Morattico Baptist Church was a pioneering Baptist church established near Morattico, Virginia in 1778.[1] Lewis Lunaford was its first pastor.[2]
It had black and white congregants.[3] Members included Robert Carter III who became a prominent abolitionist, Addison Hall, and his daughter Henrietta Hall Shuck.[2] J. B. Jeter served as pastor.[4]
A historical marker commemorates its history.[5]
By 1843 with 948 members it may have been the largest Baptist church in in the world.[6] A history center at the church was added in 2023.[1]
