Let's discuss before changing the target of this redirect. Enzymes are a bit outside the realm of what people are probably thinking of when they search for "chemistry". bd2412 T 04:09, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • @BD2412: Well, to me, enzymes and the reactions they catalyze are well within the realm of (bio)chemistry. One piece of evidence: when you search Google Scholar for "ec number" "chemistry", all ten hits on the first page mean Enzyme Commission numbers rather than European Community numbers.—Neil P. • I appreciate your reasoning. My issue is that there are only two topics (so WP:TWODABS applies), and there are a large number of incoming links. Both topics are somewhat obscure, but the incoming links all seem to intend the European Community number. When the redirect is changed, those links are suddenly pointing to the wrong place (the disambiguation page) rather than the article to which they were intended. It is generally wise to fix such links before changing the redirect target in order to avoid reports showing a major error. The venue for making a potentially controversial change to a redirect is Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. Cheers! bd2412 T 16:55, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
