The Taim Ecological Station, administered by IBAMA, was created in 1978, having an area of 33 815 hec. It is located in a narrow land strip between the Atlantic Ocean and the Lagoa Mirim, in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The BR471 highway crosses the reserve in the longitudinal direction. The objective is to prerserve one of the main ecosystems in the country, as well as allow for scientific studies conducted by institutions and universities.
