03:38:03, 21 September 2019 review of submission by Bewithstartup
Bewithstartup (talk) 03:38, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Bewithstartup: - you don't actually state what your question is. For the moment I've assumed it's a query about why the draft was rejected.
- The draft was rejected correctly - the sources given are either not independent/reliable or, in the case of a discography, don't cover the subject in enough detail.
- Musicians have specific criteria they need to satisfy to show their notability (any criterion is sufficient). They can be seen at musician notability. I don't believe Mr AJ currently meets these, though he may in the future. As such, tweaking the content wouldn't fix that issue. Nosebagbear (talk) 12:18, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

Subrata Sarker (ENGR) (talk) 10:49, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Subrata Sarker (ENGR): - none of the sources in the article are suitable for proving notability. Either they aren't independent or they don't cover the subject (presumably yourself) in anywhere near enough detail. Nosebagbear (talk) 12:16, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

- Hi Gettechy. It was rejected because the subject is not notable (not suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia). No amount of editing can fix that problem. Wikipedia is not for advertising, promotion, or public relations. --Worldbruce (talk) 22:45, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi, and thank you for taking your time in addressing my concern. How do I submit an article after making the recommended changes? On my article there's a STOP sign. I'm not finding a submit button like once before. Thank you. Sophisticatedcheese (talk) 01:54, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hello Sophisticatedcheese, that would be because the article was rejected as not being suitable vs just declined previously. Rejection is meant to be final, to convey that the topic is not notable (not suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia). No amount of editing can fix that problem, only reliable, independent, sources can. Please ensure that you have read WP:YFA, WP:BIO, WP:RS, and WP:COI. Please do be careful and ensure that submitted drafts satisfy the criteria first, but you are certainly welcome to ask questions here. There is no option to re-submit the draft because volunteers do not intend to review it again. You may wish to explore alternative outlets, with different inclusion criteria, for your writing. --TheSandDoctor Talk 15:56, 27 September 2019 (UTC)

Ketki R (talk) 12:29, 24 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Ketki R. Being reliable is a necessary requirement for sources, but is not sufficient for demonstrating notability. Sources must also be independent (not the company's website, or annual report, or press releases), and must contain significant coverage. Reports of capital raising activities ("raises Rs 154 crore", "leads funding round", "to raise up to ₹150 crore", etc.) are explicitly excluded as trivial coverage. Most businesses are not notable. You may find WP:BFAQ#COMPANY informative. --Worldbruce (talk) 13:12, 24 September 2019 (UTC)

Hello, the press coverage received are of notable references. Could you guide us on what are the benchmarks for notability?
27.60.163.180 (talk) 06:52, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
- @27.60.163.180: - hi there, for a company to be notable it needs to meet these criteria. The first source is just a very basic summary that doesn't cover the company in depth. The second source is about Grover, not the company, and is mainly quotes from various individuals so it's not neutral/independent. Almost all of your final source is quotes or indirect quotes by Wadhwani, with relatively little told about the company by a neutral party. You need multiple in-depth sources that are from reliable secondary sources and independent (which rules out most interviews). Nosebagbear (talk) 10:07, 25 September 2019 (UTC)

This is quite confusing, as the following references are multiple, and apparently meet the defined criteria for significant coverage in independent, reliable and secondary sources. Please see below:
1. Coverage in BloombergQuint.com, a prominent financial news portal formed as partnership between Bloomberg and Quintillion media (reference: https://www.bloomberg.com/company/press/bloomberg-forms-new-partnership-with-quintillion-media-in-india/). Hello:
I don't understand why my article was rejected. All of the content comes from the company's website, which is listed as an external link. Please tell me what I should be doing in order to get this article finally published! I am an agency representing this company (Jewish Museum of Basel).
Thanks!
Mari Wiki SB (talk) 12:41, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Mari Wiki SB: First, post the mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Mari Wiki SB. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form:
{{paid|user=Mari Wiki SB|employer=agency name|client=Jewish Museum of Basel}}
. --Worldbruce (talk) 13:59, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Mari Wiki SB: Thank you for placing the disclosure. You are supposed to replace the "agency name" bit in the template with the name of the agency you are working for, e.g. "Fitz & Co.", or whatever.
- You've added citations to some independent sources, so you may resubmit the draft (there is now a big blue "Resubmit" button within the large pink box at the top of Draft:Jewish Musem of Switzerland). --Worldbruce (talk) 14:37, 27 September 2019 (UTC)

Originally I started work on record labels of New Jersey focusing first on Command Records and Mint 400 Records with plans for working on other labels. My draft was denied, this was my response:
I'm requesting assistance because I am joining Wikipedia to focus on record labels in Northern New Jersey because I lived there in the 1990's. Most of the labels I wanted to focus on have already in depth Wikipedia pages some of which I am still compiling information to add to. Two labels I wanted to focus on that had very little about them was the 60's label Command Records which I have added to and the record label Mint 400 Records which is currently one of the biggest record labels in North New Jersey. It was stated they don't have enough substantial resources about them or not reputable resources? I don't quite know how to substantiate that the label has been a staple of Northern NJ for over a decade with over 250 releases and about 100 bands signed. They seemed to have been written about by every major music writer in Northern NJ, so I'm not sure what Wikipedia needs in order to approve the page.
Other labels I would like to write about in this area include: Little Dickman Records, Rhyme & Reason Records, Pyrrhic Victory Recordings, Dromedary Records and Killing Horse Records. I'm not quite sure how to substantiate their existences either to write about them. They all exist and they are very well respected and well known in the North East USA. Is this something that just is not going to be able to be on Wikipedia?
This was then the response: References are either to unreliable sources, or only mention the subject in passing. Lacking the in-depth coverage required by corporation guidelines.
However, it seems that a bunch of notable New Jersey press members like Bob Makin, Jim Testa, Gary Wein, and others who had accredited press and their own pages were all removed from Wikipedia. It's as if someone purposely is deleting much of the people, writers, bands, musicians, and information which was on Wikipedia to use it as ammo to basically erase a subsection of that states music community. Also mentioned was that the label was only mentioned in passing, which I investigated and saw that most if not all labels were represented in the press this way, there tends not to be articles written on the label but the content they provide and it's effect. If that is that case then that is fine, but I noticed for other states that their music community is represented if it was notable in the same way. Can I get a definitive answer on if the topics are too small?

Rohith Chakravarti Vemula
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Rohith+Chakravarti+Vemula&atb=v186-2&ia=web the topic is misdirected with no Biopage but an incident page only.
the draft was rejected: saying its not notable but it has lot of Importance in India and also on web. a google search would validate it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Rohith_Chakravarti_Vemula Hi there is a wikipage which is not fair to a persons life 1. By labeling to a incident in his life 2. not even having a photo 3. not covering other aspects of his life.We created one page which is like his biography page with a dignified name but it was declined by a reviewer without considering the content. the redirection with the name is unfair the new page need to be vlalid, How can i request another reviewer with information.
Fair eg 1: Name"JIAH KHAN" WikiPAge:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiah_Khan
Fair eg2: Name:Robin Williams" Wikipage: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Williams
unfair eg.1 Name: "Rohith Vemula": notdignified Wikipage: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_of_Rohith_Vemula
Unfair eg.2 Name: (Payal Tadvi) : Undignified page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_of_Payal_Tadvi
Have created a more biographical page compared to an event(Suicide) page Right page:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Rohith_Vemula
this page needs to be critically reviewed not as a biography page :https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_of_Rohith_Vemula and the redirect needs to be updated. kindly help us to reach to a clearthinking and unbiased reviewing.

@Rasa guru: Examples 1 & 2 you mentioned were know not only for their suicidal deaths they were well established actors and had independent and reliable coverage for their body of work. On the other hand examples 3 & 4 are only know for their manner of death and I know it sounds a bit insensitive. FitIndia Talk Mail 11:23, 26 September 2019 (UTC) Yes, It sounds insensitive and also is further proof of the Insensitivity of Indian Society towards Human Dignity. To mark & label a human by their manner of death rather than see & recognize the humanity in the person. Well we can surely learn from the Global solidarity in showing compassion and empathize with the persons Holistically. The Resoning of rejection equating "well established" with fame in media, the two examples were well established as humans in their respective communities and the recognition they deserve as Humans First. by going with your logic maybe we should rename "Bhagat singh's Bio page" as "Hanging of Bhagath singh" or "Nathuram Godse" as the "Assassin Godse".. and many more pages need to be edited going by the Rejection logic given (Person to be known by the incident he is famous for later rather than a Bio page for the person)
I Searched on the format "Suicide of X" & "x" found multiple right instances of Wikipaging. Good examples are available of BETTER LOGICAL REVIEWING where they have separate pages as it should be ethically also.. 1.IncidentPage : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_of_Kurt_Cobain 2.BioPAge: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Cobain
Another point of Highlighting the suicide and not focusing on the personality may lead to Copycat Suicides & Contagion there are research on it. U may refer the Docs below also i See u unfit to review this as an Indian, plz pass it on to a neutral unbiased Reviewer who knows the sensitiveness of Suicide and caste issues. https://www.openaccessgovernment.org/the-werther-effect/42915/
I request sensitive Reviewing, if ability to empathize is less in Indian reviewers, As a Global Netizen I am requesting not to reject but pass on to unbiased neutral Non-Indian Reviewers as a third party arbitrator out of the biased Indian systems, for the sake of Wikipedias ethical freedom of expression. This Page is rightful in its asserting compliance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Article 12, 10 & 8 https://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/ and a reviewer needs to be aware and in aggreement/Sensitive to the UN Directives for being fit to review the Bio Pages of Suicide & Caste Discrimination Victims the world over, is there a EmpathicIndia or a HumaneWorld Reviewer plz pass the review to them??

I am writing a biography about a person I call a renaissance man. So far, in his 63 year old life, he has been an radio astronomer, computer designer, software engineer[wrote WORKWRITER in the 80's], journalist and my partner in Newsbytes News Network, created a TV computer news weekly newscast [The Technology Channel in 1990], author[wrote the book GJ139], a flight tracking website creator[DXFlights], one of the best known travel websites on Greece[ellada.com], a nuclear inspector and now he produces independent movies in Hollywood[first movie was "The Dark Hand" and now "Infernum"].
It was rejected in March 2019 and then again in September by ClarityFriend with the comment: Far from Satisfing (!!).
My questions are: - Can I upload and use photos of magazine covers from the pre-internet era as proof? - Can I include mentions of pre-internet events relating to his life? - Many photos of his early life (thousands were taken on Mykonos, Greece) are on Facebook group archives by other people. Can these be included? I believe these photo archives are public. - Recently the first review from a critic called his latest film, Infernum (to be released December 10 in North America), "INFERNUM manages to evoke the immediacy of the best "found footage" films, with all the breathless suspense and creeping terror but without the awkward contrivances." Can this info be used in the biography? Thank you for providing guidance to be able to submit this biography. Wendy
Wendygorski (talk) 10:01, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Wendygorski. Your misquotation of Clarityfiend's review suggests you may have misunderstood it. Their complete comment was: "Far from satisfying WP:BIO". Wikipedians use shorthand links like WP:BIO to link to policies and guidelines without having to repeat pages and pages of text. Also, the reviewer's comment should be read in the context of the formal reason the draft was declined, which is in the gray box within the larger pink box at the top of the draft. There are over forty links there to explanatory information, which can be daunting. Reviewers often use comments to emphasize a particular point, in this case that the draft's references fail to demonstrate that the topic is notable (suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia).
- How far are the draft's references from satisfying the requirements? Novice Wikipedians are commonly advised to cite at least three sources that are independent, reliable, secondary sources that contain significant coverage of their topic.
- Not independent: articles.adsabs.harvard.edu, Monthly Notes of the Astronomical Society of South Africa, Barnes & Noble, and cambridge.org
- Not reliable: revolvy.com, sigidwiki.com, imdb.com, and hkfilmnews.blogspot.com
- Not significant coverage: naic.edu, setileague.org, cpc-power.com, w3.org, aei.pitt.edu, arrl.org, ellada.com, and nawiliwiliyachtclub.org
- Many are also primary sources instead of secondary ones. In sum, the draft sites zero suitable sources. You would need to throw all of them away.
- You may not upload copies of magazine covers or Facebook photos taken by other people, they are copyrighted. Photos would be primary sources, so they would not help demonstrate notability. You may cite magazine articles, even if offline. But to demonstrate notability they would need to contain a substantial depth of information about Vekinis, not be written by Vekinis, and be in a publication with a reputation for accuracy and fact checking. The film review quote says nothing about Vekinis, so it doesn't help.
- Creating a new article is one of the most difficult, time consuming, and frustrating tasks a new contributor can attempt. We try hard at AfC to be upbeat and encouraging, but the kindest thing in this case may be to tell you up front that the topic doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of being published here. Pick a different topic (one with which you have no connection) or consider an alternative outlet with different inclusion criteria. --Worldbruce (talk) 14:08, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
