Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of wars involving India, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kingdom of India. History of overseas territories of India

[edit]

Hi there! I'm aware you've made an article titled History of overseas territories of India. It doesn't seem very complete, and I went in and made one or two grammar and format fixes. I was wondering if you had completed the article, or if you were still working on it. If it's the second, I'd suggest going to your sandbox (User:JingJongPascal/sandbox) and writing it there, before submitting it for review.

I am in no way attempting to bring you down: you've made 200 edits in about a month, which is frankly pretty impressive! Keep up the good work! -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 19:43, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article History of overseas territories of India has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article is extremely sparse, information is already covered in much more detail on their respective pages.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 17:56, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate ref names

[edit]

In this edit you inadvertantly defined two ref names that had already been defined. I have no knowledge of the subject matter, so I pass it back to you. Maidenhair (talk) 12:48, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Both are basically in the same page of the book so I reused the same refrence JingJongPascal (talk) 15:40, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was referring to the ref names you defined that resulted in the large, red "Cite error:" messages in the reference list. The two defined ref names are <ref name=":0"> and <ref name=":1">. In each pair of identically named, although different, references, one of the pair needs to be renamed. The corresponding references that reuse the defined reference, that has had its name changed, will also need their names changed, but it is will be difficult for anyone else to determine which correspond to the defined reference that has had it name changed, and which do not.

List of wars involving Gujarat

[edit]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. A page you created or have recently made significant changes to, List of wars involving Gujarat, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for pages, so it has been blanked and redirected to Kingdom of Gujarat. Three typical reasons for this are that: (1) the article's subject appears to fail our notability guidelines; (2) the article is unsourced; or (3) the sources used in the article are unreliable. The page's history is preserved and it is possible to restore the article: If you believe that this page should remain included on Wikipedia or that this action was taken in error, then you may revert the edit that blanked and redirected the page.

Wikipedia:Your first article has more information about creating articles, and you may also want to read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. Thank you.

The content is not verifiable as the citations are all broken and seem to have been copied from somewhere; the names of wars may be original research. What source is being cited? Please provide a short quote from that source containing the phrase "Fourth Gujarat-Rajput War". —Alalch E. 01:04, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

the List of wars involving India, only contains major powers.
This list of wars involving Gujarat is about wars involving kingdoms based in Gujarat not just Kingdom of Gujarat.
Now for "Fourth Gujarat-Rajput War"
Basically, there is no name conventions for these wars anywhere.
Basically the have fought multiple wars, I have broken them into different phases as these wars are like hundred years of time.
It took me multiple days to make this page,I had to look at each emperor separetly to see whether they had fought a war.
Each emperor has fought a war with rajputs,so it is like "First" "Second"
I have also linked that name to the page. JingJongPascal (talk) 06:34, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, please provide the text fragment from the source which you used, in which text fragment the thing you refer to as "Fourth Gujarat-Rajput War" is described. Do it here on this talk page. —Alalch E. 11:04, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You don't understand, Rajputs and Gujarat have fought multiple wars
Now if I named all these wars as same "Rajput-Gujarat War" it will be very confusing for the reader to see 8 wars of same name
That's why I put numbering on them like "First" "Second" JingJongPascal (talk) 12:26, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there is no source saying "First Gujarat -Rajput war" but that's the only way I can or anyone categorise these. JingJongPascal (talk) 12:28, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are incorrect to state that I do not understand. Please provide the text fragment in which the thing is described, that thing being what you named "Fourth Gujarat-Rajput War", even if the source you used does not contain that name. —Alalch E. 13:22, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
R. B. Singh (1964). History of the Chāhamānas p.125
About the conflict between Kingdom of Gujarat and Rajput dynasty Chahamanas. JingJongPascal (talk) 13:58, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please provide a text fragment, a quote from the book, that describes specifically the thing which you named "Fourth Gujarat-Rajput War". —Alalch E. 14:06, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
there is nothing like that in book JingJongPascal (talk) 14:07, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I meant the name isn't there.
But as Archive.org is down right now I can't provide where it mentions the conflict, but you can visit the link attached to the "Fourth Gujarat-Rajput War" and see how they (whoever edited) have described the event JingJongPascal (talk) 14:16, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Copying between articles

[edit]

Hi JingJongPascal. When you copy content between articles you need to make a note of it in your edit summaries, so that editors know where it came from. Also if the content contains short form refs, for instance {{sfn}} or {{harvnb}} templates, then you also need to copy the associated cites they link with. Not copying the cites causes a 'no target error', which you may not be able to see as they are off by default. You can turn them on by following the instructions here Category:Harv and Sfn template errors, just ask if you have any questions. -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested «@» °∆t° 11:57, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Information icon Hello, I'm Vif12vf. I noticed that you recently removed content from Haryanka dynasty without adequately explaining why. Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Indian Empire (disambiguation). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. New message to JingJongPascal

[edit]

I do not like being constantly confrontative, so I hope you take this in good faith, because I don't want you to feel unwelcome. However, it is now a consistent pattern where it is very clear that specific edits either lack consensus or have consensus explicitly against them—but you then decide that you are in the right to go ahead and make them anyway. It does not matter how right you are, moving unilaterally against consensus like this is never acceptable, and I am trying to warn you that it will likely result in a block sooner rather than later if it continues. I don't like the idea of the project losing motivated editors, but you're not giving the community many options if you do feel entitled to ignore consensus when it gets in your way.
