Electric Mob[1][2] is a rock 'n' roll and hard rock band formed in Curitiba, Paraná, in 2016. The group is composed of Renan Zonta (vocals), Ben Hur Auwarter (guitar), and Mateus Cestaro (drums). Electric Mob stands out for blending elements of rock from the 1970s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s, creating a heavy sound with striking riffs and powerful vocals.
History
[edit]Formation and Early Years
[edit]Electric Mob was founded in 2016, with Renan Zonta (vocals), Ben Hur Auwarter (guitar), Yuri Elero (bass), and André Leister (drums) in the original lineup. Vocalist Renan Zonta participated in *The Voice Brazil* in 2016, which helped bring more attention to the band, returning to the show in 2023 for another performance. The band quickly gained prominence in the local music scene with energetic performances and a fusion of classic hard rock groove with a modern touch. In 2017, Electric Mob released their first EP, *Leave A Scar*, which was well-received by critics and paved the way for their future releases.
Signing with Frontiers Music and "Discharge" (2020)
[edit]In 2019, Electric Mob signed a deal with Italian label Frontiers Music, known for working with major rock acts worldwide. The following year, in 2020, the band released their debut full-length album, *Discharge*.[3][4][5][6][7] The album garnered over 4 million streams on Spotify and gained attention on U.S. radio stations, where the song "Devil You Know" remained on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Indicator Chart for 14 consecutive weeks, reaching the 22nd position.
Discharge Tour 2022
[edit]Following the global success of their debut album *Discharge* (2020), Electric Mob embarked on the long-awaited tour[8] to promote the album, delayed since 2020 due to social restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour[9] included several cities in Brazil. Tracks like "Devil You Know," "Your Ghost," and "Higher Than Your Heels" were performed live for the first time, captivating audiences and solidifying the band's presence in the national scene.
Lineup Changes and Second Album "2 Make U Cry & Dance" (2023)
[edit]The year 2023 marked the departure of drummer André Leister shortly after the recordings for the band's second studio album. His departure was motivated by his inability to keep up with the band's rehearsal and tour schedule due to his relocation to Rio de Janeiro. Mateus Cestaro was announced as his replacement and made his debut with the band at the "Angra Fest" in Curitiba, alongside Viper, Matanza Ritual, and Angra. In January, Electric Mob released their second album, *2 Make U Cry & Dance*,[10][11][12][13][14][15] via Frontiers Music. The album reinforced the band's heavy sound and showcased a natural evolution in their compositions. The release was followed by a Brazilian tour, covering 12 cities across 6 states.
Summer Breeze Brazil and Tour with Project46
[edit]Later in 2023, Electric Mob embarked on a tour[16][17] across Brazil alongside nationally renowned metal band Project46. The tour, titled "Terra de Ninguém Tour," visited 17 states and the Federal District, with Electric Mob and Odeon appearing in most dates. In 2024, Electric Mob was part of the lineup for Latin America's largest rock and metal festival, Summer Breeze Open Air Brazil[18][19] (now called Bangers Open Air[20]), sharing the stage with major national and international acts.
Yuri Elero's Departure
[edit]In May 2024, bassist Yuri Elero announced his departure from Electric Mob after years of contributions. In an official statement, the band said: "Over the years, we built dreams, reached unimaginable places, and nurtured love for one another in what sustains this band. We did something beautiful, and we love you, Yuri." The band stated in interviews that Yuri's departure was due to personal reasons.
Renan Zonta's Participation in The Voice Brazil
[edit]Renan Zonta[21] participated in the TV show *The Voice Brazil*[22] in 2016, gaining notoriety for his remarkable vocal performance. The experience on the reality show helped increase visibility for his work, both as a solo artist and as the frontman of the band. In 2023, Zonta returned to the program, solidifying his presence as one of the leading vocalists in contemporary Brazilian rock.

[edit]In addition to his work with Electric Mob, Renan Zonta was part of the international project *Skills*,[23] promoted by the record label Frontiers Records. The initiative brought together renowned musicians under the direction of Italian producer Alessandro Del Vecchio. In the lineup, Zonta shared the stage with artists such as guitarist Brad Gillis (*Night Ranger*, *Ozzy Osbourne*), bassist Billy Sheehan (*Mr. Big*, *Sons of Apollo*), and drummer David Huff (*Giant*), with Del Vecchio on keyboards. The band *Skills* combined the musical expertise of its members to explore a melodic hard rock sound.[24]
