Welcome to myFile:Jorge Garcia Madrid.jpg user talk page!

Please do all of the following:
  • Always link to the text, File:Jorge Garcia Madrid.jpg , or edit you want to discuss. When linking to an image, use a colon. For example, "[[:Image:Example.jpg]]" produces "Image:Example.jpg".
  • Don't forget to provide a proper Edit Summary for each and every edit, and a proper signature for each and every post to a talk page or notice board. I may revert edits that do not have such features, rather than respond to them.
  • Reply to interactive messages at the location of the original topic to not scatter talk all around, fracturing the discussion. I do have nearly all pages I have posted to recently on my Watchlist. If I missed a comment, please use {{Talkback}} to drop me a short reminder with a link here.
  • Respect my babel boxes. Write in English. I'm also able to communicate in Spanish a bit, but with that language I can't give a guarantee that I will really comprehend the meaning of your message.
  • If you're copying files from any project to Commons, be sure to use the CommonsHelper.
  • If you're copying pics from Flickr, be sure to use Flinfo, the easy way to upload pics from Flickr.
  • If your text or image is lacking source, license, or permission, fix that instead of asking here what is wrong. There should be a message on your talk page explaining things in detail. Apologies for having to be so clear if this message is not related to the matter you would like to address.
  • Post here if you want to reach me, or reply to a post below via the edit link above that post.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Flapjack

Hi, if you compare the edits I made to the Flapjack episode page, you'll see I didn't actually add any info at all. All I did was copy edit some sections and add fact tags to unsourced statements. Reverting the page still contains all these errors minus the fact tags.

e.g.

What's there now (after your reverts):

"Captain and ToeNeil" is the name incorrectly used for the pilot short that was supposed to originally air as part of Cartoon Network's Wedgies. After it was canceled for some reason, it was advertised as a bonus featurette on the Flapjack, Vol. 1 DVD. When the DVD was released, it was not on the DVD. At a later date, the series creator, Thurop Van Orman stated that Captain and ToeNeil was just a regular short and not the pilot. Captain and ToeNeil and the unnamed pilot will more than likely never be aired. A short clip of the pilot was shown on an interview with Thurop on cartoonnetwork.com.

Compared to my edits:

""Captain and ToeNeil" is an unaired short incorrectly identified as the non-broadcast pilot episode, and originally planned as a bonus feature included on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Vol. 1 DVD. Ultimately, the DVD was released without the short and Thurop Van Orman, the series creator, later stated[where?] that "Captain and ToeNeil" was in fact not the pilot. The pilot itself has also never been aired, however, a short clip of the pilot was shown on an interview with Thurop on Cartoonnetwork.com.[where?] There are no current plans to release either short.[citation needed]"

In fact, rather than just reverting one edit, you mass reverted all of them which if you actually bothered to take the time to look you'd see was mostly nothing but copy editing for grammar, formatting, etc. In the future, you should take the time to actually look at what you're reverting.

I don't mean to object to the three-revert rule, but I would like to explain myself, if I may. As I am new to editing Wikipedia content, I made the mistake of discussing my edits via private message with 117Avenue (who has consistently undone every edit I have ever made). That is, of course, my fault. However, I would like to point out that my intent was not to "edit war;" I was trying to have a legitimate debate about the content. I would also like to point out that my edits are more in line with the Wikipedia Manual of Style MOS:IDENTITY.

Please excuse my initial ignorance of acceptable debate procedures. My only intent is a to encourage a fair and respectful discussion of transgender persons in the media. Thank you for your time. ATgirl (talk) 17:54, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss your issues with the article at Talk:List of Degrassi: The Next Generation characters. Thanks!   — Jeff G.  ツ 17:56, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for your prompt reply! However, I am writing to you regarding the warning I received for editing the article in question, not the content of the actual article. Thanks again!! ATgirl (talk) 18:03, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I misinterpreted. I removed the warning. You're welcome. If you identify as a specific gender (as "girl" in your username appears to imply), you may want to set that gender in your preferences.   — Jeff G.  ツ 18:10, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Dubious" edits

I see that you routinely revert unsourced edits with the edit summary "Reverted addition of dubious unsourced content." The particular edit which caught my attention, a table of leading goaltenders in the 1967 NHL season, is correct in every particular. The very next such edit of yours I checked has you claiming as "dubious" and "unsourced" changing the 'years active' date of a band planning an October release from "aug 2010" to "present." Among others is one where you use the tag to revert an item with the source and date named in the edit you reverted, your marking as "dubious" that The Graduate soundtrack reached the top of the Billboard album chart on April 6, 1968 (which, in fact, it did) and was knocked off by the album Bookends on May 25 (which, in fact, it was). Many of these reversions are packed closely together and target anon IPs, which begs the question as to whether you're just parking on Recent Changes and swinging at anything lacking an inline citation posted by someone who isn't an established editor.

Now this is very well and good, but it's a WP:AGF and WP:BITE violation both to hurl the word "dubious" at people when, in fact, the edits in question are accurate, and take only moments to ascertain whether or not they are. It is insulting to others to routinely categorize their edits as "dubious" and careless to do so indiscriminately without any notion as to whether they actually are.  RGTraynor  20:26, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and thank you for your concern. I am not "parking on Recent Changes", I am using huggle. "Reverted addition of dubious unsourced content" is the de facto standard nomenclature used by huggle for reversions of unsourced content. You may try to change that status at Wikipedia:Huggle/Feedback. If it makes you feel any better, I have removed "dubious" from my huggle.css file in this edit, but you may encounter resistance from hard-liners who insist that everything in every article (or at least every BLP) be sourced, making unsourced content "dubious" by definition. The hard line was defined when Jimmy Wales wrote 'There seems to be a terrible bias among some editors that some sort of random speculative "I heard it somewhere" pseudo information is to be tagged with a "needs a cite" tag. Wrong. It should be removed, aggressively, unless it can be sourced. This is true of all information, but it is particularly true of negative information about living persons.' in this message to WikiEN-l May 16 20:30:15 UTC 2006.   — Jeff G.  ツ 01:59, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Jimmy's quote above is referenced by the second paragraph of Wikipedia's Biographies of living persons policy.   — Jeff G.  ツ 08:16, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response ... and yes, I'm aware of Jimbo's quote, which I support. It still doesn't change the meaning of the word "dubious," nor make its routine and automatic use any less inflammatory and bitey. I'll raise the issue at Huggle Feedback; thanks for the link there.  RGTraynor  12:26, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yossi Benayoun

Hi. I'm not sure why you made this revert to the Yossi Benayoun article. The edit you reverted was clearly itself reverting earlier vandalism. Cordless Larry (talk) 20:40, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The person who made the edit I reverted did not give a reason as to why they were removing "Judas" from (and adding "The Kid" and "The Diamond" to) a BLP. Yes, it turned out "Judas" appeared to have been maliciously added by 82.39.169.219 (who I warned in this edit), but where did they get "The Kid"?   — Jeff G.  ツ 01:37, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps a fair point, but that wasn't really a good reason to restore "Judas". Cordless Larry (talk) 07:41, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So why exactly is he called "The Kid", and who exactly calls him that?   — Jeff G.  ツ 07:44, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why he is nicknamed that, but I added a reference to the article yesterday that establishes that it is one of his nicknames. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:46, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.   — Jeff G.  ツ 07:47, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why was that vandalism? I added a sourced info: http://books.google.com/books?id=l6nBKeeXXesC&pg=PA367&dq=coanda+1910+jet&hl=en&ei=cf1oTOSRFM6J4QbLl6CZBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CDYQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=coanda%201910%20jet&f=false; Henri: Webster's Quotations, Facts and Phrases, page 367 (79.117.152.9 (talk) 05:55, 22 August 2010 (UTC))[reply]

In doing so, you removed five references. Why?   — Jeff G.  ツ 05:56, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Those sources are not verifiable (some old magazines), and were added here. I am not vandalazing, just restoring the older stable version(79.117.152.9 (talk)) —Preceding undated comment added 06:02, 22 August 2010 (UTC).[reply]

This eminent professor is being misquoted by creationists ALL over the internet, This is outrageous. Why do you think that you are in charge of me and what I do?

If I have told you that I am not yet finished with the article, then that means it is not finished. So quit bitching about the lack of cites. Also, not ever sentence needs a citation. I could find no such requirement when I tried to research this stuff on the how-to pages of Wikipedia.

You also need to stop stalking me. This is the third time within the last 30 minutes where you have been following and commenting on me on completely different articles. This is very creepy behavior and I find it harassing. Republic of Texas (talk) 07:16, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Everything does need to be referenced - please see section '"Dubious" edits' above.   — Jeff G.  ツ 07:19, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So how about waiting till I get finished with you before you jump in? Is that too much to ask? If I am not done with it, it will be incomplete. So, yeah, some cites may not be there yet. So how about waiting till I get done?
You seem to be the kind of person who likes it stick their nose into everything. In just checking out your pages I see where you have been jumping around from article to article within a matter of seconds and reverting edits, passing out warnings like candy, and doing all sorts of shit in what appears to be a very not well thought out way. The judgments you are attempting to make are not the type that can be successfully accomplished within the few seconds you devote to the issue before you suddenly jump to something else. Lastly, I do see any mention of any educational or professional credentials on your talk page. Without that kind of information, no one can judge the credibility of your arguments and actions. I went to Harvard. I have a law degree and a master's in public policy. I am also a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army. Very few 'editors' on wikipedia have much in the way of credentials. Without proper credentials, its hard to take someone's arguments seriously. Republic of Texas (talk) 07:31, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I sometimes use huggle and other tools to monitor and respond to unwanted edits to this project. Whether or not an addition is sourced, or a removal is explained, is very easy for me to see in a few seconds; what you don't see are the many edits which I decide to skip. My talk page is no place for educational or professional credentials. My user page might be if I were not as stringent about isolating my various online and real-world personae from each other; suffice it to say that I have a four-year degree and three professional certifications, have managed systems that served over 10,000 employees, and have been fighting unwanted electronic information and destruction for about twenty years, including most of my over 70,000 edits to Wikimedia Foundation projects (over 62,000 of which were here on English Wikipedia). I would also like to invite you to please see section '"Dubious" edits' above for the reason why I am so stringent in my attempts to ensure that articles here are well-referenced.   — Jeff G.  ツ 08:12, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please also be aware that your accusation above could be taken as a personal attack or libel, and I respectfully request that you cease and desist from making any further such accusations. Thank you.   — Jeff G.  ツ 08:20, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging of Tuxedomoon

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Tuxedomoon. I disagree with the speedy deletion of Tuxedomoonbecause this band definitely meets WP:NBAND, the notability criteria for bands, because it has two or more albums on Crammed Discs, a major label.. You should therefore not retag Tuxedomoon for speedy deletion. You are, of course, free to tag the article with {{prod}} or nominate it at WP:AFD. 79.181.116.5 (talk) 19:28, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A personal comment :
That was a rather hasty decision to tag this article for deletion following the silliness of an unexperienced user who added copyrighted material. Please review the article intensively and see if they don't meet the notability guidelines (such as WP:NBAND ) before you tag them for speedy deletion in the future. Thanks for your consideration. 79.181.116.5 (talk) 19:54, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I tagged the band article for not having any claim to notability. Since you brought up WP:NBAND, which point or points of WP:NBAND do you think they meet, including any reliable sources? Thanks!   — Jeff G.  ツ 20:00, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wait, I am looking into your claim about Crammed Discs...   — Jeff G.  ツ 20:02, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I guess you meant to write "excluding" reliable sources, not "including" as you erroneously wrote. 79.181.116.5 (talk) 20:04, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, the band appears to meet criterion 5 of WP:NBAND. I am sorry I overreacted and incompletely read your first post above. However, I don't think Crammed Discs is a "major label", rather it is "one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)." The article could still use verifiable reliable sources.   — Jeff G.  ツ 20:09, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Have you seen User:67.136.117.132? If you have an issue with the IP's signature, then it's probably better to bring it up at their talk page than to revert their edits for no reason. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:06, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I do see the issue, though, so I have altered the signatures accordingly. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:36, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There's no issue and User:67.136.117.132 is in violation of no policies. A long-time registered editor has tried to retire, and chooses to do a limited amount of editing from a dynamic ip at home (174.) and another static ip from work (67.). He can't be accused of impersonating himself, and has a user page at User:67.136.117.132, which plainly explains the situation. You would have seen nothing wrong if he were a registered user using home and work accounts, and there's no reason to treat ip editors, particularly valued contributors, as second-class. --RexxS (talk) 23:54, 22 August 2010 (UTC) correct & clarify --RexxS (talk) 00:07, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is Fact Jeff ,and has been in this position until your overzealous editing! Can you prove 100% it's not true?

In mid-2000,on a trip to Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, he met up with the Gen-X pastellist, visual activist, and recluse James DeWeaver in Byron Bay where he stencilled a parachuting rat with a clothes peg on its nose above a toilet at the Arts Factory Lodge. In 2008, the owners of the backpackers found out its value and relocated it. This stencil can no longer be located. Banksy posed nude for Spencer Tunick along with DeWeaver and forty others in this same time period, the resulting photo can be seen on DeWeaver's site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.218.88.206 (talk) 04:09, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Manual Reverts?

Out of curiosity, what's up with the edit summaries you've been leaving lately? 69.181.249.92 (talk) 04:38, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please be more specific?   — Jeff G.  ツ 04:42, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, take a look at your contributions. There's suddenly a lot of seemingly-automatic summaries that start off with "Manually Reverted edits by insert user name here to last revision by" - note that there's no info on who's version you're revert to. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 04:57, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

dear user

I'm restoring the page that was there. it was deleted by some one else. I did not add external links, I was editing (info that some else was tampering with) (Berberpedia (talk) 04:54, 23 August 2010 (UTC))[reply]

It was moved to Shilha language, using the Anglophone spelling, as this is English Wikipedia. Why do you think Shilha language is a hoax?   — Jeff G.  ツ 04:57, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shilha is Arabic term for Tachelhit (Tachlehit is the Anglophone spelling ) it is Classified as Central Moroccan Tamazigh. We have two pages that talk about one language . Wikipedia user/editors need to merge (Central Morocco Tamazight and Tachelhit Language in to one page ) ( also referred to as Atlas Language)

Chleuhs or Chleuh is both ( Anglo -English or Francophone French) (Berberpedia (talk) 05:08, 23 August 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Please discuss any moves you wish to make on the relevant talk pages and stop with the hoax tags and cut-and-paste moves. Thanks!   — Jeff G.  ツ 05:11, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I recommend that you change the Shilha back to Tachelhit Language .(Berberpedia (talk) 05:20, 23 August 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Comment, Clarification

THis is in response to your message on my user page, which I've posted below. Just so you know, I accidentally blanked a redirect page [I was trying to figure out a better way to redirect and accidentally hit save] and then immed. reverted it. I was not vandalizing the page. For some reason, when you look at the history of the page it doesn't show that I reverted it, but that you did seconds after--via one of your bots I'm sure. Anyways, I just wanted to clarify situation. The msg you posted on my page was:

"Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to the page Category:Authors. Blank pages can confuse readers, and are overall not helpful to the Wikipedia project; furthermore, blanking a page is not the same as deleting it. If the article you blanked is a duplicate of another article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalized, please revert it to the last legitimate revision. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please use the appropriate deletion process. — Jeff G. ツ 03:51, 23 August 2010 (UTC)"

thanks. Bkmays (talk) 05:38, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. When you tried to commit your reversion, I had already committed mine, so the software ignored your attempt. And no, it was not a bot.   — Jeff G.  ツ 05:41, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

page 2010-11 Indonesian Super League, i have knowledge about this. why do you remove my writing? you know, that in the page i wrote "Persatuan Sepakbola Makassar" and remove PSM Makassar because "PSM Makassar" is wrong. do you know about Indonesian football club? i want to edit them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Deyede (talkcontribs) 05:55, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Jeff, Thanks for the heads up - I really did not completely understand Wikipedia's policy on British/American/Other spelling of words. I will refrain from "correcting" these spelling "errors". Re: Your talk page message

Hi. In regards to your message to me here, I'd like to point out that I left a very clear edit summary in my edit. The proceeding user, Eddie Schluessel was actually the one who undid my edit without an edit summary for no valid reason (if you look, their edit actually restored - among others things - long-standing vandalism as Leo Sayer wasn't in a 1924 film ;)). In fact, the user has gone round undoing all my edits for no valid reason (some were even restored by another IP user). I know you're not an admin, but perhaps this user's action merit a warning as I'm actually trying to improve the project. Thanks. 70.241.16.221 (talk) 06:12, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, I have reverted it. Is this edit ok? Thanks!   — Jeff G.  ツ 06:21, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, you didn't have to go that far but thank you. I wasn't offended or irritated by the warning (sorry if it came off that way), I just wanted to let you know I wasn't blindly reverting. Thank you again and I sincerely apologize if I came off like a shrew. Have a good night (or day!). 70.241.16.221 (talk) 06:32, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tuxedomoon

Tuxedomoon and Crammed Discs require the attention of someone more experienced than I. I found these pages when I was patrolling random pages. I tagged a band for notability and was told that the band was notable because it had two albums on a major label. After looking at Crammed Discs, I could not find evidence of notability and tagged it as such. The tag was removed and I was told it was "Unquestioningly notable". There are lots of links to investigate and I simply don't have the time to unravel what I expect is a Gordian Knot. Just thought you should know. Dethlock99 (talk) 14:58, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As discussed at #Tagging of Tuxedomoon above, I believe record label Crammed Discs is not a major label, but "one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)." Tuxedomoon has released at least 16 albums per Tuxedomoon's Releases page on Crammed Discs' website (which I need to put in the article), its label Crammed Discs has a history of 30 years (since 1980), and Crammed Discs' article here lists five notable performers as the latest on its roster. Thus, it is notable per WP:NBAND criterion 5 (but still could use more verifiable reliable sources). I'll try to look into the notability of Crammed Discs later.   — Jeff G.  ツ 23:04, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Traian Vuia

Your last edit to Traian Vuia included the statement that he was the first to fly without a catapult, rails, etc. Was this what you intended or did you get crossed up because of competing revisions? If this was your intention please let me know so I can belabour you with evidence to the contrary.(incidentally, all the periodical references being deleted from Coanda 1910 [and Henri Coanda] from the early 1900's are available on Googlebooks.)Romaniantruths (talk) 01:56, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was reverting this edit, which appeared to remove content from two paragraphs without explanation. The content in the first paragraph was added in the previous edit without references, and may be incorrect given the content of first flying machine.   — Jeff G.  ツ 02:19, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're right, Vuia wasn't the first. However, is it wise to keep the content in the second paragraph, "and a description of several aircraft from before 1906 credited with being able to take off from a flat surface by on-board means without outside assistance, such as an incline, rails, or a catapult", or is "Debate continues over the precise definition of "first" airplane (see first flying machine for more discussion)" sufficient?   — Jeff G.  ツ 02:31, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
