[edit]UPDATE 1.06/2016 .web is still in an ICANN contention set & may be resolved in 2016. 7 applicants and also in contention with .webs
The .web contention set will likely be settled by private auction or ICANN auction. gTLDs like this are dangerous. The WWW is becoming the default protocol of the Internet. I'm sure some of us understand the tangible differences between the WWW and the Internet. This article deserves a solid "controversy" section. - ComradeSlice(talk) 15:01, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Does this company still exist?
[edit]Is the .web registry still in existence? The article doesn't give any details from what I can tell beyond the year 2000 (the court case linked at the bottom) and since the website is down I can't confirm any other details. Does this company still even exist? The only clue that I can ascertain that the domain is still in the process of entering the root registry is a single domain registrar accepting "pre-registrations" for the .web domain, among other "potential future domains." .Web TLD seems to be coming in Q3/2015
[edit]A bunch of companies have applied to run the new .web gTLD; see https://dotanything.co/tlddetail.aspx?tld=WEB http://www.uniteddomains.com/new-top-level-domain/web-domain-registration/ says that it is slated to go live on Q3/2015. There should be more info at http://newgtlds.icann.org/ 76.97.101.90 (talk) 23:53, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
