Birthplace
Best info I have seen is born in New York, raised in Dallas. Only reference I have seen is from a Sep 10, 2007 article in the Fort Worth Star Telegram with a google summary of "7 pm Sunday, National Geographic Channel Wizards of Waverly Place Born in New York City but raised in Dallas, former Barney & Friends co-star Selena Gomez ..." and a url of http://www.star-telegram.com/television/story/228147.html Unfortunately that url seems to lead to an archived story so we can't use it as a reference. --NrDg 22:21, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- A San Antonio Express News article refers to her as "Texas-born". - TexasAndroid 18:16, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Born in New York??? Selena is my friend from Grand Prairie. We grew up together and my family is close with her family and I know for a fact that she was born in Texas. When I saw this article I called her and she said that Disney thought it would be good to say that she was born in New York to add more elegance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.118.121.169 (talk) 13:18, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Selena was born in dallas, Texas. She was born in 22 july, 1992. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luvnickj (talk • contribs) 20:57, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Selena was born in Texas, not New York City. Link: http://www.familytreelegends.com/records/20902?c=search&first=selena&last=gomez ~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.19.17.38 (talk) 00:55, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Although familytreelegends shows someone with the same name and commonly-accepted birthdate, it's not definitive proof it's her. Most reputable sources say she's a "Texas native", but I couldn't find one which directly said she was born in Texas. On the other hand I couldn't find a source that said she was born in New York that didn't look like a Wiki derivative. Gimmetrow 01:50, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- FamilyTreeLegends is sourced from official birth and genealogy records, and every date and name on the site is correct. It is an official site. Look up anyone you wish who was born in California or Texas (The site covers some 10 states so far) and the names and birth dates will correspond. Jennifer Aniston is listed, Colbie Caillat is listed, among many, many others. The site is used to source many birth dates on Wikipedia, including Sara Bareilles, among others. There is only one Selena Marie Gomez born July 22, 1992 in Dallas, Texas, one is not listed as a California birth for that date, so the San Diego comment below is ludicrous. I'm not understanding why the site's authenticity as a source is being disputed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.19.17.65 (talk) 23:15, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
I think it's clear by now, that she was born in the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex and not in New York. I understand that was a publicity rumor - connected with Wizards of Waverly Place. However there is a question of how muc accurency we are going for. I highly doubt that she was born in Grand Prairie, she probably was born in Dallas and raised in Grand Prairie, as most babies from Grand Prairie are born in Dallas hospitals. But as the Metroplex is really like one big city, I think this may not matter? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.205.148.75 (talk) 16:55, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
Well according to The Insider it sais she was born in New York, New York, and raised in Grand Prarie Tx. http://www.theinsider.com/celebrities/Selena_Gomez also http://www.celebritywonder.com/html/selenagomez.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by Torres27 (talk • contribs) 20:37, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Music
I noticed the article lists her genres as Pop, Rock, and R&B, but I did not know she had recorded anything other than the Wizards of Waverly Place theme song and part of a song for her part as McKayla on Hannah Monatan. Does anyone have any information on this? Sundancin (talk) 00:57, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
She recorded a version of 'Cruella De Vil' for the Platinum Edition of 101 Dalmatians.
On Hannah Montana Selena did not sing the song, she was lipsynching a song by Julie Griffin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.105.189.97 (talk) 02:36, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
She has recorded "Everything is not what it seems" as theme song in Wizards of Waverly Place, "If cupid had a heart for Hannah Montana, and "Tell me something I don't know" and "Bang a drum" with Drew Seeley, and " New Classic" for the upcoming film " Another Cinderella Story.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Luvnickj (talk • contribs) 21:04, 11 August 2008
On Amazon.com her album has been titled as "Kiss And Tell" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxxie Blu (talk • contribs) 20:10, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Didn't she sing that song? 12.218.12.255 (talk) 00:05, 24 March 2008 (UTC)Lemony_Snicket
- No she didn't. She did the physical performance, the vocals were performed by another person. --NrDg 18:29, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
But it sounds like her -LLR —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.114.144.24 (talk) 21:23, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes she sang that song i have proof! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.255.160.97 (talk) 00:48, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
IT'S NOT SELENA GOMEZ AND IT DOESN'T SOUND A THING LIKE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.70.92 (talk) 02:12, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Selena sang in her Christmas 'O8 video greeting acapella. It's not possible that she has some sort of amplifier or any other technological stuff. Her voice there is good and sounds like her record. Why would she record an album if the singer is not her? It would be useless and pointless to release the record without crediting the real singer. So most probably, she sang the songs in her record and this song.
That is sooooooooooooooooooooooo not her! I'm a total righter not a total wronger. Did u buy her cd? Uh no! well ur wrong! That's not her! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.171.0.148 (talk) 15:56, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
IT ISN'T HER IF YOU'VE EVER SEEN GET A CLUE STARRING LINDSEY LOHAN AND BRENDA SONG THE SAME SONG IS IN THE BACKGROUND —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.174.166.195 (talk) 00:11, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Debut Album release
There was recent news that Selena's debut album will be released in July. She did say that straight from her SayNow account and it has been announced in other news sites. Can we incorporate this change in the article yet? --Geekboy6 (talk) 16:20, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
- If the news source meets the reliable source requirements and what is added to the article accurately reports what the source says, then you should have no problems putting it in the article. --NrDg 17:32, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
It's coming out on September 29, 2009! (Blackguitar316) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Blackguitar316 (talk • contribs) 00:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Selena's personal life
You should of added about Her brakeing up with Nick Jonas.her mom had her at 16 if you dont believe me add it up her mom is 32 now which would make her 16 when she had her.I dislike the show but I like her I have Her poster on my door my friend is obessedwith her —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.229.42.85 (talk) 16:59, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- This article is about Selena Gomez, not her mother. No reliable source (gossip sites are not reliable) makes mention of any relationship with Jonas and the principals deny it. --NrDg 20:42, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
"brakeing up?" Oh, yes. You seem very credible. I believe you. < / sarcasm > You must not have been following the news too closely; there has not been any confirmation of a relationship between them. They made that video and then from that fans and journalists feeding off of fan frenzy began creating a relationship between them, much like with many male-female friendships in Hollywood. If there is something that Selena does, other than a quote, that could possibly, and reasonably, include the age of her mother when she was born, then I'm sure it will be added.75.179.161.245 (talk) 01:39, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
Shouldn't the fact that she wears a promisary ring and is saving herself until marriage be mentioned? It's obviously an important aspect of her personal life to her.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.71.29.190 (talk • contribs) 16:18, May 29, 2009 (UTC)
On June 5th, 2009 Selena Gomez twittered, "I'm gonna move to Indiana. Is that cool Indiana?" Therefore, she is moving to Indiana. I got that from her personal Twitter account. That is really important because moving is a big change, especially moving across the country. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Emg123123 (talk • contribs) 20:59, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Moving is not very important, and i honestly don't think shes moving just because she said so on Twitter. Frehley 21:37, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think you completely get twitter . . . I can't figure out how to explain how you know, but she WAS joking. There are certain things she says on Twitter, though, that could be put in here as fact, though they are not really encyclopedic.75.179.161.245 (talk) 04:32, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
In the newest article of Seventeen, Selena Gomez did admit to dating Nick and implied that he broke up with her and having a feud with Miley last year. Not sure if you want to add that... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.11.186.170 (talk) 19:03, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
She is now an active member on Yahoo Answers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sgomez22 (talk • contribs) 08:15, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Philanthropy
Under the Philanthropy section, it quotes Selena as saying that she wants to "encourage other kids to make a different in the world" but in the article she is quoted as saying that she wants to "encourage other kids to make a difference in the world." With the difference between the two as the word "difference". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Babyluigi123 (talk • contribs) 05:23, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Age..
Can someone update the page showing she is 18? 69.14.91.247 (talk) 20:07, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- Age calculations are automatic based on birthdate. At this time, she has only been 17 for a couple of weeks.—Kww(talk) 20:09, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
SHE IS NOT 18!! SHE'S 17! SHE TURNED 17 ON JULY 22ND!!!!
You are mistaken she turned 18 Last July STUPID! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.171.0.148 (talk) 20:40, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Controversy?
I propose we delete the controversey section as it is short and poorly written. Plus it's not much of a controversy - just girls wearing bikinis. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.11.186.170 (talk) 18:55, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
I think selena is fabulas!!! Stick with it peeps! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.171.0.148 (talk) 20:36, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Band
It should be noted that according to Selena's twitter, her band will be called The Scene and they will collectively be known as Selena Gomez and The Scene. Also the first single will be released via radio disney on August 21st and Selena and the band are in the process of shooting the singles music video. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.116.76.6 (talk) 09:26, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Kiss and Tell album article
Shouldn't there already be an article for her band's "Kiss and Tell" album? The cover, the tracklisting, the first single, and the release date has already been released. I think there's enough information for an article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.232.58.47 (talk) 19:58, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Selena Gomez discography
I am proposing a new article entitled Selena Gomez discography. With several charting singles, now a debut album, participation in soundtracks and compilation albums and music videos, Selena Gomez has plenty of information for her own discography page. I however need conscientious, please share your opinion. --Ipodnano05 (talk) 23:27, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Only two of her solo songs have charted. --Randolph3 23:31, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Tell Me Something I Don't Know, One and the Same, Magic and Send It On on the Hot 100, New Classic under the Bubbling Under Hot 100 and Cruella de Vil on the Pop 100. That's five charting singles. Other discographies like Mitchel Musso's have less. --Ipodnano05 (talk) 05:13, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm all for it. Shes going to be releasing more music in the future anyways. It'll make more sense to release it now.Sunshine ☼ (talk) 19:15, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- I think it's a pretty good decision for her own Discography page. She has released singles (all of which are charted too), done songs for various soundtracks and she's now even debuting her album. It makes pretty good sense for a discography page.
- She already has many songs, and I think that she needs a discography page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.145.138.183 (talk) 03:15, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
With this I believe a discography page may be made, feel free to help and edit. --Ipodnano05 (talk) 20:55, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose. 5 soundtrack appearances, 7 music videos, and 4 singles. Only two of her songs have charted. Keep it merged to this page for now. When she has more charted singles, perhaps then an article can be created. But not now. POKERdance talk/contribs 21:31, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- One and the Same, Send it On have also charted. Besides, charted songs aren't the only requirements needed. She has made enough music so far with soundtracks, singles and her album. So a Discography page can and should be made. --GalaxyTurboTwister
- I think it should be done. She has been involved in several music projects, many of which have charted. The only thing I have a problem with is that her new music is under name "Selena Gomez & The Scene", so would her discography page have sections for The Scene and solo projects? Akcvtt (talk) 02:00, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Strongly oppose this. A discography page for 4 singles and 5 soundtrack appearances? Broken up and fragmented into a weird little pieces because she has never done an entire project on her own, so you are going to have a little table for TV show songs, and a little one for soundtracks, and one for done with a group, and one for this and one for that? Makes no sense at all to me.—Kww(talk) 02:07, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- I think we should once her album comes out--Debbie rocks (talk) 00:04, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- I think it should be done. She has now 7 singles, 11 soundtrack appearances, a debut-album and 7 music videos...! other singers like Demi Lovato have not more singles. (sorry for the englisch, I'm from germany.)-- 84.150.202.197 (talk) 15:07, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Picture
That pic of her is not the best can you please change it!!!!!!!!!!!!! --~~Carrie~~Underwood~~ 4Ever~~&~~Ever~~JP (talk) 02:30, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- The current image is the best free picture available. Until another free image can be found it can't be changed. Frehley 19:15, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Template???
Selena is not just an actress anymore. She is a singer shouldn't we change her template to musical artist. The actor template is good enough to fit the standards. She is becoming a musical artist and I think it is about time we change the template to that. What do you guys think?--Sprite7868 (talk) 02:11PM, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- I agree and I will add that in. However, only because it gives more information about Gomez. Not because she's "not just an actress." POKERdance talk/contribs 19:28, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
"Moviie"
You spelled "movie" as "moviie" somewhere along the line. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.197.211.243 (talk) 22:57, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Barney: Sharing is Caring
If you look on iTunes, you'll see a recently released Barney film with Selena Gomez credited as on of the actors (obviously it was filmed when she was much younger). It's entitled Barney: Sharing is Caring. Do we add this to her filmography page? If so, what year would we put it under? Sunshine ☼ (talk) 23:48, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
2009 Primetime Creative Arts Emmys
{{editsemiprotected}}
For Selena's awards, can you please add her win for the 2009 Primetime Creative Arts Emmys? She won the "Outstanding Children’s Program Award" for her work in Wizards of Waverly Place. Please take some time to go over this. There's proof all over the web that she did AND Selena herself documented a video of her reaction. [1]

Birthplace and race
Why dibt Hi!!! Though not a bid deal, one fact is incorrect. Selena is Mexican, definitely. And her MOTHER is half-white and half-Mexican. She is just Mexican. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Angellebrad (talk • contribs) 18:24, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- I have heard that her mother, Mandy, was full Italian American, while the dad was Mexican American. And also, many biographies state she was born in NYC but moved to Texas as a baby? (PEOPLE.com says she was born and raised in Grand Prairie, Texas, which is what this article uses as a source.) ★Dasani★ 23:12, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
