Web sites
[edit]Are there any sites which are specifically for finding when new music albums and new bands exist? that would be a good thing to either have linked into here, or to some music article..
Switchfoot.com reports that the actual release date of "Nothing Is Sound" by Switchfoot is scheduled for September 13, 2005 as opposed to the reported July 19, 2005.
- Well then change it. The official website is a reliable source. Be Bold and correct any mistakes you see. bob rulz 03:13, Jun 27, 2005 (UTC)
"Cigaro" by System of a Down
[edit]To someone who keeps re-adding "Cigaro" by System of a Down on the Top Hits list:
Please do not include it on the Top Hits list. It is a leaked track and was not released as a single. As I said before, leaked tracks have nothing to do with a (hit) single. -- Mike Garcia | talk 21:24, August 4, 2005 (UTC)
- The same guy is adding children's songs from TV shows to the list. He is also adding misinformation about bands such as Green Day, SOAD, and Alice In Chains, mainly putting in incorrect release dates. He also made up his own name for the upcoming Strokes album. He is now blocked for two weeks for this vandalism. Maybe you could try talking to him, what he is doing is very similar to what you used to do. Rhobite 21:30, August 4, 2005 (UTC)
Chinese Democracy
[edit]It's unlikely this is coming out this year, isn't it? Unless someone knows something I don't. - Richy
Destiny's Child
[edit]"Lose My Breath" - Destiny's Child , didn't this come out in 2004?
Top Hits of 2005
[edit]This list should be limited to include only the songs which hit the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 during 2005. Some songs which were only minor hits, and others which were not hits at all (such as DOA by the Foo Fighters) are being deleted. Sebastian Prospero 03:33, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Then this page should be renamed to 2005 in music in the USA. Kappa 03:48, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Why should the list only contain Billboard top 10 hits? Rhobite 07:01, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
Don't be offended by this template, but this page is basically all about Anglophone music, hopefully it will encourage people to fill in something about the rest of the world. Kappa 03:51, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- oh, that's quite clever, didn't know that one existed! -- chsf 18:57, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Crazy Frog
[edit]Is 'Crazy Frog released to the annoyance of millons' a NPOV? I sure was annoyed but it must have been popular to warrant the amount of people who purchased it. I'm not sure how to put it there though
I'm pretty sure millions of people were annoyed.--Richy 01:09, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
No discussion needed. I've removed it. -- MisterHand 01:20, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Album formatting
[edit]The album section on these "years in music" pages is really difficult to read. It's much easier on the UK versions (ex: 2005 in music (UK)). Anyone think this should be fixed? Or is there a particular reason that it's like this? Tomtheman5
- I changed it. Am ready to do the same for other years. Everyone like it? Better yet, anyone hate it? Tomtheman5
- Also, I can't get rid of that Limp Bizkit CD. And it's driving me crazy!!! Tomtheman5
- I like the old format much better. It's much easier to read. bob rulz 02:06, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
Live8
[edit]Madonna and Pink Floyd steal the show. Isn't this only personal opinion. I know that there were some other important people too. What about them? --Joshua.84 17:58, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
I removed that bit -- getcrunkjuicecontribs 18:02, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
Top Hits
[edit]The list is way too long. There's just the top 10 albums, why not just the top 10 singles? The year is over now, so there shouldn't be any more changing to be done. bob rulz 08:43, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
This is an encyclopedia. This is very valid reference material, and now, seven years after your comment, I need this information. And now it's not here. Thanks, Bob. Iamvered (talk) 15:59, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
I Am Me
[edit]Why is I Am Me numbers 63 and 92 on the Top Best-selling albums list? -- Mattbrundage 15:04, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
unrelated
[edit]I may be doing this wrong. But the deaths of Pope John Paul II and of Terry Schiavo should be put in to wherever they belong (I think John Paul was on April 1 or 2 and Terry Shiavo around there too). (unsigned, unknown poster)
- I don't see what either event has to do with music. salamurai 07:25, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- Today, since I was here again, I moved this comment fromt he top to the bottom because it's irrelevant. I was wondering if someone else might think it needs to be removed.Salamurai 21:43, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Musical Theater
[edit]There's an entry for a musical titled "One Life" here. I've never heard of it. Best I got on researching it is from here, where I find that a) it was performed initially at a high school, b) it concerns the history of the Mormon church, to which one can infer a relatively limited audience, and c) the creators are not significant enough to have gotten their own Wikipedia entry or even a mention of a previous musical about Jane Eyre in the entry for Jane Eyre. I have trouble with the idea that this is even here, so I'm asking if anyone else knows anything about it. salamurai 07:23, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Albums Released List
[edit]For this list, is there a reason for the dates to all have parentheses () around them? It looks terrible. In addition, some of the dates are wikilinked, and others are not. I would think it would be better to either not wikilink any of them, or do each first instance. Also, perhaps it should be noted that it's a selected list, as it would be difficult to list EVERY album that came out in a given year? Anyone got any thoughts? Salamurai 21:43, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- I formatted the albums list to match the other Year in Music articles, and fixed some incorrect wikilinks. Not only is it more readable, but it knocked 5 KB off the article size. In the process, I also removed a few albums that I couldn't verify. Either the release dates were verified to be wrong, or the only other websites which referenced them were mirrors of Wikipedia, indicating original research. Hint to others: an Internet leak isn't an album release. Dejaphoenix (talk) 10:51, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Albums released
[edit]How complete are the albums released sections from 2005 and past/future years? I'm assuming they consist of mostly releases from major labels? Coeusss (talk) 00:46, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
