KSK grain terminal is a container terminal of Novorossiysk Sea Port for grain, ro/ro and general cargo. It was launched in 2006 as a subsidiary of Russian stevedoring holding DeloPorts.[1]
History
The terminal “Kombinat Stroikomplekt” (since April 2014 known as KSK) was launched in 2006.[2] It occupied 7 hectares of same name enterprise: a former “Stroydetal” factory of “Novorossiyskmorstroy”, managed by the Mintransstroy (the USSR Department of Transport Construction). The facility was equipped with sheltered warehouses, parking lots and four III-class berths.[3]
The proprietary (Delo Group) initiated a reconstruction in 2007. The project included the construction of a new terminal elevator of 120,000 capacity, a new rail line and a berth for handling vessels up to 30,000 ton displacement. The required investments of 1.5 billion roubles were credited by Sberbank.[4][5]. The first stage of the project was finished in 2012, expanding the terminal capacity up to 2 mln ton of grain per year, upon completion of the second stage it grew to 3.5 mln ton.[6]
In 2013 the biggest automotive logistics complex in the Russian Black Sea basin was open at the KSK. With a modern custom ro/ro berth and storage facilities for 1,500 cars it is capable to handle 50,000 cars per year.[7] By 2018 KSK expanded covering 12 hectare with 5 berths ranging from 4.5 to 12.4 m depth.[8] In November 2018 the Directorate-General of State Expertise approved the KSK modernisation project for years 2019—2020, increasing the grain storage capacity to 218,000 ton. The project includes construction of new roads and railroads, grain receivers, berths for small size river vessels. Another new deepwater berth with the depth of 16,9 m will allow KSK to serve calls for post-Panamax ocean vessels of 100,000 ton and more, thus expanding the export to Southeast Asian countries. The reconstruction is expected to increase KSK capacity from 4.5 to 6 mln ton, the expenditures are estimated at 3.7 billion roubles.[9][10]
Cargo Turnover
In 2016 the company estimated its presence at the Azov and Black Sea basin market in 26% (grain exports at deepwater terminals), reaching 10% of the total Russian export[11]. Main delivery destinations are the Persian Gulf, Africa and Latin America[12].

Proprietors and Management
Up to 2013 Delo Group was the sole owner of KSK grain terminal. The same year group’s stevedoring assets were structured and merged into ‘DeloPorts’ holding. In late 2013 Delo sold 25% + 1 share in KSK to Cargill (an American food company, one of the KSK key customers), which accounted for 20% of the terminal’s revenue. As a result, Cargill acquired the blocking share holding and a seat in the KSK executive board.[5]
Financials
In 2017 the company estimated revenue amounted 4.154 bln roubles, while EBITDA reached 4.58 billion.[16] The consolidated revenue for DeloPorts group equaled 11.9 bln roubles (up 35.6% from 2017), the consolidated EBITDA totaled 8.781 bln (up 44.4% from 2017).[17]
