Rev. Paul Dhayanandham
[edit]Dear Sir, I would like to bring the following to your attention, consideration, and appropriate action on the following incident concerning the pastor Rev. Paul Dhayanandham, at CSI Loving Shepherd Church, Chennai My name is Aruna Hulme, have been living in the US for more than 30 years. My daughter and I came to India on the 3rd of December 2022 to attend my nephew’s wedding on Monday the 5th. My brother’s family with the groom arrived earlier that week also from the US. My brother and sister-in-law have been married for 10 years but were divorced from their previous marriages. The evening before the wedding, we the groom’s family went to the bride’s with saree, fruits, sweets, and flowers. We handed those to the bride. Pastor was there and the function started with prayer. Then the pastor ordered (not invited, not asked but ordered) both parents of the bride and groom to come front and to stand together as married couples. My sister-in-law stood up and politely said, she will just stand where she is and immediately pastor raised his voice and demanded that she come and stand next to her ex-husband. The pastor got so angry, rude, and started yelling how things should be and continue to verbally force her to come and stand next to her ex-husband At that point I got up and said that if she says no then it is a no and to leave her alone and to proceed with what needed to be done for function. At that point he didn’t do things as planned but ate his dinner and left. He almost ruined those young couples life. Everyone one was sad, upset, defeated, and there was significant hope lost if this marriage will happen. He was ver rude, inappropriately yelling and screaming, throwing a tantrum like a 3 year old, arrogant, selfish, immature, impulsive, with no sense of responsibility whatsoever. He disrespected, insulted, and verbally abusive towards us 2 grown successful women in front of about 20 people.
I have admired pastors for their calm and gentle voice, the comfort they offer just by being, bringing true joy and hope to mankind, loving and kind, the presence of mind and tactics to navigate through challenging situations, and their patience and love for people regardless of their age, sex, religion, education, financial status, and political influence or affiliation. For the first time in my life I have seen a rude, uncaring, ruthless, pridefulness, self indulging, disrespectful to all human beings particularly towards women, arrogant with GOD complex pastor. I believe he treats his congregation the same way due to his behavior at the church during the Wedding Ceremony. He was sitting in the altar the Holy place and was on his cellphone for good part of the service, when he was not on his phone he was talking to the pastor next to him, and even walked away from his seat during the service. This is a clear sign that he has no reverence for GOD and no respect to the bride, groom, or the friends and family who were attending the ceremony. He talked with the people at the church particularly the bride side who are members of the church with this awful body language and gives hand signals as though they are some cheap 2 wheelers on Chennai roads. With sadness and heavy heart I want to share with you that he is a total disgrace to humanity and should NOT be allowed to lead a congregation
Just a little background on us, we both have our Masters degree and in very highly respected and valued roles.
I am a Nurse Practitioner caring and treating hundreds of patients in my clinic everyday My sister-in-law is a software engineer working as a Principal IT lead We both are mature adults with successful grown children. Everything I have told you can be proved with photos and videos. Thank you for your attention and helping to stop future abuses at your church
