Batgirl is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. It is intended to be an installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).

In March 2017, Joss Whedon was hired to write, direct and produce a film centered around Barbara Gordon / Batgirl.[1] Whedon was to begin production on the film in 2018,[2] but stepped down in February.[3] In April, after impressing Warner Bros. with her work on Birds of Prey, Christina Hodson was hired as screenwriter for Batgirl.[4] Warner Bros. is looking for a female director to replace Whedon.[5]. In June 2020, Micheal Keaton was in talks to reprise his role as Batman from the Tim Burton films, which included a appearance in Batgirl.
