AFD is for deletion, an administrator hitting the delete button that non-administrators do not have. It is in the name. ☺ Redirects are enacted with the editing tool that even editors without accounts have. Ironically, a redirect takes one third of the edits that an AFD nomination does.     - Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However Wikipedia policy says "Suitable venues for seeking a consensus if a redirection is challenged include the article's talk page and Wikipedia:Articles for Deletion."
