History of Aston Villa F.C.

I have reverted the edits you made to History of Aston Villa (1967-Present) as these were highly POV edits and placed huge bias on the present day events which goes against guidelines.

Per Wikipedia guidelines multiple accounts are not allowed if you are trying to avoid scrutiny on your original account. Your recent edits are very similar to User:AlexWilkes whose contributions can be seen here Special:Contributions/AlexWilkes. The edits on this account ceased on the day your account was created. If you are the same account it would be courteous to let people know on the User:AlexWilkes page about the name change. If you are not AlexWilkes then i can only apologise and you are fully justified in leaving a scathing note on my talk page. IF you are AlexWilkes then please leave a note on that account user page. If you do not do either then i will have no option but to report this account as a suspected Sock Puppet. Thankyou Woodym555 21:48, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

School stubs

Hi, please could you add the appropriate school stub tag to the school articles that you are creating. The list of stub templates can be found at Wp:stub_templates#Education. The one that you need is {{UK-school-stub}}. Thankyou for your contributions. Woodym555 12:42, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately I have had to revert your addition of Section 5. The (edit) heading on both the article and on each country quite clearly states that a firm should only be added with a verifiable source. And an article on wikipedia is not a verifiable source. Especially so as the Section 5 article also has no sources at all on it. If a source can be found (and very often it is BBC online articles or local newspaper online articles) then by all means add it again, and it would also help adding that source to the Section 5 article. Thanks. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 15:33, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

West Bromwich College

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article West Bromwich College, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. DGG (talk) 23:10, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Crime Articles

I see that you have made sweeping changes to the AManda dowler article and the Danielle Jones articles. WHile all edits made are taken in good faith, please be aware that making such sweeping changes may result in the loss of information or the Manual of Style being broken. The edits to the amanda dowler page have been reverted for both of these points. Please take some time to read the Manual of Style and if you feel that major edits are need the discuss them on the talk page. Many thanks --Lucy-marie 14:32, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see where you are coming from but the manual of style is very clear only surnames should be used in articles referring to criminals and victims.--Lucy-marie 23:50, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya Tripod. Thanks for your recent inclusions to the Den article, it's great that you're helping to extend it. Regarding this part of your edit

"His return had been on the agenda almost every year since his demise, and Grantham had received his first offer to return in 1991, but had turned every offer until late 2002 as he felt that the show did not have the right storylines for him to return. He accepted the offer to return as the character now had more links with the show - his adoptive daughter Sharon had returned after six years away, his other daughter Vicki was about to return, and Dennis Rickman - the son Den hadn't known existed - was due to join the cast. Between 1995 and 2001, none of Den's family had been in the show, and Grantham felt that a return at this time would have been nothing more than a publicity stunt."

Did you get this info from a programme, a newspaper, or his autobiography or a mixture? I'd appreciate if you let me know (or perhaps direct me to any online sources you have), then I can add a source(s) in the article so no one will be able to claim that it's original research. Many thanks Gungadin 00:48, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of 1978 in motoring, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.prescriptiondrug-info.com/drug_information_online.asp?title=1978_in_motoring. Your edits to Birmingham City F.C.

Hi, sorry but I've removed your recent edits to Birmingham City F.C.. They were too long for the article but more importantly they were completely unsourced. Though if you were to do a couple of factually accurate paragraphs on the subject with references to reliable sources and post them on the article's talk page, then perhaps people could discuss how they might be used to improve the article. cheers, Struway2 | Talk 07:24, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adding non-notable footballers

Alex, I see you've been adding some non-notable footballers who coincidentally taught at the school you write about a lot. Given your previous record under your old username I doubt you'll read this, but please stop adding non-notable pages about your teachers or footballers who have not played at a notable level (playing at least once in a fully professional league is usually a good way of assessing it, particularly for the English leage system). Anyway, Phil and Nick Amos are now up for deletion, Nick as a speedy deletion as it's a page that was previously deleted and then resurrected by you as AlexWilkes. Your edits to AVFC and beyond

Just a friendly note to say that I reverted your edit to Aston Villa that added in a timeline of events. This was a duplicated list of what can be found in the prose on the main AVFC article and also in the separate history articles. A timeline is unnecessary and highly subjective. What qualifies an event as being noteworthy in the timeline. I would also like to remind you to use sources per WP:Verifiability and to use Reliable sources. Please don't fall into the same trap that your last account, User:AlexWilkes got into with numerous notes on the talk page that went unanswered. We are all trying to help you to build up these articles. Some articles such as Aston Villa F.C. have been peer reviewed and have passed the more stringent fac process. This means that largescale additions are unlikely to be needed as the content has been vetted. See the nominations for discussion of the text. In some cases you are adding in text that has been deleted as a result of the FAC and because of reviewers concerns. Please take heed of the advice given on your talk page and if you want to make a largescale addition or change to an article then please discuss it on the talk page of the article concerned. You seem to have a lot to offer Wikipedia in terms of adding information and actually writing articles. Unfortunately, at the moment, your editing is not following the Manual of Style. I hope you have a glance at the MOS and try and learn from your mistakes. Any questions/queries/diatribes can be left on my talk page. Thanks Woodym555 02:54, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Codsall Community High School

I note the additional information you've added to Codsall Community High School, regarding graffitti in 2003, and attacks on a bus driver in 2007. Can you provide a published source for these events? Were they reported in the Express & Star, or some other local paper? CJPargeter 08:58, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did not add the information about the bus driver attacks; it was already there when I added information about the graffhiti incident in 2003. I don't know of any internet sources for this, but it did happen as I was told about this by a reliable witness.

Thank you for your response. Regrettably, and as much as we'd like to, we can't all go round and ask your reliable witness to confirm what they saw. Verifiable reports don't have to be on the internet, they can be in the local press, a release from the bus company, even the parish magazine. I intend to take out the edits you've made, and request that you only put them back once you can provide a source that the rest of the world can check. CJPargeter 11:01, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seymour Morris

Your edits

I notice that you have made many edits to West Midlands-related articles. May I encourage you to use cite your sources by adding references to the article. Unsourced material can be removed without warning and I don't think you would want to see that considering the amount of time you have put into editing some of these articles. Also, try to avoid original research as this is not permitted by Wikipedia. Thanks! - Erebus555 16:44, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dion Dublin/Romeo Challenger/Ben Challenger

Could you please take a look at this before adding back in anything about Dion Dublin being Romeo Challenger's son. To quote:

Dublin was also quick to scotch the oft-quoted story that his father was once a member of 1970s hitmakers Showaddywaddy. "That's not true," he says. "It began as a joke and seems to have become part of football folklore. That wasn't my dad, it was a guy called Romeo Challenger who used to be the drummer in Showaddywaddy. "My dad knew Romeo and played with him and the story was started as a bit of a laugh. It's been bandied about for around ten years now that my dad was in Showaddywaddy but he never was."

Linking to years

I noticed on that many of the West Midlands-related articles, you are linking to years - by which I mean you are adding squared brackets around years such as 1974. Under the style guidelines of the UK WikiProject, it is advised that you do not do that. The only time when it is advised that you do is when there is a full date, like 29 October 2003. Linking to October 2003 is not advised. So for future edits, try not to link to partial dates and if you do see partial dates that are linked to then just delete the squared brackets around them. Thanks and happy editing! - Erebus555 (talk) 15:44, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

West Midlands and Metropolitan Boroughs

Thanks for your work in adding articles in these areas.

Unfortunately, a number of the links that you've put into these articles go to the wrong places. West Midlands is just a disambiguation link - it probably needs to be either West Midlands (county) or West Midlands conurbation depending on the context. Equally, Walsall and Dudley link to the towns that are the seat of governments of the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall and the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley respectively. If you mean the boroughs (as I note you tend to use the form Walsall borough), could you put those in, and use the "pipe trick" to get the effect you're looking for, like Walsall for example.

Thanks! Fingerpuppet (talk) 17:02, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You made some changes to Ewan MacColl, where links were of the form [[fubar]] you changed them to [[Fubar|fubar]]. There is no reason to do this. The first character of page names is not case-sensitive, so these will work just fine in their original form. I've put them back to the simpler way. You also made similar changes to Kim Medcalf, and I'm guessing to other articles as well. I hope you'll go back and straighten these out as well. Matchups (talk) 04:55, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Norman Brennan

A tag has been placed on Norman Brennan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Refrencing and Sarah Payne

Please do not be unconstructive and blanket revert improvements to the Sarah Payne article by experienced users. Also referencing should be carried out using the citation templates where possible and not inline web drops. Please be more constructive in your edits and read the appropriate guidelines. Please See WP:CITE and WP:CITET.--Lucy-marie (talk) 17:35, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of British supercentenarians

Hi Tripod I have just reverted your edits to List of British supercentenarians, because they are all based on a source which requires payment (see Wikipedia:External_links#Sites_requiring_registration), and which in any case is based on user-submitted data, and is therefore not a reliable source.

I'm sorry to undo your work, but there is a lot of hype around longevity, and it is important to stick to reliable sources.

I will copy this message to Talk:List of British supercentenarians, and suggest that we discuss it there if you want to talk about it. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 20:58, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When creating articles...

...Can you please add categories? It makes it so much easier for people viewing Wikipedia to find the subject if they can't remember the name. Please take this on board, it is vital, as I have noticed you haven't seemed to have taken in points I or other editors have made. Thanks and happy editing! - Erebus555 (talk) 20:58, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Darcy Flynn

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Darcy Flynn, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Darcy Flynn. slakrtalk / 16:40, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

Hi. When you create a new page, can you add a relevant category to it please? There is currently a backlog of >5500 pages that need categories (see Category:Category needed). If you could add categories to your pages, this would help keep the backlog to a minimum. Cheers Nouse4aname (talk) 20:37, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
