I have removed the mention of suicide-jumpers - "Bentalls is popular amongst many shoppers and suicide-jumpers." as this just seems to be a crass comment added after the sad death of a young woman yesterday. AndrewJFulker (talk) 12:42, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Although the more crass comments have been removed (more than once), do we need the news atricle included on this page? It reflects one dark incident in a building with a long and cheerful record. In years to come the shock value will have faded and this episode will be a mere footnote in the building's history. Can we drop it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AndrewJFulker (talk • contribs) 11:56, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Drop it? - yes - it is a sad and unfortunate incident but it does not need to be recorded on a world-wide encyclopedia. There are, for example, several thousand road accidents a year. Wikipedia is not an ongoing news source and such accidents are only relevant to an encyclopaedia if the individual concerned is notable in Wikipedia terms. Hi. An ip editor changed the page stating it was out of date and now Fenwicks. I reversed it back and changed it to was, as it has been rebranded. However I cannot exactly find when. It was still Bentalls at the beginning on 2022, which was the last mention in the press, but actually no ref anywhere confirming the changeover date, so put as 2023.Davidstewartharvey (talk) 11:17, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
