Target of this redirect

The British Indian Empire redirects to the British Raj; the Indian Empire almost exclusively refers to the Mauryan Empire in India. So this is how it should be kept. 123.239.31.207 (talk) 06:54, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User talk:DemolitionMan Please STOP imposing your POV pushing, and the constant reverts. Discussion must be before your edit wars to reach concensus, with the 3 IP address 123.239.31.207, 124.124.0.1 and 121.243.204.78. --Rockybiggs (talk) 10:29, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The majority of links to this page are using this redirect as it has been for a long time to point to British Raj. If this is not acceptable then put in an WP:RfC and get it changed by consensus, and make sure that all the redirects are fixed. It may be that the best result for this page is as a dab page. But that is something that a RfC can sort out. -- PBS (talk) 16:44, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"POV pushing" I agree Indian Empire is most commonly used to refer to the Mauryan Empire, it is secondly used to refer to the Chola Empire as well, but Maurya Empire would be most appropriate. 2603:6081:700:2E:C8C7:E8B5:F91D:AF7F (talk) 16:13, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Too many

There are too many here, only Pan-Indian empires should be listed

Others should be restricted to Kingdom of India JingJongPascal (talk) 08:41, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have fixed it JingJongPascal (talk) 10:14, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article Reconstruction

I have reconstructed the article similar to the Chinese Empire and moved the disambiguation list to Indian Empire (disambiguation). JingJongPascal (talk) 10:08, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@PadFoot2008, Chinese Empire, I had based my edits on the article of Chinese Empire, which is the historical usage of the word, similar to this I used it in this article. JingJongPascal (talk) 14:34, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A few things — "the Chinese Empire", with an emphasis on "the", referred to multiple polities historically commonly called the "Chinese Empire" or "China". In the Indian context, none of the empires (except the British Indian Empire) currently listed were actually called the Indian Empire, rather they were Indian empires (i.e., empires which were Indian). Only the British Indian Empire was formally called the "Indian Empire" or "India" which is why this article redirected to British Raj until a recent RfD decided to convert it to a disambiguation page. PadFoot (talk) 14:45, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Terms like Empire of Hindustan would in a long stretch translate to Empire of India, and others terms like Jambudvipa , Al-Hind.
Mauryan dynasty is also known as First Indian Empire (generally) (descriptive sense).
The Mauryans were called "Indian Emperor" or "King of the Indians" in diplomatic exchanges.
Harsha's kingdom was referred as Middle India during diplomatic exchanges with Tang China. JingJongPascal (talk) 14:51, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Indian Empire was a common name of the british raj not formal (offical). JingJongPascal (talk) 14:53, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
