Pogrom??
[edit]According to the article Pogrom, it needs persecution or murders, but we do not have any count of mass murders of Tamils in Karnataka at this period of time. So, renaming the title in the lead section. Anti-Tamil violence suits better. - Vatsan34 (talk) 07:57, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
About death:
[edit]If 18 Tamils died where is the articles supporting Tamils dead? Actually 16 kannadigas died in police firing during protest. Why it's not mentioned anywhere? plz share proper proof of articles that Tamils dead those article citation is not clear. Why kannadigas should take un-necessary allegations?! Lakshmism (talk) 13:11, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- The New York Times article clearly states that sixteen Tamils died. They didn't choose the title "Tamils are targets of riots in Southern India" for nothing. Your claim of "16 kannadigas died in police firing during protest" on the other side lacks a source. That's why it is not mentioned. Feel free to provide a source that backs your claim or proofs the NYT wrong. Gehenna1510 (talk) 15:56, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
Why don't you publish original news paper boldly? Why cant I see that paper properly? & check out kannada medias claiming 16 kannadigas died in police firing. Lakshmism (talk) 16:09, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
Sir, Here some people taking support from criminal veerappan's article. Laks883 (talk) 06:23, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Misleading claim about Bangalore demographics before 1991
[edit]In the background section of the article it’s claimed that Tamils constituted the majority of Bangalore till 1991 when Kannadigas overtook them. This claim is false.
The source cited for the above claim is Page 16 of this book.[1] However the author does not provide any primary sources, references or census data to substantiate his claim.
This is the Bangalore district census document of 1951[2]. In the summary given in page 9, it is clear that Kannadigas were the majority at 64% and Tamils only constituted 8% of the population.
I shall be removing the misleading sentence. Thank you. Hallikar (talk) 08:30, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

Event
[edit]Changes regarding event part as anti social elements participated in the riots, hence references failed to provide exact facts regarding villagers property confiscation as migration happened in Bangalore mainly. Gijantic (talk) 08:34, 4 December 2022 (UTC)

[edit]About population & exodus: The article says Tamil speakers form 3.82% in Karnataka, but it is said that hundreds of thousands left the state, statistics doesn't match. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2409:40F2:304D:FEE1:8000:0:0:0 (talk) 04:10, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
