Please change this to
The file you were trying to upload ("$2") cannot be uploaded because the file name selected matches an entry $1 on the local or global blacklist. Please choose a different filename and try again. Make sure the filename you chose matches the naming convention at Wikipedia:File names.
If you believe that you are seeing this message in error, please let us know at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard. Be sure to specify the exact name of the file you are trying to upload, as well as a brief explanation of what you are trying to do. Thank you. |
Reasons:
- It informs the uploader of the naming conventions for the file.
- There is no way to know which blacklist entry was tripped. This is problematic when there are errors on the local or global blacklists. The extendedconfirmed-show makes sure that well-established users can always see the entry tripped.
- It has some wording fixes as well. Aasim 00:47, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

- Looks okay to me. Done — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:05, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- I have proposed further changes in the sandbox because the message breaks when the regex has a pipe character. See https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki_talk:Titleblacklist-forbidden-upload/sandbox&diff=prev&oldid=977886984 Aasim 15:53, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

I have disabled the request for now as the OP has so far declined to test his changes on the testwiki. Please see Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Escaping a pipe character in system messages for more. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:50, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
