Sailing Career
[edit]Ewa started her sailing career in the younger junior class - in the Optimist boat. It was already on this boat that Ewa achieved outstanding results in competition in Poland and internationally. As an 11-year-old, she won a trip to the European Championships in Burgas. Her most important achievements in the younger junior class were:
- 4th place in the girls' classification at the World Championships, Riva del Garda, Italy, 2021
- Bronze medal at the European Championships, Portorož, Slovenia, 2020
- Silver medal at the Team European Championships, Ledro, Italy, 2019
- 3-time medalist at the Polish Championships (1st place in 2021, 2nd place in 2020, 3rd place in 2019)
- 4-time consecutive gold medalist at the Polish Sprint Championships (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021).
For her achievements in 2020, especially for the bronze medal at the 2020 European Championships in the Optimist class, she received the title "POMORSKI ŻEGLARSKI TALENT ROKU 2020" (Pomeranian Sailing Talent of the Year 2020). For her achievements in 2021, especially for the 4th place in the women's category at the 2021 World Championships in Italy in the Optimist class, Ewa Lewandowska was nominated (as a 15-year-old) for the title "POMORSKA ŻEGLARKA ROKU 2021" (Pomeranian Sailor of the Year 2021). For over 10 years, no Polish competitor has achieved such a high place at the Optimist Junior World Championships. Since 2020, Ewa Lewandowska has also started sailing in the two-person 420 class. In the same year, she won 1st place at the Polish Sprint Championships for under 17s. Other important achievements in this class include:
- 2nd place at the Eastern European Championships, women's under 17 classification, Giżycko, 2021
- 4-time medalist at the Polish Championships (1st place U17 Women, 2nd place U17 and 3rd place Open
2021, 3rd place Women 2022)
- 1st place at the Polish Cup Open, 2022.
Since September 2022, Ewa Lewandowska and Julia Żmudzińska have started sailing on the fast two-person 29er boat. It was on this boat that Ewa Lewandowska could demonstrate talent in excellent boat handling, knowledge, tactical experience, and achieved very high positions in national and international competition in 2023:
- Silver medal in the open/mix category at the World Championships in Weymouth (1st place under 19s in this category),
10th place in the overall classification (out of 204 crews), including 7th place under 19s,
- 3rd place in the women's under 19 category at the European Championships in Stockholm (5th place in
the women's overall classification).
- 1st place Open at the EuroCup Regatta, Koper, Slovenia (importantly - for 10 years no female crew has won a gold medal
in the overall classification in the EuroCup 29er series)
- 4th place Open at the Kieler Woche Regatta (in the entire history of the Polish 29er, no Polish crew has achieved
such a result) This year, the most important goal for Ewa is the Youth Sailing World Championship, December 2023, Brazil.
