Wasn't Costas Geourgiou executed by Angola (instead of 'Britain'? The categorisation would be untrue even in a broad sense -Angola was a Portuguese -not British- colony.

this article discusses Georgiou in relation to the Bloody Sunday inquiry and seems both relevant ( presence but not necessarily the identification of the photo) and reliable ADR 25/8/17 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.41.53.61 (talk) 21:15, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
Book about the Angola Mercenaries
[edit]I believe there is a book about the Angola Mercenaries written by two of those who served with Callan. If I am correct, it is "Firepower" by Chris Dempster. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.13.39.98 (talk) 12:58, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
"Excellent"
[edit]In "Georgiou in Angola," the first paragraph states that "this group were all excellent, experienced soldiers." If "this group" encompasses only the new group being introduced to the reader, then I don't see any problems here; however, if "this group" is supposed to include Costas and his three comrades then I think we have a problem, as at least two of these "excellent" soldiers were dishonorably discharged. One would think that "excellent" soldiers would have managed not to get kicked out of the military. intooblv (talk) 22:34, 22 August 2009 (UTC) Bloody Sunday. George was in jail on that day in Holiwood barracks. He was not a corporal but a private soldier. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.2.136.195 (talk) 12:44, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- By context, I understand the writer means that regardless of his troops' experience, he'd end up with an "excellent" team after some training. I don't think it's too relevant if the soldiers were discharged or not, since one could argue that a corporal wouldn't make an "excellent" colonel either, yet here we are. Material or Materiel?
[edit]This sentence in last paragraph:
>The new government sought and received help in the form of Cuban military advisors, combat troops and material to fight against rival factions
Is it material or materiel?
Material is things that are used to make other things, or what something is made out of. Materiel is military equipment. 167.154.72.80 (talk) 16:02, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Materiel seems correct in this context. Does the source say something different? Otherwise, I'd say go for it. Betsybugaboo (talk) 05:46, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
