Ladies and Gentleman is a Malayalam comedy film written and directed by Siddique and starring Mohanlal, Krish. J. Sathaar and Mamta Mohandas in the lead roles. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas. The film's soundtrack was composed by Ratheesh Vegha, with lyrics penned by Rafeeq Ahammed and Salavoodheen Kecheri. Cinematography is handled by Satheesh Kurup, and the editing is by K.R.Gowri Shanker.

Plot Summary

Ladies and Gentleman tells the story of Chandrabose (Mohanlal) whose wife's (Meera Jasmine) death has led him to become an alcoholic. He talks a young IT professional out of committing suicide and joins in the firm passing out positive philosophy which takes the firm from a struggling start-up to the top, and makes an impression on Anu (Mamta Mohandas), Jyothi (Padmapriya) and Chinnu (Mithra Kurian).

Production

The film was shot on locations in Kochi and Dubai. The film began its shoot and held its pooja on December 17, 2012.

Release

Ladies and Gentleman was awarded with "U" certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification. It was released on 12 April 2013.

Reception

The film received negative critical review upon release.

Sify.com says that "Ladies and Gentleman perhaps could be aimed mainly at hardcore Mohanlal fans."

Aswin of The Times of India says that "Ladies and Gentleman is not the celebration of virtues that mars the purpose, but a palpable lack of earnestness with which Siddique moulds his plot developed by ill-shaped characters."

Indiaglitz.com says that "Ladies and Gentleman is completely satisfy a die hard fan of Mohanlal, and family" and that the film is made of " twists that we can figure out miles away, plenty of moral lectures, confusions and stale jokes".

Smitha of Oneindia.in says that "Ladies And Gentleman will definitely be liked by family and hardcore fans of Mohanlal," calls the script " half baked" and the climax "a complete let down".

Box Office

The film completed 100 days in theatres across Kerala and was declared as hit at the box office.

The soundtrack was composed by Ratheesh Vegha, with lyrics penned by Rafeeq Ahmed and Salavoodheen Kecheri. The album consists of seven songs. The album was launched on 2 April 2013 at IMA Hall in Kochi. The event was attended by Mohanlal, Siddique, Ratheesh Vegha, Krish. J. Sathaar, Meera Jasmine, Mamta Mohandas and members of the technical crew and cast.
