  • 19:4819:48, 4 August 2024 diff hist +4 Avestan Not even a single source agrees on a date prior to 1500 BC, which itself is supported by only one or two sources, and they claim that just because it's closely related to the Vedic Sanskrit, it must be older than 600 BC and close to sanskrit. There is no need to push the dates to 2000 BC unnecessarily. We also don't have much idea about reconstructed ancient Iranian religion. We are just guessing here
  • 13:2013:20, 4 August 2024 diff hist +197 Verethragna Removing unsourced original research and providing citation. It is strictly a Zoroastrian deity first mentioned in Yasht 14. The etymological cognate in Vedic Sanskrit does not make it pan-Indo-Iranian. No specific deity named Verethragna exists in Indo-Aryan literature; we only know about the Proto-Indo-Iranian adjective. Also, there is Indra mentioned in Avestan texts as Andra and Indra-vis. Verethragna is a separate deity in the Avesta, which also has Indra already as a separate evil deity.
