets could be added to other articles, but really only if they have some administrative connection to ther other town/village. Passportguy (talk) 14:39, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would use Maplandia. I didn't recommend Tageo, rather I said it was the best site to obtain lists of settlements. The data mostly seems correct in relation to other sites, maybe you'd better just create lists of settlements by province instead until solid sources can be found. A list of settlements within each province would be useful for now and when more info becomes available they can be started? Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:40, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just an idea. If you feel too deterred by Iran you could always work through the missing Czech villages. We have district templates drawn up for all of the districts at Category:Czech Republic district templates and most of the villages are missing. Good thing is they all have articles on Czech wikipedia so not only will you be able to add coordinates but it has data too on population, area and often an official site so they can easily be expanded by anybody. Whatever you are happy with but maybe it is better to work with the places that have population data first. . Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:03, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See

E.g see this Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:09, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll look into that later. At the moment I think I'll need a couple of days as a break or I'll start dreaming of geo coordinates :-) Passportguy (talk) 21:10, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah it can get pretty stressful its finding a balance with starting them and adding something to them initially to indicate notability. That's why I've mostly been working through countries where data is available like Nepal and Mali etc. Have a mini wiki break to clear your head and then return. I still think generating lists of settlements fro Iran or whatever would be a good thing. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:13, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've done Bílkovice as an example anyway, they are municipalities and main villages. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:31, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey don't stay away too long look at all the missing articles in Tábor District etc. I need your help transferring them from Czech wiki! Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:50, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

About Turkey State

Hi. Why you change again Turkey Location? Because Turkey country of Europa! Not country of Asia or Middle East! Please can you change for Europa? I can give you example! Turkish football teams playing in Euro Cups! You know this. Istanbul isbigger city and it is in Europa! not Asia.Do you understand me? I hope understand. Totenkopf division (talk) 20:31, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This has been discussed multiple times before. As to not get into endless edit wars, Wikipedia uses the UN definition of geographical grouping. That puts Turkey firmly in Asia, as most of its territory, the country's capital and the majority of the population live in the Asian part.
These lists are sorted by geographical location not political affiliation. E.g Israel also plays in the European football championship, yet is also not grouped under Europe. Passportguy (talk) 21:20, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

EU Visa Waiver Agreements With Six Countries

The EU has signed Visa Free Waiver Agreements with six countries. The six countries are as follows:

The Bahamas, Seychelles, St Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados and Mauritius.

If we can take out the "1" designate that says "Visa issued upon arrival" for Seychelles and we should also colour Seychelles in the dark blue colour to signify that there is Visa Free Access to Seychelles for up to 3 months without a Visa when traveling on an Ordinary, Diplomatic or Service/Official Passport.

Here is the source: [1]

I will remove the "1" designate that are on the necessary EU Passports. But can you colour them into dark blue for me?Pryde 01 (talk) 10:23, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Leaving wikipedia

Sorry to hear that, your edits were most certainly welcome. I've always seen wikipedia as a way to learn about the world and improve our articles and coverage of places i'm never likely to visit. As a geographer that is appealing and overcomes the negative aspects of the site. I've learned to deal with them, I hope you do too as your editing is greatly needed on articles on municipalities all over the world. Just look at all the stubs. We need people like yourself developing articles and not worrying about edit wars. I hope you will reconsider. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:35, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please allow me to add my two cents' worth here as well. I certainly understand your frustration (believe me, it's one that I've shared on more occasions than I care to recall), but I do hope you'll reconsider. You do excellent, valuable work, and if you leave we shall have lost a fine editor, and someone who has done much to rectify some of the project's natural systemic bias. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 15:41, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I almost left about two months ago because of the "negative"aspects of this site too. You are not the only one who feels that way at times trust me. That is when the people who really care about the project can be rooted out by ignoring the crap and doing what makes them happy on here. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:44, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Bundelkhand akikrit party, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Visa-free sections

What do you think of visa-free sections in passport articles? The world maps and the long tables of nations. I personally oppose them; they cross the boundary between an encyclopaedia and legal advice, between the usually meticulously sourced Wikipedia and the haphazardly strewn-together Wikitravel, but as someone who is quite visible within this milieu on Wikipedia I'd be curious to know where you stand and why. Sorry if this is out of the blue, I've been thinking about proposing they be removed across the board, but I thought I'd feel around first and ask. —what a crazy random happenstance 16:06, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 23:29, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Ratzinger Cyprus Tassos Papadopoulos.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Ratzinger Cyprus Tassos Papadopoulos.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 16:51, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 11:28, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Visa requirements for Saudi citizens map change

Hi! South Africa recently announced Saudi citizens will be able to enter South Africa without a visa for 90 days starting August 15th. Whenever you're able to, can you please adjust that map and that of the "Visa policy of South Africa" page, too?

Thanks. --Nay1989 (talk) 22:49, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
