Please approve my Sandbox, I'll improve it's content as per time. The entity is really famous in Punjab that is noted by websites I have cited in the article.

You have not demonstrated notability via our WP:NMUSIC criteria, so the decline still stands. Qcne (talk) 14:21, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
@Qcne No problem. I can understand this. I'll try to match the criteria next time.
Thank you for your attention on this topic. LampVimmW (talk) 14:57, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Lington cyclecar (rejection)

Perhaps I could give a word of explanation. Whoever compiled the list of United Kingdom cyclecars put every single name in double square brackets, implying a link to a WP article. However, when I clicked on Lington (since I am somewhat interested in the make) I was led to material that has nothing to do with cyclecars. I thought it would be helpful if the name Lington in the UK cyclecar list did actually lead to a relevant article, even if very brief in the manner of Baker & Dale, Bell (cyclecar) or Broadway. I do intend to enlarge the article, but not simply by cut-and-paste from other publications. RoachPeter (talk) 14:25, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi @RoachPeter. Thanks for the info- I would recommend then working on the draft and submit it again when you feel it is ready. Feel free to ping me here when you think it's ready and I will have another look! Qcne (talk) 18:06, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
Hi @Qcne I have done some more work on the Lington cyclecar and would be glad of your opinion on whether this has made it more acceptable. The reference to my home town of Shrewsbury, by the way, reveals why I find this particular make to be of interest! RoachPeter (talk) 12:08, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
Hi @RoachPeter, thanks for working on it. You've an issue with the Advertising section, as it seems to be original research? It sounds a bit backwards but Wikipedia prohibits original research: articles should only summarise/paraphrase what existing published sources state about a topic.
However I still do not believe the draft meets our notability guidelines I'm afraid to say. Sometimes a company or topic simply didn't make enough impact in reliable published secondary sources to meet our notability guidelines - this isn't uncommon as there have been millions of short lived companies through history!
The existing articles Baker & Dale, Bell, etc are difficult because if those articles came through the articles for creation process they probably would not be accepted in their current form for the reasons above. Wikipedia guidelines on notability have tightened up over the years, and as a reviewer I am supposed to only look at a draft on it's own merits and not compare to any existing articles.
Honestly though I am a little torn on this, as Lington is a redlink on the Cyclecar article and we do like to fill out redlinks when we come across them. I'd be happy for another reviewer to have a second opinion on this, but only once you've removed the original research mentioned above. If there is any local press about the advertising in Shrewsbury that discusses the history of the painted advert then that could help support the section.
Hope that helps, Qcne (talk) 13:42, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
@QcneThanks for quick reply. I will remove the material relating to the old advert. Apart from that, I can't make the Lington any more important than the description I have given, so I will have to leave it in your hands. I do think it would be regrettable to leave the link to Lington going nowhere, as at present, but that's not something I can intervene in. RoachPeter (talk) 16:19, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
@QcneI have now re-submitted the Lington cyclecar article, minus the stuff abiut the Shrewsbury advert. I hope I have gone about this in the right way RoachPeter (talk) 19:26, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
You have, yep. Though for me source #4 doesn't seem to work, it just links to a "No photo available" page? Qcne (talk) 19:43, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
@Qcne Thanks - that's odd! I have substituted a corrected ref that works (at the time of writing). RoachPeter (talk) 21:54, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

I've had a fresh look at the draft but it still doesn't seem to describe a noteworthy piece of automobile history. As the Motor Sport article tells us, after an "auspicious start" the Lington "did not survive".--AntientNestor (talk) 16:11, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

Deplorable Instinct

Hey is there absolutely any way on gods green earth we could get the Deplorable Instinct article approved? It is a pretty legit book and it's difficult to prove but it does have quite an underground following and a lot of interest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aragove (talkcontribs) 20:34, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Aragove.
By any chance are the author of this book? You used the plural "we"..
In any case, no, sorry: books must pass the WP:NBOOK criteria and none of your sources prove that the book passes that. We'd need to see significant mainstream coverage of the book, such as reviews or discussions, in independent and reliable newspapers, websites, journals etc.
Fandom, Twitter, Amazon are not independent/reliable sources. Qcne (talk) 20:43, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
No I'm not, but I wanted to give it an article. Aragove (talk) 22:33, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Draft:Mayukhjit Chakraborty (musician)

Hi Qcne, just wanted to appeal to you regarding my submission of the draft Mayukhjit Chakraborty. The reason you had rejected it is due to its notability, however, in "WP:MN" criterion no. 9 it states " Has won first, second, or third place in a major music competition. ". The musician has won an international competition (the Galway Flute Festival) which was adjudicated and judged by the notable figure of Sir James Galway (he even has a wiki page himself) and the musician won first place. Also according to WP:MN it states a further reason of notability could be if the musician performed on a tv show, which the musician has. could you please reconsider your decision??

thanks Mayukhjitc (talk) 15:57, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Mayukhjitc, the draft has been deleted now due to it being unambiguous advertising. You can re-create the draft (or visit WP:REFUND to recover it from being deleted) but please ensure that:
- it is written in a completely dry, factual, neutral way.
- it has reliable, independent, secondary sources (not interviews, press releases, or from the subject's own website).
- each fact/assertation/statement has an in-line citation (see the tutorial at WP:INTREFVE).
If you can re-create the draft following those guidelines, but don't submit it for review and instead WP:PING me here I will have a look and let you know if it is suitable or not. Qcne (talk) 16:15, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
ok thanks, i will do that! cheers Mayukhjitc (talk) 16:17, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
yes its done here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mayukhjit_Chakraborty
please review it
i have made it as factual as possible, and cited sources, and no promotional marketing
thanks in advance Mayukhjitc (talk) 16:29, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
Sorry @Mayukhjitc, that isn't quite right.
We need full sources (URLs, names of websites, etc) so we can verify the information. i.e. for Reference #7, you've just got "London Olympics". What about the London Olympics? We need full details.
Fundamentally though there is still no evidence you meet our notability criteria- yet. You may do some day! Qcne (talk) 16:32, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

Draft: Mekai Curtis

Hi Qcne, thank you for considering my submission. I've added two more citations (Bleu Magazine and Essence). I've also added some cross-references. If it's still not enough, can you please tell me what I can do to get this submission over the line? As an age-old Wikipedia user, contributor and sponsor, I think there's no doubt that Wikipedia needs an article about any actor who plays the title character in a major multi-season Netflix drama, so it must be getting rejected on technicalities. Please let me know what I need to do to rectify this. Hcaandersen (talk) 00:51, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Hcaandersen. I agree that an actor who plays the title character in a major multi-season Netflix drama is "notable" by the normal definition, but we use a special definition on Wikipedia about notability. To prove notability here, we need to see significant coverage in multiple independent reliable secondary sources. I'm going to go through your sources one by one:
  1. people: is a very brief interview with Mekai, so can't be used to establish notability.
  2. primalinformation: not a reliable source as it's just a Wordpress blog someone random has made to collect details on celebrities. If you can find where they got their sources from that would be useful.
  3. hollywoodreporter: this is an okay source, but I think it is mostly regurgitating a press release from APA about his signing.
  4. variety: this source works.
  5. bleumag: another interview, so can't be used to establish notability.
  6. essence: another interview, so can't be used to establish notability.
  7. imdb: cannot be used to establish notability (see WP:IMDB).
I know this process seems really frustrating and unintuitive! We have strict guidelines on entertainers since the process is abused daily by promotors spamming "up and coming" entertainers to Wikipedia which is obviously contrary to our purpose.
I actually think you're nearly there with this article. One or two more sources which are very specifically not interviews or press releases would nudge it over the line into acceptance territory. If you can find some, let me know, and I'll have another look. Hope that helps, Qcne (talk) 09:21, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

How to edit my new entry on curator Oindrilla Maity Surai so that it can be accepted? Please help.

Here is the link to the entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Draft:Oindrilla_Maity_Surai&action=edit

~~~~ Basuproma (talk) 11:18, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi @Basuproma.
You need to find reliable, independent, secondary sources that cover Oindrilla in detail, and then summarise them in your own words. That should make up the content of your draft. Note that the sources must be:
- Reliable: Your draft should rely on strong, reliable sources that are published by reputable institutions. Primary sources can be used for basic facts (such as a date of birth), but they should be supplemented with strong secondary sources that offer analysis or interpretation.
- Independent: Your sources should be independent of the subject, for example not self-published or from the subject's own website.
- Show significant coverage: Your subject should be discussed in detail in the sources you find. The sources should provide in-depth information or analysis about the subject, going beyond basic facts or promotional material.
- From multiple places: You should find at least three separate reliable, independent, secondary sources that discuss your subject.
- Not original research: Wikipedia articles should summarise existing knowledge about a subject, not present new research. This means you should avoid drawing your own conclusions or analyses from the sources. Stick to summarising what the sources say in a neutral tone.
Remember that your article should be written from a Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.
If you cannot find multiple, reliable, and independent sources then I am afraid that Oindrilla would not meet the notability threshold at this time and therefore cannot have a Wikipedia article. Remember that Wikipedia is not a place for any type of self-promotion or advertisement. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia: not an advertising platform, directory, or a way to promote a subject.
Finally, please note that if you are connected in any way to Oindrilla then you must declare your Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Qcne (talk) 11:27, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
Dear Qcne, I have probably understood the problem. I shall rework on my draft before I get back to you for your suggestions. Thanks so much!~~~~ Basuproma (talk) 12:09, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
Declined Wiki Page
Hello, I submitted a page for my CEO and it was declined. What needs to change to get approval? More sources? He and his major development project have been the subject of dozens of major media articles. Is that not enough to get a page? Treywren (talk) 17:27, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi @Treywren.
You must immediately make a paid editing and conflict of interest disclosure by following the instructions at WP:PAID and WP:COI. Failure to do so is a breach of Wikimedia Terms and Conditions and may result in your account being blocked.
I'd also highly recommend reading the following essay: When your boss tells you to edit Wikipedia (and perhaps showing your boss too?).
I'm sorry your boss has asked you to write an article about him, it has put you in a difficult situation. Many people think that Wikipedia is just a business directory. Wikipedia is not a vehicle to promote people or businesses: instead we are an online encyclopaedia with articles about notable topics. You didn't prove your boss meets our notability criteria for people.
Dear Qcne, thank your time and consideration in reviewing my draft on Draft:David Kordansky Gallery. I had a deep look at it and agree with your critique. I wrote a version with four sources, but sources that convey simple factual information and ones that moreso convey signs of notability are both needed. I believe the sources here are of a high caliber. Could you have a look at my most recent update? OR would you prefer I take it to a help desk/the Tea Room first? BR, Raining rane : )
It wasn’t a mistake
Yeah, I will get around to fixing the rest of the mess that I created. What happened is that I endorsed a PROD but left a PROD template on the creators talk page. I went to remove the message and I was trying to use the mass rollback tool to provide an edit summary for it. I was t trying to hit the rollback selected button but I hit rollback all and didn’t realize it before it was too late. Then I tried to rollback the rollbacks, that didn’t work, but I had the 500 entry contribs page up. The collateral was quite spectacular. I undid declines on around 25 drafts I think, that is why there were suddenly and 25 draft submissions in one second a few hours ago. As well as the collateral included around 15 cfd closes. I have to manually revert all the mistakes. Thanks for fixing one, Seawolf35 T--C 13:46, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
Qcne, I Need Your Assistance About Draft:Hou Xiaonan
Hello Qcne!
I have tried many times uploading article Draft: Hou Xiaonan, but failed. Although I changed a lot of references, the feedback I received was 'reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject'. Could you please give me an example to point out which reference has a problem?
Thanks a lot!!! JustinYuAu (talk) 03:20, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
H @JustinYuAu. I'll go through your sources one by one:
  1. a database entry.
  2. a database entry.
  3. an interview, so cannot be used to establish notability.
  4. this is an okay source.
To prove notability we usually need three sources that are independent, reliable, and show significant coverage. Only one (the fourth) matches those criteria on your draft. Qcne (talk) 17:30, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
INTREFVE
Thank you for pointing out WP:INTREFVE in your responses at the AfC Help Desk. Previously I pointed new editors to WP:ERB which at least showed VE as an option as I did not know those VE guides existed and WP:REFBEGIN only provides guidance about using Source Editor which I think is cruel to new editors. I don't know about you, but I only use Source Editor if I have to. S0091 (talk) 20:57, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
Mm, I agree on the Source Editor. I know that the VE isn't perfect but as a (relatively new) editor it is far easier. I feel the full VE user guide is quite a bit more user friendly than most of our policy and guideline pages. Qcne (talk) 21:06, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
"Mark Prihodko" draft review
Hello. This Draft:Mark Prihodko was declined on 13 December by you and noted: «We need in-line citations for every statement». I accidentally came along and decided to fix things. While not every statement is backed up yet, I'd like you to review the updated version before upcoming publish attempt. Thanks. Tacit Murky (talk) 01:00, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi @Tacit Murky, that's certainly better. A few more things:
- we need an inline citation for his date of birth.
- you can re-use ref #3 for "He made his debut at the age of 9 at the Musica Mundi festival in Belgium and Chat el Ro concert series in France" in the lead paragraph.
- education is still fully unsourced.
- I would remove the word "renowned" as it breaks WP:NPOV. Qcne (talk) 09:01, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
Fixed everything. Please review. Tacit Murky (talk) 06:19, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
Re Draft:Eleonora Svanberg
Hi, I'm a bit confused by what I would need to add to show notability for the person in question. Could you please guide me?
Many thanks
CygnusB (talk) 15:05, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi @CygnusB.
Topics on Wikipedia must pass our notability criteria.
The easiest way to fix your draft is to find reliable, independent, secondary sources that cover Eleonora in detail, and then summarise them in your own words. That should make up the content of your article draft. Note that the sources must be:
- Reliable: Your article should rely on strong, reliable sources that are published by reputable institutions. Primary sources can be used for basic facts (such as a date of birth), but they should be supplemented with strong secondary sources that offer analysis or interpretation.
- Independent: Your sources should be independent of the subject, for example not self-published or from the subject's own website.
- From multiple places: You should find at least three separate reliable, independent, secondary sources that discuss your subject.
- Not original research: Wikipedia articles should summarise existing knowledge about a subject, not present new research. This means you should avoid drawing your own conclusions or analyses from the sources. Stick to summarising what the sources say in a neutral tone.
Remember that your article should be written from a Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.
If you cannot find multiple, reliable, and independent sources then I am afraid that she would not meet the notability threshold at this time and therefore cannot have a Wikipedia article. Remember that Wikipedia is not a place for any type of self-promotion or advertisement. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia: not an advertising platform, directory, or a way to promote a subject.
Finally, please note that if you are connected in any way to Eleonora then you must declare your Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Qcne (talk) 16:07, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) @CygnusB: In addition to what Qcne said, do note that each language Wiki has its own set of rules and policies. Just because another language wiki has an article on a subject doesn't mean that the subject merits an article on the English language wiki. Also, it appears you are the subject. There is a strong discouragement to writing about yourself. I have added info on your talk page regarding this. - UtherSRG (talk) 17:11, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
University at Albany Student Association article flagged for “Lead too long”
Happy New Year! I was notified earlier that the article has a lead section that is too long, and as I read the template and guidelines for that type of warning, I noticed that the general rule of thumb is four paragraphs, and the lead section of the article consists of three and I'm not sure how to cut it down more, but I need your assistance with it please. Calebsappy (talk) 23:12, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
Hey @Calebsappy. Lead length is pretty subjective, I would personally say the lead length is fine on the article. If you wanted to cut it down, I'd recommend moving the "The UAlbany Student Association comprises four branches..." paragraph to under the Operations section, as it probably fits better there anyway. Hope that helps. Qcne (talk) 08:59, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
Hey. I shortened the lead. Do I just wait for an additional review or the disclaimer will go away on its own? Thanks. Calebsappy (talk) 02:58, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
Benefits of Skeuomorphism
Hello Qcne. About your revert on arrows template, i think skeuomorphist designs will make the buttons easier to notice&understand for new users. Of course you may be surprised by seeing these buttons are changed, but i think you will get used to it as you use it. As written in that source, these designs will make the interface easier to use. Of course these designs may have some disadvantages as written in there, but these are not valid in that status. (Outdated: that's not outdated because new devices are tend to use membrane buttons. Complex: these are not very complex because alphas of shadows and bevels are about only a quarter. Performance: this design cannot decrase performance because the filesize of image is only 4kb and there's only one shadow.) New users will be able to understand these buttons quicker with my design because of increased contrast and the reasons these included at references. Of course i can just put they in my css&js pages, i just think my design will be easier for new users. RuzDD (talk) 01:20, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi @RuzDD. Your arrows looked horrendous, totally out of placement with the rest of the visual style of the website. It's not even good skeumorphism, which I can quite like on some UI. I do not believe that graphic design from circa 2006 is going to make this website any easier to use.
If you really want them, please use your own css or start a discussion on the talk page to gain consensus. Qcne (talk) 18:38, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks. So, i'm going to only move buttons to a bit left (some part of right button is not clickable), and after maybe adding a parameter option to the template to allow users to select design. (Note: That's not from 2006 or 2007, i made them yesterday using Adobe Flash CS6 for design and Paint.net for PNG export.) RuzDD (talk) 20:23, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
