Draft:Speaking community to trans atlantic african slaves traded ratio

Dear Qcne, I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide me with some feedback on why my article did not meet the acceptance criteria. I would be grateful for any guidance you can offer to help me improve it. Thank you for your time and dedication. 194.38.172.194 (talk) 09:17, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi IP editor. Your draft wasn't really an encyclopaedic article: just a list of slave populations and then a ratio calculation. This isn't what Wikipedia is for, but if you can find reliable research on this topic you might be able to add to existing articles. Qcne (talk) 11:22, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Qcne 194.38.172.194 (talk) 12:24, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My submission (Jim Rumph)

Hi there. You were helping me back in August, and then I think you went on vacation. Are you still able to help me? It was for my submission for Jim Rumph.

Thanks. Tallstop99 (talk) 14:54, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Tallstop99, sure thing- what further help would you like? Qcne (talk) 14:59, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I answered your questions here User talk:Qcne/Archives/2024/August in the "Review my submission please" and was wondering if you needed anything else from me. Tallstop99 (talk) 16:46, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, sorry, I did indeed miss that notification. I think those sources would just about put us over the edge for notability. However- the draft will need a re-write before acceptance. If you let me know once you've re-written I can take another look. Qcne (talk) 19:10, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your feedback. I'll get it rewritten per your suggestion. Tallstop99 (talk) 13:08, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have rewritten the draft. Please let me know what you think. Draft:Jim Rumph Tallstop99 (talk) 20:44, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Much better, @Tallstop99. Some more feedback:
- Please remove the Legacy section, as it is unencyclopedic.
- Please either find sources for the Personal Life and Early Life, reuse your existing citations if they are relevant, or remove the information if no sources can be found.
Let me know how you get on. Qcne (talk) 20:46, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I have made your suggested changes. Please review. Tallstop99 (talk) 14:44, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's passed now, so have accepted for you @Tallstop99. Please add some WP:CATEGORIES to the new article. :) Qcne (talk) 20:06, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! That's awesome, thanks!!
I will add some categories.
One more question. I want to add a picture of him too, but originally got told it looked like it was copyrighted or something (it wasn't), so I skipped that part. What's the best way to get a picture added? Tallstop99 (talk) 20:20, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Tallstop99 Images are a difficult one on Wikipedia- by default we assume every image is copyrighted and cannot be used unless it comes with a very specific license. If you can find one that is definitely compatible with Wikipedia you can upload it to Wikimedia Commons, a separate website but part of the Wikimedia Foundation, and add to the article; instructions here: WP:IMAGES Qcne (talk) 21:18, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great. Thanks for all of your help! Tallstop99 (talk) 21:34, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 04:03:46, 15 October 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by KumudRanjanm

I wish to publish the article and I am unable to understand what kind of reference exactly needed. I have inserted the weblink of the university, about this project, which hosts the research project. I have provided the weblink of principle investigators of the project regarding their identity.

KumudRanjanm (talk) 04:03, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @KumudRanjanm, I am afraid we need independent' sources, i.e. sources that are not in any way affiliated with the University or the project. This could be in the form of newspaper/magazine articles that discuss the project?
If those independent sources do not exist then I am afraid an article is not yet merited. Perhaps when the research project has finished and the results have been reported on in independent publications might an article be possible.
Let me know if you have any questions. Qcne (talk) 12:47, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

Request for Feedback on Rejected Submission for Saint Dikeji MiyeriJesu

Hello Qcne,

I recently submitted an article on Saint Dikeji MiyeriJesu, which was rejected on the basis of insufficient notability. I respect your decision, but I would greatly appreciate your feedback on how I could improve the article to meet Wikipedia's notability and sourcing guidelines. The article includes verifiable information about Saint Dikeji MiyeriJesu’s contributions to the Christian faith in Nigeria, particularly through God's Grace Ministry Inc. (G.G.M.), which has had a significant impact. I have cited a number of references, but I am unsure if there were specific issues with the sources, the formatting, or the overall content.

Could you kindly advise me on how to improve the article so it aligns with Wikipedia’s standards? If there are additional sources or content areas that need strengthening, I would appreciate your suggestions. Thank you for your time and guidance.

Best regards,

Toplearnerbook (talk) 23:36, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for feedback on submission: Benedikt Sobotka

Hi there, thanks for the quick review of my submission for Benedikt Sobotka (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Benedikt_Sobotka). The sources of information I have used for this article are reputable references such as Bloomberg, Reuters and FT, so if I try to rewrite the tone of the article to be more neutral - would this still be a relevant article to submit? Is he notable enough? Thanks for your help in understanding this process. Domkotze (talk) 09:00, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Domkotze
The first Bloomberg source 404s for me, and the other two are interviews, though there is a tiny bit of analysis in the interviews I wouldn't call them great sources as they're not independent.
The two Reuters sources just parrot what he says, so aren't independent.
The two FT sources are okay.
However the article really does need a total re-write to be utterly neutral. Paraphrase the reliable sources in your own words but make no assertations and check out words to avoid.
It would also be really helpful if you filled in the bare URLs in the references. Check out the referencing tutorial at WP:INTREFVE. Qcne (talk) 09:37, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for the feedback @Qcne, I'll have another go at rewriting it and use relevant sources. 165.73.118.91 (talk) 11:51, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, let me know if you want me to have another look before you submit it for review. Qcne (talk) 11:54, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rejected Submission - Lionel (artist)

@Qcne Thanks for the feedback, it was unexpectedly prompt and very helpful (this is my first submission)

I have converted the external links to inline citations and cleaned up the writing style. Please let me know if there are any other aspects of the article you think would improve it. TheUrbanArtivist (talk) 16:27, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @TheUrbanArtivist, small point but I only declined your article (so you can improve and re-submit; rejected would be the end of the road).
In any case- I'm happy with the draft now, so have accepted.
Ref #16 doesn't seem to exist in the body of the text, which is why there's an error at the bottom. Could you fix?
Please also add some WP:CATEGORIES. You can also add a link to the Disambiguation page at Lionel. Qcne (talk) 16:33, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Article

Hi! @Qcne! I Was Wondering Why You Declined My First Real Article And Really I Don't Know Much About Him CharlieSimpson27112014 (talk) 05:00, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning @CharlieSimpson27112014, I am afraid that a key content policy of Wikipedia is Wikipedia:Verifiability. If there are no reliable sources there can be no article. Qcne (talk) 08:47, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Theroadislong ugh, submitted it as myself instead of the user in the live chat by accident. Can you add that to Sandeephbk2024's talk page? Qcne (talk) 10:15, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about that I've added it to their talk page as requested. Theroadislong (talk) 10:44, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My fault! Qcne (talk) 10:45, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you remove my discussion on the help desk…?

Why do you think i'm a troll when my question is genuine? What was i doing in this question that was "trolling"? 221.148.159.100 (talk) 16:25, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That didn't look like your question – it was posted by 1.53.4.193, not by 221.148.159.100. --CiaPan (talk) 16:33, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Well yeah, if i'm mad about being blocked unfairly then it would make sense that i would be a person and express my anger the way I WANT TO express it and threaten to kill the admin who blocked me

Literally what do you expect
