is there any way to put two or more links on one tab, using the standard template for tab headers, {{start tab}}? Here is one example of this template: User:Sm8900/tab header.

@Sm8900: This can be done on tab n with freeform-n = yes. Here is an example to add a tab 9 with two links on separate lines:

| freeform-9          = yes
| link-9              = User:Sm8900/user boxes
| link2-9             = User:Sm8900/Awards and recognition
| tab-9               = [[User:Sm8900/user boxes|User boxes]]<br />[[User:Sm8900/Awards and recognition|Awards]]

When freeform-9 = yes, tab-9 can be anything to place on the tab. The only purpose of link-9 and link2-9 is to determine when the tab will be styled differently to indicate you are on one of the pages. link-9 and link2-9 are not used to make links when freeform-9 = yes. Infobox image syntax

Hi,

I am trying to add an image to the typebox of the page "Tommy Nelson (Actor)" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Nelson_(actor) but it has my caption on the side of the image instead of below. Could someone please fix it and let me know what I did wrong so I can correct it myself if this were to happen again? Thank you.

AFC Submission codes

Where is the full documentation for {{AFC submission}}, for example, explaining how to generate and interpret cv-cleaned| u=... |ns=... , and where is the wiki markup generated by these parameters stored, so I can de-lint it or at least request others to de-lint it? —Anomalocaris (talk) 08:20, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

@Anomalocaris: cv-cleaned means copyright violation cleaned up. It's made manually. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Reviewing instructions#Step 1: Quick-fail criteria. Expand the box and then expand "Copyright cleanup instructions". The text produced by this and many of the other parameters is in {{AFC submission/comments}}. | u=... |ns=... is the submitting username and the namespace number, added automatically by {{subst:submit}}. I don't know whether it's documented. If you say the linter issue then maybe we can give better help. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:56, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

IP user creating "articles" on Redirect pages

As far as I know, unregistered users can only start a new page with AfC. However, this IP (47.147.132.20) seems to be creating articles on redirect pages (like this).

I'm not really sure what the protocol would be here (IPs can't/shouldn't start articles on redirect pages, right?), and I was going to leave a message on their talk page. Should I just rollback their edits and leave them a message that they can retrieve their text from the edit history, and that in the future, they need to go through AfC to create an article unless they're a registered user? Is there a different action I should take instead? They have multiple "articles" they've already started to create on redirect pages. - Whisperjanes (talk) 05:40, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

FWIW the Wiki F1 project had a similar problem with a dynamic IP user with over 250 addresses by the time they'd finished. Where notability was achieved we would 'fettle up' the articles but if not (99% of the time) then we'd restore the redirect and leave hidden advice to not start a page at the location without beginning a discussion at the relevant project TP. 'ANI' weren't interested in someone starting sub-standard articles (their editing skills were low at best) however disruptive they were overall. It took 2 years before they tripped themselves up and were blocked. There seems little to stop IPs doing this and / or requesting a redirect and then creating an article. If you are referring to an article about you(Wikipedia does not have "profiles"), it's hard to help without knowing what the article is. There are no other edits from your IP other than the above, if you have an account, please log in before posting. Without knowing the article, I can only say that article subjects should not directly edit the article about themselves, but they may propose changes on the article talk page as formal edit requests. You may not publish your profile on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an encyclopdia, it does not accept profiles. You can use a site such as Facebook, where user profiles are welcome. Maproom (talk) 16:53, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello, IP user. Wikipedia, being an encyclopaedia which has well-sourced articles on notable subjects, is not a good resource as a buyers guide. Hello, Sukant9993. Did you think that by asking that disingenuous question nobody would notice that you are asking about an article that you yourself created two days ago? Manoj Sarkar is an example of exactly why new articles are not indexed by the (utterly irrelevant to Wikipedia) search engines until they have been reviewed by a new pages patroller. He may well be notable, and the if so the article could be made acceptable if it cited some significant sources: if you had created it as a draft, and submitted it for review, I believe it would have been declined, and somebody would have advised you how to bring it to an acceptable level. But at present it is one of the many thousands of substandard articles which beset Wikipedia.

Rather than worrying about google search, I suggest you spend some time finding some reliably published independent sources which have substantial coverage of Sarkar, without which his notability is not established, and the article is likely to get deleted. --ColinFine (talk) 13:28, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Database error message

My user name is User:Ltwin, but I couldn't edit without signing out. A few minutes ago while logged in and clicked on some articles on my watch list. Instead of seeing the articles, I only saw this error message reproduced below:

Thomas Apple was deleted as the result of an unchallenged proposed deletion, with lacking notability as the reason. Looking at the deleted text, only one source was offered to support its content. You can see the page on the Internet Archive. If you want the Wikitext, you can request that it be e-mailed to you, although don't post your e-mail address directly on Wikipedia unless you're fine with the whole world knowing it and sending you spam. You may also request it be undeleted if you intend to improve it, but before you do, please ensure you thoroughly understand Wikipedia's notability policy or it will just be deleted again. No interlanguage links for Help Desk?

I just noticed that the section in the left pane that normally links to pages in other languages is empty for the Help Desk. I seem to recall that it was populated at one point. The minor edit flag is set by the software not you. That's because rollback is meant to be used on clear-cut vandalism cases where usage of minoredit flag is also appropriate. The revert being complained on your talkpage was not vandalism and so you should have used other means. – Ammarpad (talk) 06:00, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

You used the rollback function, which is only supposed to be used on clear-cut vandalism. If it's not vandalism, use a different means of reverting, although depending on circumstances it might be better to discuss the edit with the editor first. You don't need to be logged-in to use the Wikipedia app, and using it doesn't automatically create an account. Just saying, that might not mean you had an account. If you did have an account and you linked it to an e-mail address, you can get access to it as stated above; you will need access to the e-mail account, of course. If you recover that account but decide you like your current username better, no problem! Ask us and we'll tell you how to change your username.

You can't directly edit a semi-protected page currently, because your account is brand-new. But, you can request a change and someone will review your request. Hit "View source" on the page in question, and you should see a blue button near the top labelled "Submit an edit request". Follow that and you can enter your request. No "bookmark" feature on the web

On the android mobile app, I saved some articles. The are in what appears to be called my "reading list." The app provides an easy way to access my reading list by a small symbol in the lower left which looks like a bookmark. When viewing Wikipedia on a web browser, I don't see this "bookmark" or any way to access my reading list. Promote draft article to namespace

I have previously created several articles in the main namespace and have been editing for quite a while now so have a fairly good idea of what is required, but am not an official page reviewer. Recently I have twice come across draft articles for new articles which I was going to create, and copyedited one and fairly extensively edited another (still a WIP, but not too far off good enough now). I can't seem to find a guide or direction on how to move the draft page into namespace, without going through an assessment process, which I don't think is necessary and which will cause unnecessary delays. Do I just do a straightforward page move, or is there a different process for drafts? The article in question is Draft:Vincent Namatjira. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:41, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

Since you already created some articles, you can do a straightforward page move, but if you are unsure whether the page would survive an WP:AFD its probably better to use the review process. Go to Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Within it, you'll see a blue button, "Click here to start a new article". Below this blue button, you'll see "Here are some things you should have in mind". Hello, Lee. The reply from 119.245 might sound flippant or unhelpful, but it is really the truth. Wikipedia is not for advertising or promoting anything - a company, an artist, a band, a charity - anything. It is an encyclopaedia, which contains neutrally written articles on notable subjects. If at some point Wikipedia has an article on your company, it will not be your article, it will be based not on what you say, but on what people who have no connection with your company have chosen to publish about it, and you will have no control over the contents. Oldest people article

I follow the "Oldest People" article because it is interesting to me.

I notice that the tenth oldest man in the world, "Hyppolyte Cadou," is still listed as the tenth oldest living man, even though the Wikipedia "Supercentenarians who died in 2020" article lists him as having died around March 11. Another Googleable article describes in French his March 14 funeral. I tried to bring this information to the person who controls the "Oldest People" article, but I must not know the proper way to do that, because the information has been ignored. Nobody "controls" any Wikipedia article. see WP:OWN. You are free to edit that article yourself. If you are uncomfortable with this, add a new section on the article's talk page, with your references. A couple of years ago, I became aware that there was a reference article, not contributed by myself, describing my original 'Jacobson Flare', the World's first and only universal, quantifiable, consistent, safest and unassailable aeroplane/airplane approach and landing training technique. Some time later, I was aware of on-line comment or comments, disparaging this technique, made by a person or persons unknown to me, clearly with no knowledge of the technique, but with some sort of grudge against me, personally. Some time after that, the article describing the Jacobson Flare was removed from Wikipedia, with no effort made to contact me for comment or further information. (I'm not that hard to find!) I MAY wish to contribute a new article – as the researcher/developer/director, but I will NOT do so if mere personal issues or whims can result in an article relating to a ground-breaking technique (based on facts, logic and some lateral thinking) being torn down, with no recourse to its owner/developer. The Jacobson Flare, conceived in 1965 (at the beginning of my 50+ year flying career in civil aviation) and developed from 1985 onwards is a proven landing training technique that needs no validation from armchair experts. My website, www.jacobsonflare.com has much further information, including its history, pilot testimonials and more. Briefly, the technique defines a pilot 'eye path', from final approach to touchdown, using among other things, the application of simple triangulation to FIX the flare initiation point, rather than relying on an 'educated' guess of physical height above the runway or other landing surface. It provides factual answers (found NOWHERE ELSE) to the following questions: Where to aim? How to aim? When to commence the flare? How mucho flare? and How fast to flare? I would be willing to bet money that Wikipedia's servers have antimalware software running so that this site is safe. That would mean Wikipedia is virus free in that you're not getting anything from the site. If you're getting something from checking a source, you're getting it from the source's site, not Wikipedia. @Reciprocater: When you click on an external link, you are commanding the browser software on your computer to connect directly to the web server computer named in that external link. The Wikipedia servers are not informed of this action and cannot interpose themselves between your browser and that server. It is up to you to ensure that the web browser on you computer can defend itself. @Reciprocater: As to actively checking external links when an editor adds one, while this might be possible, it is of limited use, because an external web server may be maliciously compromised some time after the link is added. Worse, URLs (i.e., web server names) can change hands and the new owner might not be a nice person. Finally, there are methods that allow evildoers to hijack a web connection somewhere between you and a perfectly innocent web server, so your connection does not go to the web server you are trying to reach. IP user seemingly evading block

Hi. Recently 86.150.157.82 (talk · contribs) was blocked for disruptive behaviour on reality show articles, including changing colours unnecessarily, making inconsistent changes to results tables, etc. Now 86.170.140.177 (talk · contribs) is doing the same thing, which, per WP:DUCK, makes me think that it's the same person evading the block. I've previously reported such a case to WP:SPI, but was told that that was inappropriate when there was no registered user account present. What's the right course of action here? Thanks. Statistics about Commons

I'm looking for some statistics about Wikimedia Commons for an article in a professional periodical. I'm wondering how I can find statistics on the number of pictures by big subject (for example: nature, animals, people, monuments, art pieces...). I'm also looking for statitics by epoch or by decade. I imagine that the pictures taken by digital cameras represent a huge part of the pictures, that means that the last 15-20 years are over-represented in Wikimedia Commons. It would be easy enough to have a script count all items in (e.g.) Commons:Category:Buildings plus all its subcategories, but it would take so much time eliminating false-positives that it would probably not be worthwhile. For example, we have the direct category line Commons:Category:Buildings→Commons:Category:Buildings by function‎→Commons:Category:Education buildings‎→Commons:Category:Education buildings by country‎→Commons:Category:Education buildings in the United Kingdom‎→Commons:Category:Education buildings in Wales‎→Commons:Category:Universities and colleges in Wales‎→Commons:Category:Aberystwyth University‎→Commons:Category:Alumni of Aberystwyth University‎→Commons:Category:Charles, Prince of Wales‎, meaning that as far as any count is concerned Prince Charles is classified as a building; multiply that by (literally) millions of images to get an idea of how inaccurate any kind of count is going to be. As anyone who's tried to search Bing or Google Images by keyword can testify, even corporations that can afford to throw billions of dollars at the problem struggle with classifying images.

I know there's ongoing work on Commons to try to categorise all their images by date, but only a microscopic number of their images have been categorised so far. "Date of creation" isn't a particularly useful metric; if an artwork is painted in 1910, professionally scanned in 2005, made available on a free-use database like ArtUK in 2010, and copied to Commons in 2020, which of the four dates is the "creation date"? ‑ Iridescent 19:58, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

WOHA-FM

I really don't understand why although this an article of an FM station that was purchased by Holy Family Radio from Ohio Northern University with a callsign change...why do you want to delete this??? I spent some extra time late last night gathering information for the External links section..some of it refers to the soon to be defunct on-air station WONB to become WOHA. The power output and frequency remains the same...and I am awaiting some new info from the FCC link for the callsign switch from WONB to WOHA. AS THE ARTICLE STATES...WONB HAS BEEN SOLD to the new owners, that being Holy Family Communications as of December of 2019. Station manager Jeff Compton informed me by email a month ago that the FCC has approved the transaction....so in the meantime WONB continues to broadcast on the air until Holy Family Communications takes over the station sometime this month. According to a telephone conversation I had with Mr. Compton nearly a week ago, he informed me that Holy Family Radio programming on 94.9 (the soon to be defunct WONB..which will switchover to webcasting) will comnmence on Monday April 20, of 2020 as WOHA.

Go to your preferences - notifications - cross-wiki notifications, and uncheck the box. There's something that can cause your account to appear on a bunch of other-language wikipedias all at once, you get several notifications, and it shouldn't generally happen again. Compliant against local GP & Medical staff at North Tees Hospital.

As I am an 80% disabled veteran, I know that I should receive preferential treatment from my GP as well as medical services at North Tees. I don't and I've tried and failed to contact via email, the Deputy Director for Medical Services in order to make a full compliant with regards to what my problem IS! In the main the problem IS that both my feet - ankles - lower legs are very swollen, sore a have spots. Every medic that I've been to or have come to my home, places the bliam on my being a type2 Diabetic? I've had me heart checked around about 5 times and no fault found. I spent 9.5 months on water tablets and all that occurred was me having to pee every 30 minutes and my legs remained swollen and painful. So my GP sent me too the Lower Limb Specialist, who lost his rag and wrote to my GP setting out his anger and pointing out that the problem that I had was in fact the realm of the Lymphoedema Specialist Service! So I received a letter from this service to arrange a home appointment. The nurse was supposed to arrive at 1145am but did not arrive till 1205pm. The letter also stated that she would be here for 1hour and 30 mins. She left telling me that there was 'NOTHING' she could do for me and inferred that the cause was, yet again:- 'TYPE 2 DIABETEES'.???????? sincerely:- RedDog -- RedDog338 (talk) 17:03, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

WillnerM21, Ah, well the issue is that you haven't actually submitted it (and by it I assume you mean User:WillnerM21/sandbox) to the review process. Currently its just a page sitting in your sandbox, until you put a review header on it. I have gone ahead and done that for you. But I will note that the page definitely doesn't meet our standards yet. It needs citations from independent sources, not the group itself. Spotify doesn't count as a source either. And it reads like an advertisement. We are an encyclopedia, not a yellowpages. Also, if you have any affiliation with the subject, you need to disclose that by reading the rules at WP:COI. WillnerM21 Another way of looking at this is that almost the entire article is about the people in the group and nothing at all that the media has written about what the company does. If you can find some media coverage of the work, or profiles of the group, then there's hope for an article. If it's just a lot of bios listed one after the other, then you should instead look at doing individual articles about the partners instead of the group. Adding a name to Wikipedia

Hi I am trying to add a Film Producer for a movie on Wikipedia but not able to. His name appears as a producer for a movie, but he doesn't have his own page. How can a page be created?
