Fatih Akyel (born December 6 1977) in Istanbul is a Turkish footballer who currently plays for Trabzonspor. He came up through the youth ranks of Galatasaray to become a part of the team that won the UEFA Cup and the European Super Cup in 2000 assisting Mario Jardel for the game winner againsr Real Madrid. He also played for Mallorca, Fenerbahçe, Bochum and Salonika. He has also played for the Turkish national team and was a part of the team that earned 3rd place at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He joined Trabzonspor in January 2006 and has since become a fixture in defense for the Black Sea outfit.
