Bai Jingting (Chinese: 白敬亭, born October 15, 1993) is a Chinese actor and singer. He is best known for his series Back in Time, The Whirlwind Girl, Rush To The Dead Summer, You Are My Hero, Reset, New Life Begins and Destined, New Life Begins and for the film Yesterday Once More. In 2019, Forbes China listed Bai under "30 Under 30 Asia" category, which consisted of 30 influential people under 30 years old who have made substantial contributions in the professional fields.[1] In 2019, Bai's officially unveiled personal wax figure in Madame Tussauds Beijing, China.[2] He features regularly in Forbes China Celebrity 100 list.[3][4]

Early life and education

Bai was born in Huairou district, Beijing, China. At the early age, he started learning several musical instruments and joined piano classes. He did his high school from Hongluosi Middle School, where he mainly focused on sports and music. He studied at Capital Normal University's Music College, majoring in Recording.[5] In 2014 during the academic year, he began his acting career.

Career

2014-2015: Beginnings

In 2014, Bai made his debut in the youth based web drama Back in Time, adaptation of the novel Cong Cong Na Nian by Chinese writer Jiu Yehui.[6] In 2015, he gained recognition for his performance as "Yu Chuyuan" in The Whirlwind Girl, a youth sports based on the novel of the same name by Ming Xiaoxi.[7]

In 2016, he made debut in the youth romance film Yesterday Once More, which exceeded ¥ 100M within three days of its release.[8] He gained popularity through the variety show in Who's the Murderer.[9] In 2017, he starred in the youth melodrama Rush to the Dead Summer[10] and in historical drama The Rise of Phoenixes.[11]

2018-2023: Breakthrough

In 2018, Bai was cast in the romance drama Irreplaceable Love. This marks his first television leading role.[12] In 2020, he was cast as the supporting role, in the Chinese remake of South Korean television series Misaeng, titled Ordinary Glory.[13] His series Target Person gained 8.7 points in Douban score and 9.3 the Zhihu score.[14]

In 2021, he starred in the sports drama Ping Pong as a table tennis player.[15] He also starred in the military romance drama You Are My Hero as a police officer,[16] which ranked 1st and gained over 150M views within a week.[17][18]

In 2022, Bai starred in Reset as "Xiao Heyun", trapped in a time loop.[19] It was a huge success, which earned him 1st rank in the "Character Index List" in drama category.[20] In 2023, he starred in the costume drama "Destined" gaining positive response. It became fastest drama on iQiyi to reach the 10,000 popularity mark.[21] His series New Life Begins and Always On The Move both were internationally successful. His upcoming series is The First Frost, adapted from the romantic novel of the same name by the writer Zhu Yi.[22]

Business venture

In 2017, Bai Jingting established "Beijing Leben Film & Television Culture Media Co. Ltd", and involved in the production of many TV series. In 2021, Bai along with designer Shangguan Zhe launched a joint merchandise "Good Bai", and shoes ZE by Sankuanz.[23]

Musical career

Bai sung OST for his series during his early years of his career. In May 2021, he released his first solo single "ZERO" on " Happy Camp" and NetEase Cloud Music, where he composed the lyrics.[24][25]

Endorsement

Bai is the face of many national and international brands. He is named the global Brand ambassador for Fragrance Versace, Montblanc Eyewear, Cartier, Tom Ford Fragrance, HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts and RedBMX, China.[26][27][28] He is eminent figure in the fashion world and gets featured regularly on Vogue, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, L'Officiel Hommes, Esquire, Dazed, Marie Claire, Uno China, Lion Magazine, Cosmopolitan, T China, NY Times, and other elite national and international magazines.[29][30][31][32] In 2021, he became spokesperson for L'Occitane in China, presented skincare products in his first campaign with the French brand for the Asia Pacific region.[33]

Personal life

Bai's lifestyle includes basketball and field athletics.[34] By August 2023, he has over 3.1M in Instagram and over 36M in Weibo.[35] He was named the 2022 "People Face of the Year".
