Radio station 2JJ, known as DoubleJay and later to evolve in to Radio 2JJJ, celebrates the 50th anniversary of its inaugural broadcast in February 2025.

DoubleJay was a project of ABC Radio, which wanted to create a youth-oriented station to add to its public radio network.

One of the driving forces in the creation of DoubleJay was Marius Webb, along with Ron Moss and Chris Winter. They were determined to take a radical approach from the beginning, hiring staff - including presenters - who had little or no radio background but who they felt would resonate with the target audience.

Marius Webb went on to work ABC Radio until 1992, with his career perhaps best summed up on the one hand as a "radio icon" by former Director of ABC Radio, Malcolm Long, and "a complete pest" by the then ABC Managing Director, Talbot Duckmanton.

Webb lived in Italy for many years, returning to Australia in 2024.
