[edit]Shakira Kibirige was born in Nyenga, Uganda, in 1986. Initially, she pursued acting but later focused on special effects makeup, costume design, and hairstyling[1] [3]. She began her professional career in these fields after discovering an interest in film production and design. Kibirige’s work has influences from Ugandan culture and African storytelling traditions[3][1]. Her career began in the early 2000s, when she began offering her services to small local film productions.[2]

[edit]Kibirige began her professional film career in 2008 with Ensisinkano ye'bizibu.[3] after being recognized for her work on The Mercy of the Jungle (2019)[4][2], a film that earned her two prestigious nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs) [2]. She gained practical experience by working on various film sets, learning from experienced professionals in the industry [2][3]
