Manoj Kumar Sah is a Nepalese politician. He is the current mayor of Janakpurdham. He has represented Janakpurdham internationally in various events including Janakpurdham Cultural Festival, where he played a significant role in developing diplomatic relations with India.[1][2][3][4]
Political Career
[edit]Manoj Kumar Sah is local level politician. He is currently City Chief (Mayor) of Janakpurdham. He has said to be focused on waste management and development of underdeveloped areas in Janakpurdham and preserving cultural heritages.
Expert says after his tenure as Mayor, his leadership has focused on development of public services and cultural revival.[5][6]
His key initiatives includes waste management. He has improved waste management systems, including waste segregation initiatives.[7]
He has also prioritized Mithila Culture as Janakpurdham is hub of Mithila. He has organized cultural events such as the Janakpurdham Cultural Festival and Mahotsavs.[8]
He has also done some significant infrastructure development such as development in roads, public spaces and transportation. The inauguration of Janakpur-Jaynagar Railway have been important.[9]
Despite his effort, he has failed in ensuring and management of resources, addressing issues like poverty and urban sprawl.[10]
Controversies

[edit]While Manoj Sah has worked towards waste management and infrastructure, people and journalists still criticize him for poor waste management and infrastructure development. People allege that Janakpurdham Sub Metropolitan City does not send its garbage vehicle to collect garbage, does not put dustbin all over city and delayed or less infrastructure development projects.[11]
Resource Allocation and Delayed Projects
[edit]There has been significant debate that how resources are allocated. Critics alleges that he has been focusing more on cultural heritages rather than focusing on core issues like education and healthcare. Critics have suggested that the focus on cultural or religious projects sometimes overshadows other necessary development projects. Critics also criticize him by quoting years old projects that has been partially done and then abandoned.[10]
