Development

In March 2017, Joss Whedon was hired to write, direct and produce a film centered around Barbara Gordon / Batgirl.[1] Whedon was to begin production on the film in 2018,[2] but stepped down in February.[3] In April, after impressing Warner Bros. with her work on Birds of Prey, Christina Hodson was hired as screenwriter for Batgirl.[4] Warner Bros. is looking for a female director to replace Whedon.[5]. In June 2020, Michael Keaton was in talks to reprise his role as Batman from the Tim Burton films, which included a appearance in Batgirl.
