Hello. I need help getting this approved. The problem that I continue to run into is the lack of sources. How do I get this article improved without having to be so precise about everything? Thank you.
Sophisticatedcheese (talk) 11:53, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
- Sophisticatedcheese I'm afraid you can't, the topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. You have no reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 12:00, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

I really dont know why my application has been rejected. It contains all the correct information ( i checked multiple times) it is in deph and the profile is about a skater i watched in bbc documentary "making of an ice princess " i wanted to find out more about this skater i can see she is well known with almost 15,000 followers on instagram and with many magazines and websites and articles tracking her progress it is easy to see she is of well enough caliber to have a wikipedia article especially when some of her competitors of lower calibers have them. I was very shocked when i realised she didnt have a page so i decided to do one for her myself im eager to fix any mistakes i would just like to know what im doing wrong. Thanks harmony Harmonyhiccup (talk) 15:08, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Harmonyhiccup: since this is a WP:BLP all sources have to be inline after the claim they are supposed to support, so please move all <ref>-Tags from the end of the page to the appropriate positions where they are needed. See WP:REFB for more info. Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 05:52, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

00:47:31, 2 September 2019 review of submission by JamesRodir
Hi Wikipedia helpers, I updated some of the references, can the helpers lighten me a little more on the notability issue please? what kind of sources would you consider reliable and independent? are Articles from Techcrunch, yahoo finance and business insider considered unsuitable? I have seen articles from other finance companies that use them such as venmo and BitPay, btw, the undisclosed template that was added to the article is not right because the former editor and me both have disclosed payment. Thanks. JamesRodir (talk) 22:27, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
00:55:59, 2 September 2019 review of draft by Miss Abbey Jane
Hi Wikipedia helpers, I have updated my Glomesh article page to feature link to significant coverage and also referenced old archives to prove it is part of Australia's fashion history. The draft is still pending review/publication and I was wondering if it will be actually be reviewed again or will it simply lapse and be deleted as it wasn't approved on the first submission? Thank you! Miss Abbey Jane
Miss Abbey Jane (talk) 00:55, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- Miss Abbey Jane Welcome to AfC help desk. I have just received your draft. However, it is not acceptable at the moment. We need more (at least another 3-4) sources from independent, reliable sources such as the one your provided - The Sydney Morning Herald. The other sources are from fashion magazines or interview which would considered not reliable/independent. Pls see the notability requirements for company -here - WP:NCORP. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 01:30, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
Thanks so much for replying CASSIOPEIA! That is really helpful. There are no other references available at this time for the article so fair enough. I will have to wait until it becomes more mainstream. Appreciate you looking into it. Miss Abbey Jane (talk) 01:51, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- Miss Abbey Jane Try to find sources from 1958 to 1980 as well for we accept print sources. Do make a copy the current content to Notepad (not Words) for the draft will keep in Wikipedia system for the next 6 months before it is deleted.Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:07, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
(talk) That is good to know about the print sources. I'll do some more tactile archive research and see what I can find. Thanks for the tip about Notepad too! Miss Abbey Jane (talk) 03:40, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
02:23:50, 2 September 2019 review of submission by Aleoanh073
Hello, thank you for reviewing my first submission of the page. It is my first time and I apologize for all of the errors. I would like to create this page as I have heard Mark speak at numerous conferences from NY to MA to CT and read his articles in regard to Diversity and Leadership. I think he is a great advocate and would like to do create a wiki page for him so that others can be encouraged and inspired to do the same. Thank you so much.
Aleoanh073 (talk) 02:23, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Aleoanh073: Your best bet is to try to find some coverage of the Curphy-Roellig Followership Model, to show that it is notable. If nobody has written about it, it's not considered notable, and that affects Mark Roellig's notability. TechnoTalk (talk) 20:42, 4 September 2019 (UTC)

Will the page be re-reviewed?
Aleoanh073 (talk) 02:34, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Aleoanh073: - the draft is certainly less "CV-like" than it was. However, it has no sources so has zero chance of making it through a review. After you've added sufficient sources, you can edit it and put {{subst:submit}} at the top to submit it. You can also ask here or the Teahouse and someone can do it for you. Administration, Being new on wikipedia I am not familiar with so many rules and regulations. first do consider this part. Secondly, my article Aryan Khan has been declined twice. First the reason was completely justified by the user who made the edit that i "didnt use the natural tone and used some peacock terminologies in the content and focused on khan's father more in the content". I made changes and published it again. Second time, the editor came up with a completely different reason. First she said that the resources used are not proper. I did made some changes. The secondly the complaint was for that the personality is non-notable. For this i put a tag of
The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's general notability guideline. |
at the top of the page. But still in my opinion the personality has enough sources to support its media presence. So for this reason it shouldn't be declined. Plus why not my first editor has informed me for this that the personality is non-notable. The page i have uploaded definately have enough sources in support. Then, as per my experience there are hundreds of pages that have absolutely weak sources to support but still the page exsit. I have tried my best and provided diverse range of references. Please note that the personality has media presence that is why i have came up with this much content. Kindly consider! This was my first article!! Please help!! I have made the chnages and improved it as much as i could. Kindly consider my submission one more time!! ♥

Hello, I am new here and I read about this singer and thought it would be nice to have an article about her. There is a long one in the Portuguese version but I am not sure how appropriate it is to translate and what would be the requirements for an article about a musician. I also don't understand how the info boxes work. It was already a challenge to get the rest to a state that to me seems to be working. 17:11:18, 2 September 2019 review of draft by Zahmed555
My submission is denied, saying that my article/submission is passing without substantiating it. How do I substantiate my article? Please suggest what needs to be done. I spent many hours coming up with my article/submission. I am not a Wikipedia coding expert. Please advise.
Zahmed555 (talk) 17:11, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Zahmed555: Most critically, it needs sources that demonstrate notability. These must meet the requirements for basic biographical "notability (click the words for details on what they are.
- It is also a biography, so references must be "inline" (the little blue numbers that tie refs to specific facts). See referencing for beginners to find out how to do that
- It also reads more like a detailed CV, which is not how a biographical article should look like. Have a look at some other biographies to see some examples. Nosebagbear (talk) 22:32, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
21:54:35, 2 September 2019 review of submission by Tkefan29
I believe that this article should be added to Wikipedia, as it contains information about a growing grocery store chain. In my opinion this is important enough to be included.
Tkefan29 (talk) 21:54, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Tkefan29: - the fact that it's growing is irrelevant as to whether it's notable. Companies have to face a high requirement for notability, which means good sourcing. The sources present generally fall afoul of either: non-independent (the publisher has a reason to be biased either towards supermarkets in general or to Plum Market in specific) or fail to be sufficiently in-depth after all the direct and indirect quotes are removed.
- Comparatively few food chains of this size have received enough coverage to warrant an article. If it continues to grow it may get sufficient coverage in the future to then warrant a full article. Nosebagbear (talk) 22:36, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

00:35:19, 3 September 2019 review of draft by 2600:8802:6604:3FC4:9DAF:CCFE:C91F:F030
I am currently attempting to create a page for the protagonist of what is currently one of the biggest and most popular manga/anime series to date. However, as a non-experienced editor who doesn’t even have an account, I don’t know what exactly would count as notable. Additionally, while I do know many things about the series, I would not be able to add all the information that would fit in, as I do not know everything about Midoriya’s conception. Lastly, while I do enjoy editing on Wikipedia, I have many real-life problems that should be solved before I should focus on this article. Whoever does help with editing this draft, thank you in advance.

06:56:39, 3 September 2019 review of draft by Swakutty
Swakutty (talk) 06:56, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- Swakutty has a history of creating poorly sourced or unsourced articles in mainspace. These are then moved to draft space by other editors and Swakutty subsequently submits these articles for review without making any attempts to improve them. This is one such case. He submitted the review, only for another editor to warn him that he had been warned numerous times (mainly by me) about wasting the time of reviewers by persistently submitting and re-submitting unimproved drafts for review. He ignored that and resubmitted the article anyway, only a minute later. That article has now been reviewed and rejected, as was expected. --AussieLegend (✉) 10:50, 3 September 2019 (UTC)

Swakutty (talk) 12:13, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Swakutty: - the first two of your sources only link to the general site, they need the full URL in order to go to the article webpages. The third source is only a synopsis of the show. You really want to find 2 good quality reviews on reliable secondary sources. That's the quickest way to show TV show notability. Nosebagbear (talk) 13:44, 3 September 2019 (UTC)

17:20:07, 3 September 2019 review of submission by Catture
Hi there,
I hope you are well.
I have been trying to get this article over the line for the past year and have not succeeded yet. The page is for a British DJ called Ben Nicky. There are other DJs pages who have less information than I have submitted with live Wiki pages.
The last rejection stated "I could not find any significant coverage solely about the musician; all the coverage relates to the subject's work and related events."
The subjects work and related events is relevant to him as he is a worldwide known DJ.
Can you please advise what I can do to get this over the line? All sources I have linked to are from relevant websites to the field of work of a DJ.
Many thanks,
Cat Catture (talk) 17:20, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Catture: - there are indeed routes to notability for musicians based off their work, as well as direct coverage. They are however somewhat limited. The full set can be seen at Musician notability criteria. I might need to talk to someone about the differences between criteria 11 & 12 - depending on how criterion 12 is interpreted he might meet that (which would make it the first time I've ever used it). If you can find a better source that specifically talks about him touring as a single co-ordinated thing (rather than a couple of singular named events, and a throwaway line on airmiles) then he would also pass criterion 4 - requires a single good source on the tour. - Hi Rreynoldsat. Rejection is intended to be final, to convey that not only is the draft in its reviewed state unacceptable, but that no amount of editing will make it acceptable - that the topic is hopeless. I'm working on the Liz Lambert page and most of the citations are flagged in red with "Cite news requires |newspaper= " I looked to see what this means on the help link, but it was not much help in understanding how to fix the problem. Any advice on how to resolve this would be excellent.

Schughes2 (talk) 19:11, 3 September 2019 (UTC)

Lbrad75344 (talk) 01:40, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
Can podcast interviews be cited and used as references?
- @Lbrad75344: - interviews usually aren't suitable for sources anyway because they aren't independent (as functionally all the content is coming from the subject or a related subject)
- In terms of reliability, it could still struggle as it requires editorial control and I don't know if podcasts apply them. A case could be made for things like reliable organisations that also have podcasts Nosebagbear (talk) 09:38, 4 September 2019 (UTC)

ShreyasShimpi (talk) 10:52, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
- @ShreyasShimpi: - you can't just choose to use copyrighted text even if you're from that organisation and they want you to make it. All text in Wikipedia has to be given a very broad license, and we need evidence the copyright holder wants to give that license. Please bear in mind that would give everyone the right to use the copyrighted text how they wished - you can't just license it to Wikipedia.
- Please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials, and if you're planning on donating both photos and text, you'll need to read all of it. Nosebagbear (talk) 12:07, 4 September 2019 (UTC)

- The draft is stuffed with some of the most promotional trumpery I have ever come across in a draft article……“Selflessly, Keo has donated countless hours of time” “the honor of winning more than eight award” “homecoming queen, and prom queen, and was seen as a leader and do-gooder from a young age” “has accomplished more in her young life than most accomplish in a lifetime” “passionate about making positive impacts “ and far more. - Ellencooper (talk · contribs) (TB)
I am a writer, but not a coder! For this article, I wanted to create a section to cite books I consulted for the creation of this article, but I have formatted it incorrectly. The result is a citation has migrated into the body of the article text, and the "Resources" are in a contiguous block - hard to read! I do not know how to correct the formatting and am anxious to not lose the cited books text, so I have frozen like a deer in the headlights!
In addition, I have gotten Dr. Peter Cooke to give permission [Ticket#2019090410006677] to use a photo to attach to this article, and have asked him to identify the article to James Howes at Wikimedia; I should also have another photo of Linda Williamson permitted to the Commons by Peter Dibdin in a day or two. Can you tell me how I will be able to find those photos?
Ultimately, I wanted to create this article, so that I could link it in one about Duncan Williamson. It mentions Linda Headlee with a hyperlink that links to a page with no information. She has been an important figure in this little corner of song/story collecting.
Thank you for your help! Celia Ramsay (aka Ellen Cooper)
Ellencooper (talk) 19:10, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Ellencooper. I left a welcome basket of links on your talk page to help you get oriented. One of the links, Citing sources, leads to much useful information, including Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials describes how someone can license photos appropriately for Wikipedia. I don't know whether the images have already been published online, or what procedure the donors are choosing to follow, so you may need to coordinate with them to answer your question. Or you may be able to find the images on Wikimedia Commons by searching after the donors have uploaded them. The presence or absence of images in the draft will not affect whether it is accepted or not, so they should be your lowest priority. --Worldbruce (talk) 04:48, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

I believe I cited several high quality news organizations that included interviews with and about the Association. FinJournalist (talk) 19:41, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hi FinJournalist. The organization is not notable. The New York Times, The Washington Post, IPO-Edge, Newsweek, and The Real Deal contain passing mentions. The Palm Beach Post has fewer than 100 words about the organization. Financial Post is a reprint of The New York Times. StreetAuthority is authored by the organization's founder. Novice editors are commonly advised to cite at least three independent, reliable, secondary sources that contain significant coverage of their topic. The draft cites zero such sources. --Worldbruce (talk) 13:23, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

I have been trying to put an article together. It has the same links and facts that are published on other pages related to this one. I need help with this as I think I'm doing it correctly then it was declined again. I dont even understand how to reach the person that declined the submission to ask for help. Is there someone I can reach out to that can fix what is wrong? Thank you
TVaughanSoCal (talk) 20:35, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
- @TVaughanSoCal: - hi there. The reviewer can be seen at the bottom left of each red box. That will take you to their user page, and then you just need to click on Talk. For you, that is Liance's Talk Page
- If nothing else you need to learn how to do referencing. There's a written out guide at referencing for beginners. If you have a little time (c.65mins) then there's an interactive tutorial at the Wikipedia Adventure. It's a tad entertainingly cliche, but it has a much higher success rate at actually embedding knowledge than purely reading help pages. Nosebagbear (talk) 21:08, 4 September 2019 (UTC)

Jaws525 (talk) 23:48, 4 September 2019 (UTC) Hi, I just got the good news that my article on Pamela Longobardi was accepted. But I notice that the 2 photos I had in there were taken out. Why? One (the profile picture) came from Longobardi; the picture of Pam-with-Afghan-boy is a picture I took. Can I put them back? Jaws525 (talk) 23:48, 4 September 2019 (UTC)Jaws525
- Hi Jaws525. I don't see a time when the page had an image in the infobox. In any case, you may only use an image taken by Longobardi if (A) they upload the image to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons or (B) if they go through the process of Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The picture of of Pam with an Afghan boy was deleted, see the discussion at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Fig. 13 PamAfghaniBoy CampLesvos.tif. You should not put it back without adequately addressing the concerns that were raised. --Worldbruce (talk) 04:01, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

Hey, I was just wondering: even though I submitted my draft through AfC, I technically have the rights to just create an article outright. Would it be alright if I remove the Draft under AfC and just publish the page? I think I've found enough information for the moment (more can always be added in the future). HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 00:33, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hi HapHaxion. You are very strongly discouraged from bypassing AfC for pages, such as Draft:Victoria Barbara, with which you have a conflict of interest. Disregard the guideline at your peril. Another editor recently complained they didn't realize it meant the page would be deleted, which is what happened when they ignored the rule. --Worldbruce (talk) 03:43, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

- @Chintan Rishabh Jain:, it was reasonably rejected due to its advertorial nature. Things like your very first words being "BookMyShow has changed the face of Ticketing System", "The business thrived with no investors from 2002 to 2006" (which actually contradicts your challenges section, which also reads in a "challenges that we can show we faced really well". I am unsure why my sources are unreliable? The sources cite my name in every publication. The publications are some of the UKs largest newspapers?
Maccer123 (talk) 15:12, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Maccer123: - publications can be big without being reliable - tabloids are generally or completely unreliable (depending on circumstance and the specific tabloid).
- Currently you don't actually have any sources either, which is making it very hard to interpret them - you instead have a number of external links. Please have a read of referencing for beginners
- I turned one external link into an example of a reference - there are more and less complicated methods, I chose a fairly easily to duplicate format. One very quick lesson - you can link to other wikipedia articles just by putting them in <nowiki>Subject<nowiki> Nosebagbear (talk) 20:19, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

- @Vijethnbharadwaj: - it is an article. If you search it in Wikipedia you will find it. I don't know if you're asking why you can't find it on google. It's also been patrolled, so it's just waiting to be scraped by google's webspiders, which they'll do in the next couple of days. Nosebagbear (talk) 17:33, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

Dear Colleagues, I respect your experience and expertise, and yet I would like you to reconsider. The bilingual writer Olga Zilberbourg, who is only forty years old, has published 4 books in her native Russian and adopted English, has won awards, and has had her work published in major American literary magazines. I think it's important to recognize rising literary authors, and especially so when they are women and immigrants. Thank you for your attention.
Bibliograf (talk) 17:34, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Bibliograf: - it's possible the individual might be notable then, but you haven't included a single reference other than her own website. If you can find a couple of reliable, independent, in-depth reviews for one of her books, then she may be notable. Nosebagbear (talk) 20:21, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi. I am requesting a re-review of this as it's a misinterpretation that B-Reel is the "parent company" of B-Reel Films. B-Reel Films (BRF) is an independent film and production studio. B-Reel is a creative (advertising) agency. B-Reel is in no way involved in B-Reel Film's notable work like the film Midsommar, the documentary about Greta Thunberg and the Alicia Vikander feature film Euphoria. Those are B-Reel Films (BRF) productions.
Wikipedia allows separate articles for advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi and M&C Saatchi, even though they are intricately linked. B-Reel and B-Reel Films (BRF) are similarly separate entities. With world famous productions like those aforementioned, it is surprising why B-Reel Films (BRF) would not be considered notable.

May i ask you why you decide that page is advertisement? I want only inform about company here based on other services here like: monday.com trello etc. what is difference ? and why monday and trello are ok ?
Sajacz (talk) 07:01, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Sajacz: - so it was rejected on notability grounds because the only source it had came from the company itself. It also has a marketing tone, "Thanks to this overview", "saving you both time and work" etc. Normally I'd refer you to WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, which explains why you can't use one source being allowed/disallowed to justify another. However, Trello has over a dozen sources and is laid out neutrally. Nosebagbear (talk) 13:58, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi! My draft is declined due to being "not properly referenced by independent sources". I did add references, but they're all in the Ukrainian language. Am I only allowed to reference English-language sources when the Wiki article is in English? I was just trying to create an English copy of the existing article about a music band in Ukraine. Thanks for any tips! Purple anka (talk) 07:44, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Purple anka: - hi there. Ukrainian (or Russia etc) sources are fine - google translate does a reasonable job these days. Running through the sources, they generally aren't sufficient to prove notability for two reasons. Some aren't independent, as they are either directly from the band, or are interviews (where all the answers come from the band). Others aren't really in depth, with only a couple of lines on Karna. Hello, I have been advised that the multiple references for the draft article do not meet the criteria for notability. This is quite confusing, as the following references are multiple, and apparently meet the defined criteria for significant coverage in independent, reliable and secondary sources. Please see below:
1. Coverage in BloombergQuint.com, a prominent financial news portal formed as partnership between Bloomberg and Quintillion media (reference: https://www.bloomberg.com/company/press/bloomberg-forms-new-partnership-with-quintillion-media-in-india/). Coverage link: https://www.bloombergquint.com/business/startup-street-this-startup-says-it-can-nearly-wipe-out-your-electricity-bill
2. Coverage in ETEnergyworld.com, a part of The Economic Times, India's largest English financial daily, that focuses on energy news. Coverage link: https://energy.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/renewable/we-will-achieve-rs-100-cr-annual-revenue-this-financial-year-pranesh-chaudhary-founder-zunroof/70024921
3. Coverage in The Hindu Businessline, a leading, highly-credible financial daily in India. Coverage link: https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/specials/clean-tech/lighting-up-your-home-right-from-the-roof/article27198508.ece
4. Coverage in CNBC-TV18, a leading financial news channel (an India-specific venture of CNBC), link: https://www.cnbctv18.com/young-turks/young-turks-troubled-with-high-electricity-bills-heres-how-zunroof-can-solve-your-problems-3828671.htm
5. Coverage in Moneycontrol.com, a prominent financial and business news portal owned by Network 18, a leading media company of India. Link: https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/this-startups-solar-power-solutions-is-making-indian-homes-green-and-future-ready-3971841.html
I feel that Zunroof meets the criteria for notability - however I am happy to take feedback from other editors.
