Working on multiple articles

I just submitted my first article for review. When I go to my sandbox now, there is a redirect message, and it doesn't appear that I can start and work on a new article. So the general question is, is there a way to work on multiple articles that are in multiple stages of development, review, and acceptance? I ask because I have a second article I am ready to start.
