History

[edit]

It is presently unclear how the Kurds arrived in Sudan. Historically Kurds didnt exist in the area before the Ayyubid dynasty. The prevailing belief is that they either migrated southward from Egypt during the reign of Saladin and/or during the period of Ottoman rule. Additionally, it is plausible that a significant number of Syrian Kurds sought refuge in Sudan as a result of the Syrian civil war.
