Les Misérables: The Arena Spectacular

Les Misérables: The Arena Spectacular is a world tour of the famous French musical Les Misérables. The tour started in Belfast Ireland on September 19th 2024. The tour will visit 15 countries[1] including United Kingdom, Italy, Taiwan, Australia, and beyond. The tour has a cast and orchestra of over 65. The tour is currently booking until approximately the end of 2025 with performances in Shanghai China at the Shanghai Grand Theater until December 28th 2025

Synopsis

Les Misérables is set in France during a revolutionary period. the main character, Jean Valjean, starts imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread for his sister's child. he is released on parole but after an act of mercy from a bishop, Valjean decides to break his parole and start on a path of redemption and righteousness. He becomes wealthy and disguises himself as the mayor of a village. Valjean then adopts the child of a single mother named Fantine due to her death. the child, Cosette, was kept with the Thénardier's, a husband and wife who run an inn. Paris is then swept into a revolutionary period due to some students attempting to overthrow the government. before and during this revolution a police inspector names Javert makes it his personal goal and quest to find and jail Valjean again.[2]

Set Design

The set design for the arena spectacular is very reminiscent of the other concert productions of Les Misérables. the set includes stationary microphones, a barricade inspired set, movable light trusses, an on stage orchestra, a center entry for cast members, video screens, and more.
